se2653
I didn't either- sooooo, you don't trim these? do they burn better then? or do you still trim, sorry, I'm very confused....
dnj
I thought it was HTP wicks that are self trimming.I use CD wicks and always find myself trimming those..........
ChandlerWicks
I have to trim all self-trimming wicks. If not, the flame is unstable & wacky.
cybersix
I use CDs and always have to trim. Not much, they don't get so long but I always take off a bit.
rjdaines
Compared to zinc wicks they are very self trimming but still need to be trimmed when starting a burn again.
HookieBear
this is what cajun candles says about cd wicks: "The Heinz Stabilo wicks are a German made all natural, coreless, non-directional, flat braided wicks with a special paper filament woven around them. They are formally known as CD wicks. This configuration is engineered to promote maximum and consistent capillary action while ensuring a self trimming wick that will hold the posture of the flame. The Stabilo series is used in many different applications and is especially compatible with the harder-to-melt viscous waxes of both paraffin, soy and vegetable base."I have to trim mine but not very much. and they do hold the posture. ChandlerWicks
As RJ said, compared to Zincs they are self-trimming. But the ends on my Cds, Cdns & Htps need nipped off each time or the flame is large & wavering around. Teeny mushballs form on the little tiny pieces of frayed wick that is left from the previous burn.
SparkysCandles
I love CD wicks and trim mine as well. I have never worked with zinc so I can't compare but CDs seem to do well in all my candles.
Candybee
They are self triming... to a point. I tend to snip off the end before each burn for a better burn and flame height adjustment.
