donna4909
Can you premix lye for CP soap and use it at room temp, or does it have to be hot? It's hard for me to get everything timed correctly so the lye & oils will be cool enough to work with. :undecided
tlc26
there are quite a few here that will mix thier lye the night before or the day before. Many like it! I haven't personally tried it though

donna4909
Ok, so if you premix the lye and it's at 72 degrees, is it going to hurt anything if the oils are 100 degrees?
Jeana
I know many people use is this cool but I still feel a little weird about it, so I put it in the microwave to get it back to like 85. It has worked well for me so far to do this.
Sherie
Sometimes I mix it up the night before and make sure it's cool before I put a lid on it. The next day, when I'm ready to use it, I have this rectangular tub that I put hot water in and let the lye/water pitcher sit in it until it's the temp I need for my recipe. Works like a charm. elle110
I always premix my lye now, It makes the whole process go smoother, in fact, I also make my Olive Oil soap at room temp. I use premixed lye (sometimes I mix several days in advance) and my olive oil at room temp as well. I never rewarm it up with hot water or in the microwave. I love it, my soapmaking process is shorter and I can do several batches of soap in no time. I especially like having my dh premix my lye for me then I am not messing with it until I actually make soap YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
TexasBrat
If you make CPHP you don't have to wait for the lye to be a certain temperature. You make it and add it to the melted oils right away.
