  1. I would classify CW White Tea as a strong thrower, maybe not super-strong, but an unlit open candle will scent a bedroom/bath combination lightly. White Tea varies from vendor to vendor, but CW White Tea always has that "Ooooh, what is that?", or "I REALLY like that!" reaction. It has a little sweetness, but something different in the finish. I just ordered the Red Apple Peel, because I like a nice, straight apple in the fall, and it was so highly recommended on this forum. I hope it pans out on it's own, and I might mix it with CS Strudel & Spice for an Apple Strudel!
  2. One of my favorite scents is Yankee's Autumn Wreath. It has the apple & cinnamon fall theme, but also adds a little cedar. It immediately makes me think of pumpkins and falling leaves. I know a few vendors carry an Autumn Wreath dupe, those of you who have tried them, which do you like best? And, if anyone has used TN's Dried Apple Wreath, is this close? TIA!
  3. A great Apple/cinnamon/cider oil is Cozy Home from Millcreek! All their FO's are tested in soy.
  4. I have used Candle Cocoon's oils, and been very happy. Lyschel has great CS, and will go above and beyond to educate you on wick choices, also. Sultry Angel is a favorite, and Serendipity is strong in soy. Also had great luck with Bunchberry & Moss, Sage a & Chamomile, and Solace (very refreshing!) Oh, forgot Pumpkin Coffee! All used in soy. Be not afraid!!
  5. My vote is with Candlescience Very Vanilla, which, according to an old post of Fragrance Twins on this forum, was supposed to be very close to identical to Candle Cocoon's Vanilla Voodoo. Really, it all comes down to what do YOU like in a vanilla scent? Do you want a true vanilla bean, a rich vanilla, a vanilla coconut, a sweet buttercream??? I would put CS Very Vanilla and CC's Vanilla Voodoo in the rich category. They just kind of envelope you in a cradle of vanilla... MMMMMMmmmmmmm
  6. I have Googled this twice today, and gotten the"site suspended" result, also. This is a huge bummer! I know I will be looking for a great true pine tree scent to replace Rocky Mountain Pine. I am surprised that the economic times haven't driven more of the small vendors out of business. Not good news!
  7. Clean/fresh scents: Peaks' Ocean, with or without a touch of their Freesia, the Freesia does not make it floral at all. Peak's Cool Citrus Basil, very fresh. Moonworks Celestial Sea, the best of the Cactus & Sea Salt types, you can smell the driftwood. Peak's Black Canyon is a great scent, but does have some musk in the background. I would only put about .2 oz per pound of soap based on the way it throws in soy, super strong! Just a minute, going downstairs to look at the rest of my stash....... Okay, I'm back! Herbal: Elements Manuka Lavender, a slightly sweet lavender that is wonderful, and SC Aveda type Sapmoss. Fresh, Candlewic's Spa and SC The Thymes "Eucalyptus" dupe. This is a soapy fresh scent, not very eucalyptusy?? scent! Citrus: BB Energy, Ky Mandarin Spice, SC Citron and Fugue, and Moonworks Spirit of Avalon, a lime/musk scent that is unusual and reminds me of Bay Rum without the spice. I think I forgot SC's Green Clover and Aloe type, a grassy fresh scent, and I know Peak's carries this as well! Oh, and Lonestar has a great straight Lavender, and Sage and Citrus dupe! BG and Peak's Lavender is a soapy one, and I have alot of friends that prefer those, but LS Lavender is more true to my nose! Just thinking, the men I know do seem to prefer the "soapy" lavender. Sorry this was so long & rambling, HTH!!
  8. That is wonderful news, I am so glad because everyone is wanting more of her RMP. It is so soothing, and reminds me of our favorite vacation spot on the coast of Oregon.
  9. Since crochet is a passion, I love seeing these bath puffs! The worsted kitchen cottons (Sugar and Cream, Peaches & Creme, and Lion Kitchen Cotton), can be thick and heavy when wet, and take a while to dry. I would definitely want to wash these at least weekly, with a vinegar rinse, to keep them fresh. The nylon tulle would be much too scratchy for "private parts", and I don't think the acrylic would be that great to wash bodies with. But, I do have the best luck with a cheap acrylic on dishes, it dries quicker, and is a little more abrasive on dried food. The Red Heart Eco-Cotton might be the best of both worlds, since it does have some recycled polyester, it may dry quicker than 100% cotton. I will have to try it and see! I do have a few Japanese Magic Scrubber crochet books, but have not, as of yet, tried the antibacterial yarn. There are 2 types, one with silver threads, and one totally acrylic. I know the Red Heart Super Saver makes great Swiffer Covers, and really attracts the dust and dog hair!
