  1. Oh the sinking glitter that is a major con.
  2. Mine is honeysuckle that FO is an instant headache. I make it but I use a mask and all the doors and window have to be open.
  3. There are no real pro or cons either you want to use it or you don't. I add it regularly but make sure you use cosmetic glitter not the craft store junk. Most craft store glitters is not safe for gel candles. Like anything else in gel wax a little goes a long ways. Don't use a bunch of glitter.
  4. You most likely will have to go up a bit in your wicking but as it has gel wax in it I prefer to error on the side of caution. So burn it all the way. Oh and as to the gel wicks, I don't like any thing that says small, medium and large for candle making. I want exact information for my candle making.
  5. You really need to burn that all the way down before you decide to change your wick size.
  6. Everyone has a different opinion here read this and you will see. http://www.candletech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=687
  7. Well I have 4 differant vanillas Peak's French Vanilla Nature Garden's Vanilla Lace KY's Southern Vanilla BCN Enchanted Vanilla Each has something about it that I like and for some strange reason I can not bring myself to drop any of them.
  8. Interesting, I would be interested in the results of your burns when you get them done.
  9. It is the same thing. He is just using a marketing strategy. All soy waxes start from soybeans.
  10. Sharyl that was pretty much what I was going to start her off with. Then she can ask questions as she needs after that.
  11. First thing is you need to research gel wax. Gel comes in a solid form and needs to be melted just like any other was does. There are some major things that you should and should not ever do in gel go to the old archive and read all the posts there. When I get to my shop I will post some links you need to read.
  12. Here is another site with several kinds of candle making machines. http://www.supercandle.com/candle/machine01.htm
  13. It a machine you can buy to make candles here is one, but I have seen many differnt kinds http://www.pr.com/company-profile/product-pic/1180-1591
  14. Well with Champagne you don't realy mind the bubbles so try pouring cooler as cool as you can and still be able to pour. Yes you can add several differant things to the hurricane wax to make the wax have a higher melt point. Micro wax and A2A (will raise the melt point up a lot). There is a few more but as I am at home I don't have access to that information right now. I use an A2A & Micro wax.
  15. I make mke cokes closer to the way Soapy does. I don't scent my cubes. I do a little differant, I pour my gel in to the glass 3/4 way full. I let it cool a bit then add the cubes. Then I dribble gel over the cubes.
  16. Well I use 50/50 gel/paraffin and whip it with a wire wisk for foam in my beer candles.
  17. Good question. I have only made one eletric hurricane for my son out of huricane wax and he uses it as a night light so thinking about that I think I would leave it on for 24 hours.
  18. That is not a bad burn time. Floaters no deeper than that should burn 3 to 6 hours.
  19. To me it depends on the candle I am making for tealights and pies I use the HTP but for deeper and/or wider candles I use zinc cored.
  20. I don't go for a large flame in my gel. I would say the total height of the flame is maybe 1/4" to 1/2"
  21. I live in a really dry area normaly but every now and then our humidity will spike and I have not found any real differance in the burns now making them that another story.
  22. I can get Lavander and Spearmint and patchouli also to throw nicely .
  23. Fading is one of the main problem with adding color, I have less fading using Liquid dyes adding UV does help. Reds and purples are the worst for fading. Some FO will even cause it to fade faster Mulberry being my #1 FO that causes fading.
