moniek
Has anyone ever heard of this? :undecided Shaking up your fo before using them. Not sure if it would matter or not. I dont ever think to shake them up before I use them.
sharyl55
Don't know if it makes any difference but I always shake mine before pouring. Just a habit like I always shake the salad dressing bottle before using it.
topofmurrayhill
As far as I know there's no need whatsoever to shake them. All the ingredients are in solution and they don't separate out. Thus all you can accomplish by shaking is to dissolve additional air into the FO and speed up oxidation. Personally I'd avoid doing that. The reason you need to shake certain things is that they're mixtures rather than solutions. Like salad dressing. hawaiiansun
To shake or not to shake I think is a matter of preference. If you don't wanna shake don't but I do so I will :smiley2:

If you don't wanna shake don't but I do so I will :smiley2:Well of course.I wasn't addressing anyone's preference to shake, only the need to. You can even shake half empty bottles of wine. It will hasten their demise though, and I'm wondering if the air might do the same thing to the FO.
scents for me
Agree topofmurryhill. Only reason I ever heard of for shaking an FO bottle is if ice crystals somehow got in there, OR FLAKES
Terrie
I never shake unless my FO has crystalized. And that usually only happens during the colder months.:smiley2:
happy hobo
when some FO's are kept quite cool, there will be some clouding in the FO. I was always instructed by the supplier to shake well until the FO is clear. I think it might be a good idea to give them a shake in case of sediment at the bottom. Molly
I have a couple of "bakery" FOs that came with directions to either shake or shake AND heat before adding to the wax!
Crying Moon
I don't shake them, but I do tip them upside down a couple times. Don't know if it does any harm or not but that's what I do. I sometimes also play a little blues music. They seem to like that too.

Tallbabydoll
I have had a couple of fos that would seperate, I would shake those before use. It never occured to me that this might not be a good idea. I always thought it to be a good idea to make sure there was no seperation. But most of the time I forget to shake it anyways.:rolleyes2
sed8ed
I prefer not to shake. I think the less air bubbles the better. If you feel like it needs a bit of mixing up just tip the bottle upside down (gently) a time or two, but I wouldn't shake.
