In my IMAGINATION I can see them not only discussing trends and opinions that we and others put out there for the world to read, but also I believe they STEAL our IDEAS and RECIPES on virtually anything that could be useful to them. Paranoid? Maybe; But I'll give you odds if you want to gamble that I'm wrong. I think this, too. While I don't read/participate very often outside of the Fragrance section (and don't really recall seeing ideas/recipes being given out), I will bet the big guys are quietly watching (which I also think might be how many people are 'caught' and sent the "Cease and Desist" letters). The forum is a one-stop shop where they can find a bunch of candle business to investigate in one fell swoop.

Hm. Now I think I am even more confused! LOL. Who cares if a supplier reads about various complaints (slow shipping, no contact, weak FOs, what-have-you). I would hope they do (and I have even asked suppliers to come here and read the complaints, in order for them to improve!) Anyway, in reading the original post - I do see that we went way off the point... Luckily I don't buy candles (since I make my own) and I know they are created in a kitchen

That FO description sounds so good! I can feel my hips expanding as I read it. I also wanted to mention that a Sweet Potato Pecan Pie is available from BCN in the WYW scents: Sweet potatoes, vanilla, roasted pecans and caramelized butter baked with cinnamon, allspice and nutmeg make up this amazing dessert blend. OK, I see now. The end customer is being duped by the big companies, who are selling under the guise of a small/independent business. I wonder how much they charge as the independent business, compared to what they charge as the big company ...

Wow, I find that interesting and entirely plausible! I don't understand Dave's farewell post, but I totally relate to Chefmom's post about sharing recipes on Message Boards. I was into that on the old AOL message boards of the late 1990s, it was fun, but I ended up seeing so much stolen verbatim and made into recipe books that others sold. Sad. Anyway, this spying/stalking/imposter thing is also one of the big reasons I am so leary of making a Facebook fan/business page.

Yes ... it needs something to give it a bit more "umph" to make it memorable! And, I don't know if it's supposed to be an Autumn scent, or Summer scent or what... I actually asked for a blending idea or hint on the BC board a few months ago but I don't think anyone responded to my post. Oh well. Also, Dave - I now want to ask -- why is BC, aka "the other supplier", on your crap list? I also have been curious to find out why you parted ways with them...? :undecided

I don't know of any other supplier who does sell it besides BCN, but I don't know what the fuss is all about? It's OK to me, but not OMG, wow! it's a scent that confuses me, I guess. It's accurate to the name and strong OOB, not denying that, but I guess I don't "get it". I want to though!

Definitely get a small one of the BCN to check. My bottle could have been a bad luck fluke. It was really excellent. (also when you order 50+ you get a free sniffie). Anyway - on the one that I felt was the close or the same - it was Candle Science's! :smiley2:

I use(d) BCN's Mulberry for a loonnng time. Reordered and I received a bottle of what smelled like pure fuel/gas. I shook it up - still gas ... no berry/fruit came through. I was so unhappy (but I didn't try it in wax). As it happened, I had a sample of another company's Mulberry, and it smelled like the BC version I loved so I am considering the switch.

The other day I came across a sample of that scent from ICS. I cannot say if it's the same as CW (or if it's even still on ICS' site) but it smelled good to me!
