prairieannie
You can chop it up in a chopper, but just be advised that unless you are just sprinkling it on top, you can expect it to turn black in your soap. Lavender buds are even worse, they look exactly like mouse poop in soap.
TexasBrat
Oh ya what PA said, I made a batch of lavender soap and I got reminded how my soap looked like it had rat turds in it. I would recommend using it as a topping for the soaps rather than in the soap itself.
BLSoaps
The easiest way to grind dried lavender is to buy it already ground up. Seriously. Unless you invest in some pricey equipment, it's much cheaper to just buy it pre-ground. If you want to try out a little bit, PM me. I'm sure I can spare some! maryann
OH that's good to know- I'll have to add that to my notes. I tried it before and got the turd look too! :embarasse BTW I use a blender, I'll have to try my coffee grinder as mine isn't a fine powder when I get done blending it. Toni S.
I also use my coffee grinder and turn the buds into powder if I'm not sprinkling them on the top of the soap. Works great and has never failed me yet!
Laura
i used my little coffee bean grinder to grind it into a coarse powder. then sprinkled whole buds on top. here's how it looks after. no black, just a natural brown look.