  10. I remember late last November when I placed an order, I didn't hear anything, for two weeks, and then the order was at my door! I hope she is still in business, if anything, just for her Rocky Mountain Pine, which is heavenly! I tried Orange Spice, and Warm Gingerbread, and was underwhelmed, but RMP is bliss!
  11. I have only put these in M&P soap, but surely they would translate to shower gel also. My favorites have been SS Japanese Pear & Ginseng, a mix of mostly Peak's Ocean & a touch of Peak's Freesia, and SC Apothecary Coriander (a dupe of Kiehl's Coriander). I have SC Kiehl's Grapefruit dupe, and OOB my daughter says it is a dead ringer for the Kiehl's Grapefruit Shower Gel she has. I would also like to try SC Apothecary Vanilla. The guys would like Moonworks Celestial Sea, a sea salt & driftwood scent. All of the above can be unisex, none are flowery or sugary. HTH!
  12. Candle Science and Peak's were the first two companies I ordered from, and both are top notch in service and quality! CS oils I love are Strudel & Spice, White Tea (different from Candlewic's), Very Vanilla (rich and buttery), and Apple & Bourbon (mostly apple w/a sweet woody note). Their Smoke & Odor Eliminator smells like a Bubble Gum and Clove mix, but really works! (I have 3 dogs, and my daughter's also part of the week!) I really want to try the Fig Tree, Angel Dupe, and Mac Apple, and maybe Sweet Pea & Vanilla. I have mixed Very Vanilla with Bluegrass Mountain Jasmine, and all family members love it! Also, VV, and BG Peppermint. But, the best use for Very Vanilla is by itself, as a warm, relaxing treat! I do use soy, have worked with both 415 and 464. 1 oz. per pound is enough. CS is one of the best!! I can't believe I forgot their Pumpkin Souffle', YUM YUM YUM, and did I mention YUUUUUUM???
  13. Their White Tea is fantastic in soy, I have used in both 415 and 464 with great results. A fruity scent with something extra in the afternote. Similar to CC's Cantalope & Lilly. I have had three scents that everyone seems to swoon over upon first sniff, Elements Patchouli Honey, Peak's French Vanilla Amber, and Candlewic's White Tea. This is from their Ulitmate Line. I have also put their Spa in 415, this was a favorite from the ladies at work, ages late 40's to early 60's. It is a fresh-type scent. I have been wanting to place an order for Red Apple Peel, Lemon and Lavender, Sage & Citrus, and Ylang Ginger. This would probably be a good time to order, since they are having a 40% off shipping sale, and I have been wanting to try C-3 wax. I tried LS's Sage and Citrus dupe, and was happy, but their Lemon & Lavender YC dupe is not on the mark! Does not smell the same, and no throw in soy! HTH!
  14. I poured 3 candles w/464 in DT status jars last night, 2 in BB's Pineapple Cilantro, and 1 in BB's Apricot Freesia. The Pineapple was poured @160, and the Apricot was poured @145. I had to heat gun the Pineapple candles this morning due to "funky" tops, the Apricot @140 was much better looking. Strange how this same wax can have all these different results.
  15. I also hope WSP reads this thread. I really wanted to try their Goat Milk and Honey lotion base, and the Silk and Shea M&P. People do seem to be happy with their products, but there have been recurring posts expressing frustration with their excessive shipping costs for several years. It definitely makes someone that hasn't ordered before leery to do so. If it were closer, I would pickup, but 6 hours in the car is too long & too expensive for a personal hobby. Although I have driven dogs 10 hours in the car to a show! Of course, that's different!
  16. I have a CD 16 in a Dollar Tree status jar upstairs w/a mixture of SC Aveda Sapmoss & Hibiscus halfway burnt halfway down, and is doing very well so far. It is almost clearing the sides, and the melt pool is 1/4". I just have the CD testing set from LS, I am liking the CD's better than the ECO. I had the same experience with them that you did, mzpickles. I had those CDN 18's from Candle Cocoon, so thought I would try them. I would love to see a Libbey Status jar, to see the difference vs. the Dollar Tree one. @candlemama: I purchased several different types of M&P base last month, and am "saving money" making my own bar soap, too! Isn't saving money great?!?
