Votive Help Please **Added Pics

Recommended Posts

Okay, so I have molds, wicks, wax... everything I need, but unfortunately the wick pins won't be in for another week and I want to make these now. I thought I remembered seeing a post about using the straight wire from a coat hanger, cut into sections... was I dreaming?

What's the best way to do this without wick pins?

Using straight wire in votives may be hard. You can always wick it right after you pour. Not as easy as wick pins, but it works. I used to set the wick in the empty mold and use rubberbanded skewers or popsickle sticks to hold the wick up while the wax cools and shrinks. Watch the tab, if it starts to shift, let the bottom film over and poke it back in place. It should stay.
