  1. I took it out of the mold this morning. Since it's the first batch I'm considering selling I didn't get fancy with it. Just SFIC white base with walnut shell powder and fragrance. It looks like a piece of marble! I could just sit here for the rest of the day and marvel at my creation.... Now I have another question so I'm hijacking my own thread...lol. How do you ladies, and guys too, clean your silicone soap molds? Do you recommend soap and water? Wipe out with paper towel only? I can smell the fragrance in the mold so I'm hoping when I clean it out it will go away. Thank you!
  2. With shipping going up you'll probably start seeing minimum order amounts for free shipping increase also. If someone currently offers free shipping on orders over $75 they'll probably increase it to $100 or more so if you buy that way prepare to start spending more if you want free shipping.
  3. I just poured my first batch of soap in a silicone soap mold purchased in the coop (thanks Jen!). My questions are, how long should I let it set up prior to removing it from the mold and then how long should I wait to cut it? Thank you!
  4. Hey ks, The $7 is for the 8 oz but when you go to the order page and change the size to 16 oz it changes to $13.
  5. Hey kk, He's on ebay. Look up the seller name onlyfragancellc and you'll find him. He only has about 20 fragrances or so available now though. It does seem it's taking a long time to get the fo's listed.
  6. SOW - a lined lid is one that has a liner, like polystyrene, inside the lid. I've included pics of a lined lid and an unlined lid. Pam - yes, from what I understand containers for lotions, cremes, and such should include a lined lid.
  7. For those of you who use containers with screw on lids for your candles do you use lined lids or unlined lids? I wouldn't think the lined lids would be necessary for candles but I thought I'd pose the question to the pros. Thank you!
  8. Whoops, sorry CW. Didn't mean to repeat your post. We must have been replying at the same time...lol
  9. Personal accountability? That's so 1980's. Just kidding. I agree with you. Today, if someone actually stood up and took personal responsibility for something they caused or did I think it would be such a shock to society that it would be a headline news story.
  10. Thanks Scented. If you know, do they smell different enough that each could be added to a line or would you stick with one since the differences are subtle? I currently sell Cranberry Marmalade, and it's a good seller, and don't want to try the other two if there's not much difference between the three.
  11. I'm guilty of doing it too but I do it to a lot of sites so I can see how their shopping cart works.
  12. If it were a tapered jar I would say it might clean up but it looks like a straight jar so I don't think it will. Why not burn it all the way down and see?
  13. How similar are Cranberry Orange Spice from ICS, Cranberry Marmalade from CS, and Cranberry Apple Marmalade from Peaks?
  14. Thanks for the suggestions! I think I'll try the mitre box method first and if things work out then upgrade to a more robust cutter. Is there an advantage to the box being stainless steel as opposed to plastic? Lowe's has a plastic one for $5.00.
  15. I'm the world's worst at trying to cut something straight, like a loaf of soap. I would start out at one inch thick at the top and by the time I got all the way through the loaf it would be an inch and a half thick at the bottom. Is there something short of investing in a loaf cutter than can be used? I'm just starting out making soap (mainly m&p) and don't want to invest in an expensive soap cutter just yet. Thanks!
  16. If they charge $65 for a candle and people are dumb enough to buy it then more power to 'em!
  17. I know of whom you speak. They contradict themselves by saying their candles are 100% soy and then implying that they're a "non wax candle that melts into a Shea butter oil....". As far as I know shea butter is not soy and soy is not shea butter. It would seem in order to command those prices you should add jazz music to your website, offer only a handful of fragrances with exotic names, and be a manager/former manager of a celebrity.
  18. Has anyone had any experience with this company? I know there have been a few posts that have mentioned the Tassi Lavender as being a good fo but has anyone used any of their other fragrances? Thank you!
  19. Thanks Steve but at this point I'm only interested in the 9 and/or 12 oz size. I'm not even sure I'll go with that particular jar but it looks easy to wick and with the lid it does look fairly nice. Do you know off hand how much wax the 9 oz jars will hold? What kind of wax do you use, if you don't mind sharing?
  20. Thanks Beth, The 12 oz is about 3.25" in diameter and the 9 oz is about 2.75" in diameter so which size CD would you recommend starting with in each? CD18 for the 12 and CD16 for the 9?
  21. Good morning all, I'm thinking about adding another collection to my line and was considering the 9 oz or 12 oz salsa jars with lids and 415 soy wax. For those of you who use either/both of those jars which sells the best for you and if you use 415 or soy wax in general which wick would you recommend starting with? Thank you!
  22. Hi deb426, That's why I'm asking for other opinions. I personally wouldn't care as long as the design was different enough (which I think mine is) that it wouldn't be confused with someone else's. I've taken your advice BTA and have contacted the owner of anthō and asked for their approval in using the design I came up with. I'll let you know what the outcome is.
