  1. Here are the three testers after 2 hours buning. All the wicks are mushrooming even if they seem to curl properly. It's hard to test because of air circulating but I put them in a closet and shut the door. Not too happy with these wicks... until now!
  2. yes you should try. I never loved much containers, I thnk pillars can let your creativity flow better. JMO
  3. Thanks! ChandlerWicks yes, I make paraffin pillars also there are some recent pics here in the gallery!
  4. Hi all! This is one of the last batch I made. Palm pillars scented Evergreen. Thanks for looking!
  5. pillars are not so hard to make! new testing for my wicks going on but here in my shop there is a lot of air convection (infact I am freezing) so flames are flickering a lot.
  6. I was thinking the same things after posting it.. for jars it can be misleading, because the glass plays a role, but for pillars whi not, just have to pour the exact mix you would use for your candles.
  7. Hey look at this! Another great way for testing!! http://www.technische-geflechte.de/site/english/about-the-wick/wick-selection/slab-test.html
  8. it's similar, what I don't like is that off centered melt pool!
  9. Ok will try that. I found this useful page! http://www.technische-geflechte.de/site/english/about-the-wick/typical-wick-stands.html
  10. I stick wicks to the bottom with stickums, and they are waxed, I don't know if I can twist them!
  11. Sorry I took misleading pics, top and bottom of jars are the same size, it's the perspective that makes them look like something else LOL. I will let them go, and see what happens. The middle pic is CD10 and I didn't expect such curling, melt pool is off center!
  12. Ops yes it was a mistake. Here are the pics. The CSN9 is in the small tumbler, 2.55 inch diameter. The CD10 and CD12 are in the larger tumbler, 3 inches wide. CSN9 has big mushrooms, CD10 is fine but too small and curled a lot, I'll guess I'll use CD12.
  13. The CDN is mushrooming a lot. CD12 not at all, CD10 a little bit. It seems the smallest wicks are developing mushrooms. But I don't have a full melt pool, even with the CD12. This is after another 3 hours test!
  14. CSN is still mushrooming, but it's more straight, the CDs have less mushrooming but are curling a lot!
  15. Not for what I know but I'm kinda new to containers an these wicks, I usually make pillars with flat braid not waxed..
  16. the FO was Fall Harvest it was a Bert's scent. Maybe it's because of the FO.
  17. Great candle!! I didn't use much color just a drop or two to make swirls. Now I lit all the candles again. I hate mushrooms!
  18. I'm letting candles cool then will light them again. The CSN wick looked good it was a bit folded along with the other testers.. don't know. I used 5% FO in all candles, the CSN has the worst mushrooms, it counts three. And to me it's a bit small for the candle... who knows.
  19. No FMP in the first burn of 3 hours and a half. All the wicks are mushrooming, including the CSN, wich splitted in two halves. The wood wick was not trimmed leveled, so it was burning only on one side, now I trimmed and leveled and it's going right. Will stop the first session burn for now!
  20. Test going on, the CD10 and CD12 are behaving the same way, curling and maybe are developing mushrooms (can't say exactly now). The tumblers are 3 inch wide, after two hours the melt pool is not full, larger with CD12, the hot throw is good in both... The small tumbler 2.5 inch wide is going with a CSN9 but it seems a little underwicked. I will let them burn and see. The wood wick today is not so good small flame and no throw.
  21. Yes I know how it is, you have to get organized to test properly without getting mad, but once you find the way that works for you you'r halfway done!
  22. Thanks, I'm liking it. after 4 hours it has a full MP about half inch deep, the glass is warm but not too hot. Tomorrow I'll test the other wicks, all candles are made with same wax, color and scent.
  23. Here it is. I also made a "swirl". The wood wick I have come from UK. This is the medium size and maybe it's a bit large for this tumbler, anyway it's burning quietly, a nice crackling sound and a good throw.
  24. I use a lot of peak's oils and they always throw good for me. I made some testers today, with CDs and CSN. Tomorrow I'll start the testing. In the meanwhile just for fun I made a candle with wood wick, and it's burning and throwing really good!
