Scent Cellar
Has anyone noticed an odd off smell in fresh soap when using the neons? My oils are all under 3 months old and I was besides myself as I cut a fresh batch of soap using an f/o that I have soaped before with great results. The off smell is slowly disappearing but I don't know if it will disapperar entirely. I have sniffed every oil I used at least 3 times & finally sniffed the bag the neons are in and it's definately the smell of the neons. The neons are such fun colors but I am going back to oxides & ultramarines.
8-GRAN-ONES
I have used the neons that are already mixed in the bottles,I have not noticed any smell...
Scent Cellar
These were the neon poweders that I used. I have since made another batch of soap using same recipe and same f/o but different coloring and everything is smelling great. I threw all my neon powders away and life is great. 8-GRAN-ONES
Did you contact TKB? Maybe there was a bad batch, and they might have replaced them...
Scented
It will go away completely. At least I haven't noticed it say into the second week and I notice it less if I use less.
Scent Cellar
Thank heavens I only used enough for a slight pink swirl because just that little amount caused an off smell. My neons are now RIP and they won't bother me again.
Scented
I know about the off smell (putting it nicely lol), but since it went away, and it seemed to only be the hot pink, I kept using them.

tamsoycandles
I know about the off smell (putting it nicely lol), but since it went away, and it seemed to only be the hot pink, I kept using them.I'm glad I read this. I just started CPing and my third soap batch used this hot pink neon. I noticed the smell of old bicycle innertube. At first I thought it was just the gloves I was wearing.Tony
Scented
Lucky you! I'm forbidden to say what the smell reminded me of lol. There are a few who were in Texas who know. The stench on the hot pink fades for me within a 1-2 weeks and is gone by the end of cure.
Louise
I'm glad I read this. I was going to order the neons. Do they all smell or is it just the pink?
Scent Cellar
Just the pink=stink!! But the smell does go away in the cure.
Scented
Just the pink, but like Scent Cellar said ... it goes away during cure. It's a very pretty pink too.
tamsoycandles
It's a very pretty pink too.As long as you don't use Peak's Pink Sugar... Then it is a pretty pumpkin. My pink swirl is now sweet potato casserole.
IndulgentCreations
I noticed this smell in all of the neon colors I have used from them. My DH came over to smell it and said "that's neon". I guess neon spray paint has that same funky undertone. It did fade after cure but I swear I can still smell it...I think it's in my head. My pink swirl is now sweet potato casserole. :laugh2: Hey wait, I thought Peak's Pink Sugar didn't discolor? Or maybe that was someone else's that didn't discolor. At this point who knows.... I'm lucky I know my own name today
Firefly
I've used the neons quite a few times and have never had a problem with the smell. I love them, it's too bad you threw them out as I would have contacted the supplier. They are wonderful to deal with.
Louise
I just ordered 5 of the neons (left out the blue cuz Scented said the pop blue was prettier ) and yep, I even ordered the pink!
Jeana
I just got a shipment of all the colors. Now I'm nervous. I'm really sensitive to odd smells. Does this happen to them with MP or only CP?I recently got an order of Alkanet for coloring naturally, but wow that stuff stinks. I haven't used it cuz I'm worried it will leave a stink behind. Louise
Well, if we all end up with stinky soap, we can have a Stinky Soap Swap
Jeana
That's funny:laugh2: Here I was just wanting to get bright colors that don't fade. Not even considering they would have a bad smell. Lucky for TKB I didn't see this post before putting my order in.
