Nita
Any ideas on where to get a good (but not too expensive) heat gun?
honebun
I got mine from our local DIY store, Homebase but I'm in the UK, that was only £20. I certainly wouldn't be without it now.Sarah

Nita
So if candles get sink holes or if they frost on top a heat gun will fix that completley?
Jami
I actually bought mine at Big Lots for $9.99 and it has held up GREAT through MANY uses lolI have also seen them at Walmart and Home Depot.Once in a while if I have just a small bit of frosting, the heat gun will help. If I have more than a spot it helped at first, THEN it comes back. It will help a little with sink holes depending on just how deep the sink hole is. A dip by the wick yes, a big sink hole, I don't think so unless it was used for melting down a bit of the top of the candle into the sink hole to fill it up and might take more than one zapping. I could be wrong but just what I tried to do once way back when lol.I use it the most for my 444 wax that gives me ugly tops if I don't get that "perfect" pour temp and it smooths them out wonderfully. cestlavielumiere
They also sell sealers too. When you order online from them, it sometimes takes a while to come in.
Candybee
Yup. Use my heat gun to smooth off my candle tops and also to shrink wrap.
Wick'n'Wax
this may sound daft, but I've no idea what I'm looking for. I use a hairdryer and the nozzle is too big, I can't direct the heat where I want it.As I'm in the UK, can anyone recommend one here, or post a piccie of theirs? Ramaroa
Hey WicknWax -I'm originally from UK and have a Black & Decker Heat gun from Homebase. Have a look in B&Q or somewhere like that, where the 'mens' power tools are for something like this:http://www.blackanddecker.com/ProductGuide/Product-Details.aspx?ProductID=5551
Wicknwax
I got mine from a DIY storeEssential piece of equipment for me
Wick'n'Wax
thanks ramaroa,I've found one in my local B&Q. Its a wagner 1800w with 2 heat settings - 350 and 500degrees centigrade.Does it need to be more powerful or have more varied heat settings? Janelle
yep, they are really useful to have, BUT make sure you don't get burned. I still have a nasty scar on the inside of my wrist from a burn from the tip of a heat gun. can you say ouch?
Meridith
Harbor Freight has cheep and excellent heat guns. I also found a lot of other useful candle making items there also.I went through 2 of these in less than a year. But my $20.00 embossing gun from Michaels I bought about 4-5 years ago is still going strong.
