  1. Bunny, LS has to be slightly lye heavy to insure that all the oils are saponified. Borax will neutralize the excess. Try a 100% lard LS, doesn't foam much but is very moisturizing
  2. When diluting, cut the paste into chunks and heat gently. I usually just turn off the heat and let it sit overnight. Tomorrow turn the heat on low and it should dissolve. High coconut soaps will disolve overnight, but will be thin
  3. Bunny, I hate to tell you this. You can't "superfat" LS the way you do CP. Any excess oils will float to the top.
  4. FCO is very popular because it is non-staining
  5. Fco is non-staining I make a base of 80% cyclo 20% FCO to that base I add up to 10% FO The FCO will help "hold" the scent longer
  6. I do roughly 80% shea 20% oils, add up to 2% Dri-Flo AF and it turns out great. Like others have said, if it feels greasy you used too much.
  7. Stick blender was a no-no. Add water cut soap paste into chunks and let it sit. Keep breaking up clumps and stir gently. A lot of my LS will disolve overnight with little stirring required
  8. With the soy whip I don't think you are whipping long enough. I use a kitcken aide and beat the heck out of it. After the first minute or two it will look as though it is seperating, keep going,it will come together. I have some in a closed car that is being tested through heat cycles, temps reaching 110%. After 2 weeks, no signs of seperation.
  9. Ingredient labeling is not required on free samples
  10. Thi s seems to be a result of contact with air. If I let my solutions cool too much, I see this. I make about a gallon of lye solution . I store it in 2 1/2 gal jugs. You want to minimize contact with air
  11. Sound as though it was still in gell stage. Give it time, it will still be soap.
  12. With lotions you might be waiting longer than needed to bottle
  13. fewer minerals and/or heavy metals You can have the finest product in the world, but proper marketing makes a huge difference in the bottom line
  14. It grow all over the place around here. Look in moist areas, jewelweed likes water also called wild touch me nots
  15. Health food stores have it, but it's about $7#
  16. That would work and be a little softer since the fbb is a syndet cream soap
  17. I've heard of several people who set out contianers to catch rainwater or it could be as simple as someone who lives in the country and has a cistern as their water source. Marketing, label appeal:D
  18. I know several people that do that. I think you would have to place the soap on wire racks to allow good even circulation, or turn them quite often to prevent warping
  19. I remember some of it. Seams that the ph tends to drift upward. I beleive Jenn at lotioncrafters addressed the problem
  20. My take on "adding at trace" is that is something else you might forget. Maybe I'm getting old. but I put everything in up front, including EO/FO
  21. www.theherbarie.com I beleive they carry it, if not try lotioncrafters
