  1. I dont know how much of a coffee scent this is, i think more of a dessert, but I poured creme brulee from BCN last night and I am not sure if I like it or not. :undecided
  2. It sounds like thats a good one! Are those of you that have used it, using it in soy?
  3. I am wondering, there are so many types out there, what do you all find so far, to be your best choice for a coffee type/cappuccino/hazelnut type fragrance oil? I was thinking of trying the cafe caramel from NG. What are your favorites?
  4. I just tried the downy, and the sunwashed linen....and let me tell you....those are STRONG!! Awesome scents!! I used a tart made with the downy and it was literally blow the doors off strong lol. Seems they are pretty good so far. =)
  5. Yeah I am trying to find nice ways of saying things. I am going to make a folder up for her like I use that has all the fill in the blank type stuff so she can just fill it in...like date, Fo used, where it was purchased from...etc etc...all the needed details, maybe that will help :rolleyes2
  6. Well, my sister is having this issue. lol. I have made candles for about the last 5 years, but didnt do alot of testing at first. And they were all paraffin, which in my opinion seems alot easier than soy. I know you have to test even when making paraffin candles, it just seems in soy, less scents throw then in paraffin, so more work to figure it all out it seems. But I do be sure to document everything and test everything now =) Anyway, my sister just makes the candles, and sells them in gift baskets to people at her church and doesnt test them, doesnt document anything about how she made them. She couldnt make the same one again because she doesnt keep track of anything. I love her...but i have some tealights, that i use because i know to watch them now...but she made them in the clear plastic cups, and super soft container wax, they liquify completely, but the wick is big, and it falls over to the side a little when the wax liquifies and then it melts the side of the tealight cup!! Then there are a few soy container that melted right down the middle. I have mentioned to her that you have to document everything so you know how to make it again, and that she should always make an extra to test. She hasnt done it though. :undecided Not sure what else to say to her lol I love her but shes selling these candles like this! So not sure what to tell her lol
  7. yeah I know, kinda pricey to use that much oil LOL. My head hurts from making candles last night, I can smell it so strong in the house im ready for some fresh air. Maybe ill try less next time. Cause MAN they are STRRRONG!! lol. Maybe i will try some stearic next time too. Thanks for the input!
  8. What kind of wax do you use? DO you happen to know how the Vanilla Crunch does in soy...I have a sample of that one but havent tried it yet. I made some tarts with Downy and Soothing Lavender...and they are STRONG!!! So far so good. =)
  9. Guess what?? Im still using the ecosoya vb....and I made some tarts. I took all of your suggestions, I paid attention to the temp it heated to...and didnt let it get too hot, not more than 180-190...and then I added the FO at 175, then I stirred like CRAZY!!! And then I let it cool down to 130, stirred more, and then poured.....I already melted one of the Downy scented tarts, and OMG!!! It is STRONG!!!!!!!!!! It hasnt even cured!!!! YEAH YEAH YEAH!!! I think its working!!! I used 1 ounce of oil to 8 ounces of wax. It seems to be working great. So, Im going to try the votives again once my wicks get here, i got some rrd 34's according to some advice i was given and hopefully those work well. They are still getting a hairline circular crack sometimes though, but other than that I dont care so much if I have scent throw LOL. I guess if im going to sell them it does matter though. So thats the only issue so far. But it seems to be going better! Im happy!! lol. Only thing is..the tealights. My sisters are the only ones that are melting my tarts, and I think its cause her wicks have a hotter flame. Not sure. But the walmart tealights arnt cutting it. LOL. So anyway theres my news for the night, or morning, however you want to look at it. LOL
  10. They have really good prices, and a large selection of oils. I found them on ebay. They have a website too. I am testing a bunch of them now. So far they seem awesome! Will let you all know how they turn out. Just wanted to know if anyone else has used scents from there. Thanks!
  11. u can just buy the embeds from a place that sells them. i would do a search for coffee bean embeds. there are places that have some great ones!
  12. you can get wax embeds....that look like real coffee beans, if those are real, and make your candle the same way, just put the wax coffee beans in there so they will melt along with the wax when burned. =) Laura
  13. i wanna be in one of those votive swaps next time! if i can figure out how to get these votives to throw some scent lol. So yeah let me know about the bubblegum man lol hehe :rolleyes2
  14. This is one of my favorite scents! I am not going to change the name, but i have seen it renamed Monkey Kisses. I thought that was kinda cute.
  15. im sorry if im kinda slow on the uptake, but what does pp stand for OH and also, do you all think that the temp i heat it to when i melt it makes a difference? Again sorry if im being kinda dumb lol but i just melt the ecosoya vb in a glass measuring pitcher type thing in the microwave cause it said it could be microwaved. Do i need to pay attention to what temp its heating to? I just microwave it til its melted. Laura
  16. WOW! Those are some awesome votives! Well im going to try one more thing before i give up on this wax i have, then if it doesnt work, its out with the old and in with the new lol Laura
  17. ok i could try that, it doesnt hurt to try! =) i will let you know how things go
  18. Thanks again...=) Kaybee, do you use that Ky puresoy? How does it work for you. BTW I checked out your website, its so cute, i love the graphics and your candles are really nice! Laura
  19. i poured at 125, because it was recommended to pour at 140, and they crack like crazy when i do. So i poured cooler. Maybe it still needs to be a tad hotter, i dont know. But from what I hear about the ky stuff i think im gonna try that next =) Just wanted to tell you all that im so greatful you are all here to help! Its wonderful for someone who has alot of questions, like me LOL. Laura
  20. I always put 7 pounds in mine. And used a ladle =) Always worked well for me, not too full. Just right. In my opinion =)
  21. This ecosoya vb is just not cutting it for me. I cant smell any of the tarts im making with it either. I dont know what the heck is going on. With the tarts, I add the oil now at 175, and pour at 125. Ive let them cure for about 4 days or more before I melt them. I just dont smell anything. UGH! Is soy really this touchy? lol When i made candles in the past they were always paraffin and I never had this much trouble with scent throw. LOL. And these are tarts!! How difficult can it be?? lol. I know im probably annoying you all with the vb issues, i just wonder what the heck im doing wrong. The oils are from bittercreek north, peaks, places like that, so its not that they are low quality. Scents that are strong are not even putting off much for throw, and im using the oils at about 8% for these tarts ive made. I dont get it. Am I missing something?? I think im going to go ahead and switch to a different wax. I just wanted to ask if there is something you all think im just not doing right?? Does soy need to cure a super long time? Im thinking of trying next, the KY pillar/votive wax for votives/tarts. And KY puresoy for containers to test next. I was going to just use up what I have for the vb, and make tarts and some votives but im not getting ANY THROW!! So what do ya think, should I stick it on ebay?? LOL I dont know what to do next, its not working lol. Laura
  22. I was told to let them cure for about 2 weeks. What do you all think? I am impatient and dont like to wait lol.
  23. http://www.candlesupply.com/sniffies.html Check that out for all the info =) Laura
