  1. Bruce!!! Nice to see you're still around!!!! How are you? Still making those amazing candles? I hope so!
  2. Hi Candybee, so nice to read you again! Life is what happens when you're making plans.. I'm in a strange moment of my life. I felt the need to be with old good friends, and making old good rustics I knew about Vicky, it's so sad. I found a bag of wicks she sent me ages ago, her name on it, written by herself.. this is why I made that candle thinking strongly to her. Love ya all!
  3. Hi Pam! I bet you haven't lost anything! Justrelax and have fun and your beautiful jump lines will be back!
  4. Hi July! Thank you very much! I tried to use your technique for morfing layers but I'm always too terrified to make a mess!
  5. Hi J! I don't really have much to post, lots of boring palm pillars I miss this board so I spent a couple of hours going through old post. It's good to see you again!
  6. Hi everyone. I don't post often, well in the last three years I think I haven't posted anything. I make a lot of palm pillars for selling (and I don't sell as much as I'd like) so I don't work with paraffin a lot. But it's the wax I love more, it's the one that brings a lot of fond memories when I was literally living on here, looking at pictures, reading posts on how to make everything. So I made a rustic, the first I made in years. It's not the most beautiful rustic in the world, but this goes out to Vicky.
  7. I can't believe what I'm reading. I decided to open this board today to check for old friends. I'm so sorry for this big loss, I remember Vicky with much love, she's always been friendly and supportive. My thoughts go to her family. I don't have much to say I'm just shocked.
  8. Hi, I always wondered if there's a way to change my profile name withou losing all the infos, posts and pic. Is there a way to do it? Thanks!
  9. No problem Candybee. It could help but it's more or less as using stearic acid. I wouldn't waste time on tortoise shell palm wax. It also make bumps sometimes so the bottom becomes a ball instead of being flat. I would use it as a mixer with paraffin for pillars.
  10. Tortoise shell palm wax is really different from other palm waxes. It cracks. No matter what you do. It may crack after the first burn, or you can see cracks in the bottom. I tested once and decided it was not worth the effort.
  11. Thanks Candybee, really appreciated!
  12. Thanks a lot Puma! This is the place where I was born as a candlemaker and it always feels like home. Pics are made by my partner, the box in the last pic is the "old one", can't wait to start with everything new. Thanks again!
  13. Hi, I can tell that tortoise shell palm wax cracks. It's a very hard and brittle kind of palm wax, I decided not to use it for this reason. Adding stearic acid seems to help to a certain extent but it doesn't resolve the problem. I had cracks on the bottom and on the top after burning and cooling. Tortoise shell palm wax is a really strange thing, sometimes the "crystals" show up big, sometimes smalls, and sometimes not at all. Try warming the molds and letting the candle cool at a very slow rate. I'm sorry to tell you this but while fascinating, I think it's the worst palm wax I ever saw!
  14. I love yours!!!!! Many thanks J!
  15. Hello everyone! I am soo pleased to see this new version of the board, and to see my beloved old style gallery! I'm very busy at the moment, I'm working hard to start my business AGAIN but on an upperscale level. (For everyone that should not know me, please be patient with my english because I'm Italian ). Anyhow, I saw some of you digged up old pics and I thought I'd show you what I've done and what I'm doing, waiting for my graphic designer and her job ofn my new brand image. I love this board and I have always to come back home Thanks for looking!
