  1. Mine did the same-I hate greasy rings too. I'm an SLSA girl. It takes the yuckies down the drain with it. Who has time for housework???
  2. Is this the recipe. Seems very much like a bath bomb??? Glo
  3. How big is this wholesale operation? If they are small or just starting out they may not be able to purchase in the huge amounts that some of the large wholesale suppliers can. The more you buy the cheaper the cost as we all know. If they are buying a few cases and just tacking on a couple of bucks they may not be able to match your price. One other thing-petroleum prices have jumped the costs for wax and Fo suppliers. Our supplier(a large one) probably just priced himself out of our business. Fo's went up 4.00 a bottle and wax 8.00 a case from just a few months ago. Just a Thought:smiley2: Glo
  4. Thanks ladies, I think maybe it is starting to make more sense to me. Glo:smiley2:
  5. We have contacted some suppliers today and pretty much been told the butter is not graded. One site said shea does not come in grades. Another said "Sorry but we don't use the grading system". Apparently there is no Official Grading System....which is why some some websites say that theirShea Butter differs in smell, textures, color, etc....it is not government regulated like other commodities. So Donna then most people use the unrefined? The site said the refined was better for use in high end items which I guess confused me since it is a cheaper product.
  6. BUMP:waiting: , Inquiring minds want to know. Sombody is holding out on me:wave:, or is this post just boring, yeah that must be it. The only time I had a hot post was the one on Bullfrog Candles:cry2: . Glo
  7. I've been checking into shea butter properties and ran across this description of grading. Understanding Grades of Shea Butter Below, you will find information to help you better understand the various grades of shea butter. The quality Grades are A, B, C, D and F. When chemical and physical analysis is performed on your butter, the grade is determined by the presence or absence of important nutrients. Grade A is the highest and best grade for personal care uses. Grade A has the highest amount of important nutrients and the lowest amount of undesirable ingredients. On the other hand, Grade D has the lowest amount of the important nut rients and contains high levels of undesirable nutrients. Grade B and Grade C is noted for having little or no undesirable nutrients but lower levels of the important nutrients. Grade B and Grade C are still very useful in the personal care industry. Loss of important nutrients and collection of undesirable ingredients may result from careless and improper extract ion techniques, and/ or improper post extraction management of the butter. Finally, Grade deterioration of shea but ter destined for the personal care industry may occur during refining the ref ining process. During the refining process, up to 75% or more of the important nutrients helpful in personal care management can be lost , thereby reducing the quality of the but ter. Refined and ultra refined shea butter is always Grades C, or D. Grade C and Grade D are more suitable for chocolate industry. US chocolate industry, by law, cannot use shea butter in the manufacture of chocolate. In the USA the law demands that only cocoa butter is used in the manufacture of chocolate. No cocoa butter substitutes are permitted. So what i'm getting out of this is all refined Shea is either grade C or D. So we are using a product with less of the important nutrients and quality??? When we purchase in coops and such is the grade ever mentioned by the supplier? Is anyone on here more informed on Shea grading than I? Please chime in with your knowledge.
  8. I wondered if anyone else thought this:highfive: . I got some lotion in a swap over Christmas (not from CT:smiley2: ) that has mink oil in it. Smells good at first but then the funky, musky, little furry ferrety smell kicks in:shocked2: . I thought maybe it was going bad. Glo
  9. Jennie where are you from? I'm from SW PA. 60 miles N of Pittsburgh. Glo:wave:
  10. OK, I know the soap dish and I've searched to high heaven but I'll be dad gummed if I can find any thing about this scrub. I find, holy cow, holy moley, holy crap buy no holy grail scrub. GLO
  11. Good luck-the search has been on for about 6 months now. Sometimes can locate a 4oz one but that is it. Anchor hocking manufactures one exclusively for Home Interior and won't sell to anyone else.:embarasse Glo
  12. Or you could go to Kmart and for 7.00 get the "Martha Mold". Three slot drawer organizer (Martha Stewart). Holds 3 small batches at once. Glo
  13. Yeah, I know I could FIND the directions on the web somewhere, but when I am in the middle of a batch and pull something out to use I just like to look at my package and follow directions. Gotta run and fire up the computer, find info, try to print and usually the printer gives me grief. Not to mention printer ink cartridges are so expensive. I guess I'm too impatient and think the supplier should print directions on their products. I swear I've got a few things from suppliers that are just marked with a batch #. So now when I look in my drawer it's like-OK what is this stuff. UM, mica, titanium dioxide, candle glitter???? Good for the companies I guess. While I wonder what it is, I'm probably buying more and marking the packages myself. Another pet peave is FO not marked B&B safe or not. How much time I waste looking them up and marking my bottles. OK ranting is over:tiptoe: (I'm slinking away now).
  14. I did the same thing. You have to mix the UM with a little oil or something before putting in traced soap. I am always disappointed with WSP things that come with absolutely NO directions:mad: . Plastic bags with no info at all. A couple of sentences of direction would go a long way. Glo
  15. LMAO!! All kidding aside, I hope you get an answer from Debbie, MM. She is a reasonable business woman. quote I would venture a guess that after all this time an answer is not to be forthcoming. Glo
  16. Did they seem expensive to anyone else? $15.00 for 1.1 lbs refined shea butter???? Glo
  17. Ha ha, Toke and a cold one. Good one. Reminds me of my nephew. When he was real little and just learning to talk he used to tell people-My daddy sells Toke. BIL worked for Coca Cola. LOL:yay:
  18. If I remember SC prices correctly it's not hard to spend $25.00. Glo
  19. Hey SYR, What er you do'in over here??:smiley2: Gloworm
  20. Suprisingly enough you could possibly get your money back from UPS. I had a box of jars I bought on classifieds arrive with 6 broken. Filed with UPS and they said they needed proof of worth. Well I couldn't supply this-these jars are difficult to find. They said the shipper would need to file proof of worth. I never contacted her except to tell her of breakage. Months later when I forgot all about this incident I received a check from UPS for much more than I thought my claim was worth (more then I filed for originally). GLo
  21. Neat, this must have been beer week. I tried beer hp on Friday. Really like it. Maybe you should have scented it Mary Jane and named it Beer in the Weeds!! Glo
  22. Julie, Where is the Gel at in Walmart? I finally found the aloe juice but the gel wasn't there. Connie
  23. Soaps don't have a wick:cheesy2: That will tell ya what is easier!!! I hate wicks!! Glo
  24. Does this vary by state or what? We have all of our insurance through State Farm and called our agent Friday and they said they don't do product liability. Offered me insurance if I have a home based store front where people may fall and get hurt but not on the products.:undecided
