ohwhataday03
Does anyone put their lye mixture in an ice bath to cool down?
Kimberly
I dont put my lye solution in an ice bath but I do fill my sink about 6 in deep of cold water to cool it off.
Scented
I don't. By the time I have my oils combined, the lye has cooled down significantly. I melt oils and leave everything until cold before I make anyway.

rcrafty
I usually mix my lye/water mixture in the garage. Sometimes I will fill a pan with some water and add some ice cubes to it which helps it cool down faster.
Misty
I just add my lye immediately into my unmelted oils. I don't wait for cooling. It just takes too long, and I'm too impatient.
MarieJeanette
I just let mine cool down on its own.MarieJeanette
IndulgentCreations
I used to use a ice bath to cool mine but now I mix lye/water the day before I plan to soap. It's just easier and allows me to move quicker with it already cooled.
chuck_35550
I have a stainless steel bowl that fits into another bowl full of cubes. I watch my thermometer and keep my temps where they need to be and there is no waiting. Then I put my pot of oils in the ice bath to bring the temp down and then soap. LilliAngela
I don't but it's certainly something that some folks do. You can also make your lye solution with ice cubes to help with the cool down.
ChristyC
I have, but I usually don't...
