1. Thanks everyone for your nice comments. I think I managed to vanquish those darned fairies and gremlins. It's about time. LOL Barb, I think you would like this Niagara Falls, it's really a different type of scent. I can't even begin to find the words to describe it right now, as you know I've had sort of a big day. But if you're ordering fo's and want to take a chance, then I really think you would be pleased with this one. If you're not close to ordering, then hang in there for about 6 weeks and I'll put one in your box for you to check out. All the fo's above I purchased from Nature's Garden with the exception of the Butt Naked. I have yet to get one from there that I am disappointed in. Scented, the Butt Naked is holding up just fine. No attempt to turn dark or anything. The only thing with this particular soap is I have quite a bit of white things in it. No, it's not lye. I did this using the frozen goat's milk method (which I've done countless times). The only thing I can think of is somehow the goat's milk re-formed back up in little shreds. If that makes any sense. I haven't tested one of the bars yet, but I'm thinking they may even be gritty feeling. It must just be "just one of those things", I dunno. But the Butt Naked fo is fine. Wendy, the bottom one is my favorite too!
2. Here are some of my latest soaps. I hope you enjoy. Green Clove & Aloe from NG. I had no problems with this one seizing. The other one I used I had used in a salt bar. Butt Naked Goats Milk Green Apple Explosion Niagra Falls - This one looks like a waterfall. Well, at least it does to me, which is the look I was going for. I love the aqua and blue together. Any comments/criticisms welcome. Enjoy!
3. Barb, those turned out gorgeous! (keeping fingers crossed one of those is going in my box.) These deserve the Baby Dance!!
4. My olive castile bars get rock hard too. I've never heard of one not getting rock hard. But I think we all agree that the more cure time on a bar, the nicer it will be on your skin. I usually don't let anything go that is less than 6 - 8 wks old. And I certainly wouldn't wrap them before then either. Some people will see some on my rack and beg, but I just tell them, if it's not wrapped, it's not ready to go.
5. LOL Scented.... too late!!! :laugh2: Heck, if down the road I want to try it, I'll order it then. And yes, the blueberry pop is a great blue and I love it, so I'm happy, that's all that matters.
6. They all look great! I really like the looks of the confetti one.
7. Looks fantastic, Barb! Love that swirl! And love the colors too, I can't wait til you cut it.
8. patka, you must be really sensitive to the lye when it's first made. I handle all my soaps, gelled or not and don't seem to have any problems. Isn't that weird? Some people are just more sensitive than others I guess. Tony, just try washing your hands with it. But have some vinegar ready if you start feeling tingly.
9. Well, if we all end up with stinky soap, we can have a Stinky Soap Swap
10. Oh man, Sharon, what a jerk he is. And now he only accepts cash? Hell, girl, that should have been your first clue to pack your bags and go elsewhere. Sounds like you've had quite a struggle with several webmasters. Is it something in the water there?
11. Oh, that Mandarin Lime sounds wonderful! Dang, I wish I had ordered that. I just got 10 fo's from there too. Dang, guess it will have to go on the next list!
12. Good luck on your upcoming sale Jen! Hope you sell out of everything.
13. I'm with suds, I use ordinary table salt. Glycerin is a natural occurence in handmade soaps and sometimes this is what the weeping is in your bars. If you've eliminated everything else....i.e. too much fo, lye pockets, etc., then pat yourself on the back because you've made an excellent batch of soap. Just pop the bars in the oven overnight with "only" the oven light on...leave the oven turned off. HTH
14. Were those fo's you bought rated for candles or for soap? I can't remember if you can use her fo's for both or not. I have not purchased fo's from her in quite awhile, but when I did, I never had any problems with my CP soap not being able to smell them. I've also ordered other items from her and never had any problems and shipping was always great. Hell, I just got a bucket of shea butter from Canwax and it had an 18" long hair on the inside of the lid. .
15. Thanks so much CBE. I've got a couple of those Georgia Peach bars with you name on it then, if you like them so much. Just pm me your info and when they're ready I'll ship em down
16. Which Dial scent were you looking for? When you decide which one, just Google it, then you should have a handle on whether anyone makes one or not. HTH
17. I just ordered 5 of the neons (left out the blue cuz Scented said the pop blue was prettier ) and yep, I even ordered the pink!
18. Thanks, Gran, I just ordered some... I also ordered some neons and I also ordered some of that Emerald Green mica that I wanted when we had the pop co-op. So now I sit and wait.
19. :laugh2: Hey wait, I thought Peak's Pink Sugar didn't discolor? Or maybe that was someone else's that didn't discolor. At this point who knows.... I'm lucky I know my own name today
20. Gran, yep, tape, that's what I was going to do. I love that darker blue she used in the tut. I wish I knew what that was, I'd order some. I'd love to have a blue like that.
21. LOL Jen, good discussion. I noticed that on their website a couple weeks back.... made no sense, so I moved on. And you might as well forget trying to contact them. I emailed them on another matter about 3 weeks ago and have heard zip back. Guess they are too busy to wait on their customers. It's a shame since it's one source up here for us that is reasonably priced on alot of items.
22. Thank you Anita, Barbara, and Gran for your nice comments. Even though some didn't turn out as I had planned, they are all still soap and like Grumpy Girl says, they take take away my birthday
23. Gran, nice job on your first Mantra! Did you use cardboard as your divider? It looks like whatever you used, you had it good and snug in the mold. I'm thinking if the divider shifts, this is not a good thing. I'm thinking also that I may have to spout an extra arm and hand in order to do this. Your second one, while not turning out as you planned, still looks good. I love the colors!
24. Actually, jade, I guess MY mind was in the gutter when I titled this thread . And you were the first one to mention it, so you're the winner lol. Gran, don't be afraid, go for it. I'll be soaping my Green Clover & Aloe again soon. Actually, I just got a new Green Clover & Aloe from a different place so will probably soap that one first to compare. But you know darned well, I'm going to go back to that first one and try it in a non-salt bar recipe to see what happens. Neither site said the fo was a mover and in fact, one site said in their own tests, it behaved perfectly well. So who knows? *shrugs* maybe it's just me. I'll have to get pics of that salt bar to show you all. I should then crumble it all up and just add it in with some other soap.