  17. Thank you for your replies, I did scoop out the wax with a long handled spoon, and pour into a 10 oz. apothecary from CS with another CDN 18. Of course, I could not wait to burn it again, and the CDN 18, that was doing well with barely a 1/4" melt pool after 6 hours in the status jar has an inch melt pool in the new jar after 4 hours. Obviously too hot for the apothecary! The scent throw is not as good, even with the larger melt pool . BTW, I do not sell my candles, they are just for me and my family. I definitely would never sell wax that I had scooped out and re-packaged! Thanks for your concern! I have been making candles since last August, and still haven't totally narrowed down containers, or wax, but the CD wicks I have recently been trying have given me the best results with 415 and 464. Better scent throw, and no smoking that I had with the HTP's. I thought that since I was spending so much money purchasing candles and tarts, that I would save a lot by learning to make my own. I think I had the same thought when I learned to crochet, and ...
  18. Hi all, seeking information from anyone who uses the Dollar Tree status jars. I had one fall about 4 inches onto my Pergo floor, and shatter yesterday. It was NOT burning, but I wondered if anyone using these has had a problem with them breaking during use. The glass seemed awfullly thin. It was the American made Status-type jar. I had been testing a CDN 18 with 464 wax, and was happy on the first burn with BB's Energy. Now I have to figure out how to get the wax out of the jagged glass without cutting myself! TIA!
  19. Hey Delphic, either one of those 2 companies would be some of the best to choose from. You will pay at least twice as much from Hobby Lobby, and the strength is about half of what you will find at either of the above companies. Amish Harvest, Lemon Pound Cake, and French Vanilla Amber are great throwers from Peak. Very Vanilla from CS is my favorite rich vanilla scent. Both companies' customer service is outstanding. Shipping is quick. Peaks may have a slight edge to my area in shipping costs. HTH.
  20. I like Sunrise Spice and Mellow Yellow. Great complex fragrance that throws well in GB 464. Does not necessarily remind me of autumn. Maybe Walk Around the Block, or Campfire in the Backyard??
  21. I vote BB Energy and Apricot Freesia, Peak's Lemon Pound Cake and Coconut Lime Verbena, and SC Sunkissed Sage!
  22. SC's Green Tea is the best of the few I've smelled, true & not floral. It is a good mixer.
  23. I have purchased several of Elements fragrance oils, and their CS has been top notch & shipping quick. Everyone that smells it, including me, loves Patchouli Honey. The Manuka Lavender Wrap is great, Lavendar & Honey together! Amber & Musk is another favorite, soft & sexy! So far, I have had trouble getting it to throw, but I think its just my inexperience, since I have purchased it made into tarts from 2 online vendors, and the scent carried well. Pomegranate Peach is nice OOB, not the sickening sweet candy scent usually offered as a Pom oil. You can smell the peach. I didn't think I liked Red Tea after I poured it, but it really grew on me, I can detect red tea and rose. The only scent I didn't care for is the beloved Olive Blossom, that smells like my hairspray! I know it is very popular with most people. I would recommend giving them a try!
  24. Back again with more reviews of Sweetcakes. I did also want to mention that I had great CS from them, they called me personally about an order change. Green Tea - very realistic scent, the nicest one I have smelled so far. However, I am not getting the throw I want from the few votives I've poured. I mixed this with their Osmanthus, per their recipe on the website. I used about 6% in Eco Soya PB, and tried a LX wick, I think I underwicked it. Hotel Costes - sandalwood, iris, sophisticated women's perfume scent. Have not poured yet. Like it OOB! Eucalyptus (The Thymes) - soapy clean to my nose, decent thrower in GB415. Unisex & fresh. Don't smell that much eucalyptus. Citron et Figue - Fresh lemon scent, poured at 8%, I don't smell the fig as much as I wanted. My daughter likes this one. Poured in GB 415 in the 14 oz. Libbey cube w/ 2 CD 6 wicks. Performing nicely on its second burn. Morning Marigold - Complex citrus w/ slight undertone of real French Marigold OOB. I want to pour this one soon. My favorite so far has been the Sapmoss, that smells exactly like Aveda's scent, so if you like Aveda's, you'll like this one! If you don't, well, you won't!
