  1. I've made a couple of these to test and finally got them wicked. Now, how did you package yours? I think I will shrink wrap mine and then use glittery tulle with a pretty silver bow. I used three scents that I already had in stock and renamed them:Strawberry Jam - Sweet on YouSugar Cookie - Sugar BabyCountry Berry Hotcakes - Berry in LoveWhat scents did you use?Tammy
  2. Sheryl,What do you do about the wet spots with J223? I LOVE this wax, but I am so tired of the wet spots. My jars will look good for a couple of weeks and out of nowhere...here they come. I pour at 150 into preheated jars and cool slowly in the oven after I turn the heat off. I am testing a new wax now but I hate to switch because J223 has an awesome appearance (other than those spots) and an excellent throw. I would appreciate any words of wisdom from anyone reading this post. Thanks,Tammy
  3. Are ya gonna let us in on your secret? Do you use soy?
  4. ....but that is only my experience. I'm sure other people use them with little problem. They are just not working out for me with J223 and I would rather switch jars than wax.Give them a try before you give up the idea completely.
  5. In my experience, the square jars are harder to wick than the rounds. As a matter of fact, I am so tired of dealing with hang up in the corners that beginning this year I will be switching to rounds. I am going to continue using square masons for my wickless line because they are adorable and I don't want to completely give them up.I use J223 and zincs. Good Luck!Tammy
  6. Thanks for the reply. I'm just wondering... What are the benefits in mixing these two? I've noticed that many people do. I poured another candle a few minutes ago that's a blend of 4786 and straight paraffin. I'll see what happens. I'm not noticing a wow smell yet.
  7. How much Crisco? I have some IGI 4786. Could I mix it with that? What percentage?
  8. I was wondering.... I have 20 lbs. of 130 mp straight paraffin that I bought from Candles and Supplies when I started out a few months ago and didn't know any better. The product description is as follows: Containers/Votives/Tarts "High quality straight paraffin so it is semi-translucent and mottles nicely without additives. Holds more fragrance than the 125mp. It blends nicely with most additives so that you can acheive different looks. Releases from containers so it's great for refills. You can also whip it to make a clumpy topping for the homebaked candle look." I emailed C&S and they said that it would work for jar candles with Vybar 260. I was wondering what you thought. Is the mp to high for jar candles? Would I be wasting my time pouring this wax into jelly jars? Thanks for any help you can give me. Tammy
  9. Thanks for the help! I am burning it 4 hours at a time. It's looks almost like vaseline on the side of the jar when it's burning. It's clear when the candle is burning, but when the candle cools it is wax. It's just little spots here and there that give the jar an unclean look. There is also a film left but from what I understand that is normal.
  10. I know someone else out there uses IGI 4786 too! How should the jar look after a good burn? Thanks for your help.
  11. Hi everyone! This is my first post on this board. Until now, I've been lurking from a distance. I am a beginner and I am starting with an 8 oz jelly jar. I have made several candles using the following recipe: 6.5 oz wax (IGI 4786) .4 oz scent - Strawberry Jam from BCN 44-32-18z Color block - red with a bit of black I heat the wax to 175 degrees, add dye and FO, mix well, and pour into a preheated jar. The candle looks really pretty and burns good. I am not noticing a "Wow" hot throw, and there is a tad of wax sticking to the jar. It's not really hangup - just blotches of wax that hasn't slid down the jar. This is 5th burn and it doesn't look like it's going to slide down. Do you have any idea why or what I need to do? I am thinking that a 51z will be to big as the candle burns further down. The 44z works good other than a bit of wax left on the jar. Can you help me? Thanks, Tammy
