  1. You could add more salt.... Dump the jar contents into a big bucket and add salt til it looks no longer wet.
  2. Why would the salt blow up? The melting point of salt is over 1,400 *F. I would not put the glass jar on a heater, just because of potential thermal shock, but not because of any chemical reactions. The scented salt goes on the warmer directly.
  3. I make my own using various Microsoft Office products, usually MS Access. One CM/PL account sends their original work to a printer, like Lightening Labels for the great laminated label stock. Label design is the most time consuming, yet rewarding part of new product development.
  4. Making cosmetics.com carries the PEG-40 castor, but in large quantities only these days. I have seen some things from the on Amazon in smaller quantities. Lotioncrafter.com has butylene glycol.
  5. SC mango tea is holding strong at .7 oz PPO in CP.
  6. Peak scents are always wonderful. i have not used their mango though on another project i was introduced to Sweetcakes mango tea. All i get is mango, no tea in soap.
  7. For candles? Soap? NG has a fresh squeezed orange that smells pretty juicy. I use it in blends.
  8. No on the glycerin. It is a humectant and will make the salt a soggy mess. Moonshine-doubt any explosions but some rust removing additives in the salt could make the fragrance smell funky over time.
  9. I would not use salt with additives. not knowing exactly what the additives are, i am not sure how those variables would cause the scents to react with anything other than the salt, kwim?I do not use DPG on the salt itself. If i were selling refresher oils, i'd consider using DPG if i thought people were likely to use it directly in a warmer without salt...
  10. Same here. A local crafter uses the pressed salt tabs. The ones that are a few inches long and an inch wide or so. She does really well offering a 3x4 plastic zip bag for $4. People love to mix and match.
  11. So happy it is working well for you
  12. My biggest issue is letting go. If i could outsource more i would have more time to work on new innovations. Let someone else print my labels, do the accounting, print promos, list on the web site, photograph product, and on and on and on....
  13. So strange! I have even washed mine in soap and water. Is that size sealed like the bigger sizes?
  14. Lemme test it in soy before you commit . I don't want to be responsible for a #Fail
  15. I use the 8 oz tins from candlescience and (to date) have never had a rust problem with them using soy, beeswax &soy, palm or parasoy. A vanilla tester stained a container, but that's about it. I re-use testers over and over.
  16. I used it in a blend in CP, and plan to make a batch with it alone. In the blend it was perfectly behaved and smells the best of all i have bought since the start of the Great Strawberry Search beating all NG varieties hands down. I need to put it into some wax. I have a feeling it will be great in Palm, but not as easy in soy. I hope to prove myself wrong! Will let you know.
  17. I resisted sweetcakes for years. Now i am kicking myself. Like scent works, the prices reflect some fab quality scent oils. They can usually be used at lower usage rates in my blends. The depth and complexity of the scents makes them totally worth the investment for me. So far i have tried in soap: Margarita, Gin Martini, Blueberry, Blueberry Verbena, Strawberry, Mango tea, Peony petals, Tahitian Petals, Sweetgrass, Sun ripened raspberry, And a few more. All are good alone and great as blenders.
  18. 70:30 is probably a good start. Peppermint tends to take over, so i would go lighter with it in the mint portion. The apple mint smelled more smooth than sharp like peppermint, if that makes sense.
  19. BBW has/had an apple mint that was a neat twist on apple.
  20. Kpangnan Butter, kokum butter, cocoa butter, meadowfoam oil and avocado oil.
  21. I need to smell them again, but there was one that smelled like a fresh berry at first whiff OOB. The later part of the sniff and dry down revealed the icky, chemically part. I have all of them on blotters now to get a better sense of them, along with the CP notes.I'll let you know how they fare and compare to the Sweetcakes version.
  22. I'm sure it will be fine, esp if the PO lady helped out. So long as the cap stays put, and nothing oozes out the cap gaps it should arrive in fine shape. Good luck with the dupe!
  23. I bought every strawberry including strawberries and champagne and strawberry shake from NG. Hate to say it, but i really dislike all of them. I know i should not judge til they are in product, but they all have the same strange, offputting note to them. Strawberry shake is the best of them OOB. Ordered the strawberry from sweetcakes. Hoping it is better.
