So I went to Walmart to get a heat gun ...

Recommended Posts

I remebered someone saying they were in the paint department so I go back there and ask this man where I might find the heat guns and he asked me what are you using it for? crafts? and I said kind of ... candles. So he directs me to the craft/sewing department :angry2: and I told him no, I would like a heat gun that cost $22 and he said the best thing for you is in the craft aisle since you are doing a craft. I then tell him :shocked2: "okay, well if Im peeling paint off the walls where might I find a heat gun?'' and he looks at me strangely and directs me to the POWERFUL heatgun I want, lol. Poor guy was trying to protect me or something.:laugh2:

So...so far Ive melted wax out of containers and smoothed tops of tarts, what else do you use your heat gun for?

I think you can use it for embossing too. I bought mine at Michael's with their 50% off coupon.

What you got at Michaels was an embossing gun. It's not as hot or direct as a heat gun. The heat gun has a more narrow nozzle for direct heat. Embossing guns are used in cardmaking and scrapbooking which I also do. I have both and the heat gun works better for candlemaking. Too hot for embossing. I got the heat gun at Walmart near the paint dept.

I have the embossing gun and like it much better than the bigger heat guns - fits my hand better and it produces all the heat I need.

I use mine for cleaning up my tools-aluminum funnels and my stir stick, plus the usual applications.

At Christmas I wanted to get a Leapfrog video sender to get the signal from my dvd player over to a second TV. The youngster behind the counter at Best Buy tried to send me to the children's video games....:(
