Does anyone make room sprays and do you have a favorite recipe? I've made them from alcohol and distilled water with FO but have never used any of the bases that suppliers sell. Is one better than the other? Thanks in advance!

I just got some from Just Scent  room/body spray base. Haven't tested yet, like the fact that it can do double duty.

I use Cyclomethicone from AH/RE and it works very well for me.

In a one ounce spray bottle, I use .96 base and .04 fragrance.

I use the base from the Candlemakers Store. It's the best one I've found.

All you do is add FO?

Yep.  Just add FO.  I've tried several bases and DIY recipes and this one is by far the best, IMO.

Not meaning to sound dense but what is DPG? How much do you use and how much FO? Are those the only two ingredients? Thanks for your help!

It's a thick heavy oil. It's used in making roll on oils and used as a solvent for incense. To use as a spray you'd have to dilute it further with alcohol. It's pretty easy but requires some testing to find your perfect recipe.

Cyclo would be my next choice. That you can just add FO to it. Same as most premade bases. :)

Where do you get Cyclo?  Is that it's full name?

Bumping this topic up…I’m considering adding room sprays/poo pouri type sprays, but have never ventured into this realm. With all the company buyouts/changes, I’m wondering if there’s a “base” I can just add FO to that someone recommends. I’m also happy to read/you tube to start my learning journey BUT, definitely want a suggestion because there’s so much HORRID info out there - and I trust this group.
TIA

I bought some room spray base from Flaming. I've only used it in a couple of sprays and it's ok but don't really think it's any better than the distilled water/alcohol recipe I was already using.  I plan to try the one from Candle Makers store after reading this thread again. I think I went off and forgot all about posting this question. Now that I'm reading it again I'm seeing that I never did get the one from CMS so I want to try that one.

Thanks Belinda. I’ll check out percentages of homemade base and FO — I’ll be interested if you order the CMS base what you think of it. I bought a Lavender Spray from a local guy and like it and according to the label he uses a distilled water/alcohol base (which I’m assuming is homemade and not a base from a company). I’m going to play around some in the spring…I also started playing around with fragranced salts for burners a couple of years ago, but for some reason got side tracked. Maybe that’s another spring project.

I hear you about getting side tracked! I had planned to try salts also and never did. I've been doing mostly car fresheners which I hate doing because they make such a big mess and the molds take up so much space. I'm seriously considering selling my molds and just going back to wax even though most people around here want fresheners. It's just such a money pit, all of it. I do like making what I want to make and then being done but I sure do hate having orders to fill LOL!

Money Pit!! LOL — all of it!!

I thought about car fresheners for about 15 seconds. I really never wanted to do that. My problem is I like making candles — so it’s really my hobby and I sell some to offset a bit of my costs. I do think room sprays, linen sprays, and poo pouri sprays would be a nice addition. And the salt thing just really intrigues me!
