Thanks for the reply! Sorry about the measurement! The diameter of the opening is a 3", but it is wider lower in the jar...about 3-3/4". This is SO frustrating! I tested in paraffin...same jar/wicks and got a full MP with two 44-32-18P's in a little less than 2.5 hours with no mushrooms. I'd love to be able to use the soy waxes (clean-up is a BREEZE) in the apoths, but I just can't seem to get it right. I have NO trouble with the soy if using smaller containers...I'm stumped! OK, so I decided to do my first round of wick tests sans fragrance or color. I'm using KY125 in an 11oz apothecary, poured (slushy) just below the point where the jar begins to narrow. I have the following wick sample packs purchased from Bitter Creek... RRD HTP Cotton core Paper core Zinc core I have tried every wick size in these sample packs. I have single-wicked, double wicked, and triple wicked trying to get a full MP in the proper amount of time based in the diameter of the jar (approx. an inch an hour). I have YET to get a full MP in approximately three hours...it's either no full MP at all or a full MP in about 30 minutes. In addition, almost every one of the wicks, regardless of the type or how many used, is mushrooming. I thought mushrooming was caused by a too-heavy FO for the wick used or too much dye. As I'm not using fragrance or dye in these testers, why am I getting the mushrooms??? I'd appreciate any suggestions, thoughts, or H-E-L-P anyone would be willing to give. Thanks! Sherry

I premix by the gallon...50% solution...and use it at room temp. I love the convenience of it! Sherry

I use the no-melt mylar...love 'em! Most of my soaps turn loose cleanly while the log is still warm, but, with a few (especially any that contain TD), I have to let the log COMPLETELY cool before messing with the mylar. Once cool, no problems! HTH! Sherry

I ordered the Pryme Plus sample kit on 1/2/06, they charged my card on 1/9/06 (after I emailed them), and I received them on 1/17/06. I sure hope they were worth the wait (no time to play till the weekend). Sherry

Thanks for the replies. I ordered some sampler packs from BCN...they should be here soon. Now, for the big question... I read somewhere that, while testing different wicks, you should see an inch per hour increase in the diameter of the burn pool. So, if a 3" container has not melted to the edge in 3 hours, extinguish/allow to harden, and then pull the wick out with a pair of pliers and drop a different wick into the hole left by removing the 1st wick. This is going to sound stupid, but bear with me...when you pull the 1st wick out of the container, it's coming out through the hardened wax. I ASSUME the wick easily pulls out of the wick tab that has been glued to the bottom of the container and only the WICK is coming out (metal tab remains on the bottom of the container)...right??? Then you could hit it with the heat gun so melted wax fills the space around the NEW wick? Told ya... Thanks, Sherry
