  1. I made up some parasoy testers. Could someone direct me on a start for wicking the 3 inch diameter status jar for this parasoy blend?
  2. I really dont understand the self trim process. At what point does the wick self trim? After re lightning? I want to trim the wick but it has a small ball on the side. I am testing LX wicks.
  3. With 6006 being a parasoy blend, it sounds like the percent portions may be off. I remember fooling around with parasoy and got cracks in the candle - with the percent being more on the soy side of the equation. Jeeze - I really like 6006 and am i the testing stages of sticking with 1 jar and 1 wax.
  4. I used 6% in 6006 with CD wicks and it had like a burnt type of smell going on. I remade it with 8% and I got a lot of compliments.
  5. It had me taking a long look at my soap testing oils and left me wondering!!!
  6. The video is called - Perfect Soy candle in Glass - website - candlemaking.com.au -
  7. Anyone have any idea what container maker for soy candles is? I saw it in a you tube video - it is a liquid - looks like oil or something.
  8. For those that have created their own para soy blend, have you found that blending gives a better throw than straight soy? I am getting ready to place an order at peaks. I have currently on hand 464, 415, and CB 135. Which paraffin do you feel would be best to blend? I am going to order 4627 for sure, but please chime in on other paraffin's to blend. - TIA.
  9. I think I am also headed back in the direction of the status jars and tumblers with the 6006. The salsa jars I am currently testing collect a lot of soot with and without soy blended.
  10. It takes for ever for it to burn down. But I will continue to update the progression of the journey.
  11. The only thing that bothers me about the CD wicks is the flame constantly flickers and gets tall in a short amount of time. I like how the flame acts with the cotton wicks. It don't get tall too fast. - But I do find this interesting. I gave my sister a candle just a few weeks back and she so happened to be burning it on today. Its straight 6006 in the 16 oz Salsa Jar. CD 20 Wick and the FO is Cherry Crumb Pie. Its been burning close to 7 hours. The throw is good. I used 10% FO Load, and the Jar sides is totally Clean. Most Importantly, there is totally NO Black Ring on the jar at all. I haven't even seen any smoke coming from it.The MP is about a little more than a 1/4 inch. The wick didn't get real high until closer to the 6 hour mark. I did check out the Vanillin Content on the NG Site and it has a small percentage. But I wouldn't mind selling this candle, as the flame performed like a cotton wick. It is somewhat high now as it has been burning about 7 hours, but the jar is not scorching. I feel like this is the best candle I have ever made, but I am still scratching my head.
  12. So using zinc wicks, would it be best to use straight 6006? Also do you use large salsa type jars or smaller type jelly jars?
  13. These are 3 seperate candle jars. So i am doing differect wicks for sife bu side testing. Its crazy because all three burning in the same room does not gone the same throw as one does with 8% FO. The jar just has a lot less soot.
  14. Wax is 6006. FO load 6%. Jar: 16oz. Salsa. Wicks tested: RRD, CD, Peaks C seties Cotton Core. There is light soot on the jar rim. The RRD burned the hottest, but not scorching. After 4-5 hours the jars are still touchable. I did not use dye. Jar sides clean as wax burns down.
  15. I was wondering - is there an expectancy range of sooting that collects on the jar rim? I made a few candles using no color, and straight 6006 with 6% blueberry muffin FO. I have trimmed the wick before each burn and have a different wick in each jar. I still see smoke coming from the trimmed wick. The sides of the jar is clean as the candle burns down but there still is this soot. You can hardly see it just by looking, but it is there. Should this be expected?
  16. Does anyone recommend any baby type fragrances? I will be making candle favor tins for a baby Shower. I know of Baby Powder - but is there any nice scents that smell like baby lotion or almost like the baby oil? TIA
  17. Thanks for the guidance. I will be making a few testers candles on tomorrow. Would the dye type matter much in 6006? I am debating if I should use it.
  18. If someone could chime in here please. I never really paid much attention to the vanillin content in the FO. My question is - if using an FO that has a large percentage of vanillin -- affects how the wick burns, do you feel that lighter type scents that not contain vanillin affect the candle burn the same way if more than 6% is used? - I am going to test this question shortly. I will be ordering from NG soon and a Big Bottle of Blueberry Muffin in on my list along with Black Cherry Bomb - since that one that do not contain vanillin at all. -- Please chime in with your thoughts on this. I will be playing with wick types also. I have lots of pieces of this candle making puzzle, but I have to learn, and eventually it will all come together.
  19. Thanks so much for the pointers. I'll remake this and see what happens using 6% FO load. -
  20. I would definitely like to use this FO because of the throw. I am going to order a larger bottle and do some more testing. - Do you guys feel that if I use less of this FO I will lose some of my throw with this particular bakery scent? I do have some ECO and Zinc wicks. - I am also factoring in the wonder should I add just a bit of soy...
  21. Ok- I am looking for the best candle critics for some of your thoughts on this candle. This is 100% 6006.The scent is NG's Blueberry Muffin at 8%.The wick is CD 18.The jar - 16oz. SalsaThe cold throw is great but the hot throw is greater. -The candle has been burning for about 4 hours and the top of the jar is not real hot to the touch. I can leave my hand on the jar with out having to quickly pull my hand back in fear of getting burnt. -The only reason I would not sell this candle is because of the black around the jar as upon lighting it it has been smoking off and on.I only filled the jar half way to test. - My Guess is it would be blacker if I started testing with a full jar.I would be scared to back down on the FO as it might not throw as well just as Candles sciences Macintosh apple did going from 8% down to 6% which at 6% gave me more of a burnt smell. So what are your thoughts?
  22. Candles and Supplies in PA - has a Black Ice. Not sure how accurate It is but it is strong.
  23. Cosmo / Carrie - I am very sorry that you feel that my post was unfair. -- My intention was not to make people think ill of your company in any kind of way. I was afraid that the site had got hacked. I still have the email that I sent you guys stating that I had thought the site had got hacked. -- You were definitely on point with resolving the issue and I was very happy with your immediate and professional customer service. I also did call to thank you for the soap cutter. I spoke to Molly I believe was her name - you were in the middle of making soap!! -- Since then I have made soaps to test, and I must say I am very, very pleased with the colorants. I am sure others will be left very satisfied using your mica's in their soap making journey!! So I hope things are clear from my end!
