  1. Thanks, I thought it would be easy to incorporate, but I will soak it.
  2. Thanks so much. I have mud, mud so I shouldn't have to soak it. I thought I'd just put it in the warmed oils to mix well first. Thanks, I'll let you know how they come out.
  3. Barb, Can I ask how much Dead Sea Mud and Charcoal you put in your recipe. My recipe is 1 lb of oils. I don't want to put too much, but don't want to not have enough either. Thanks Lisa
  4. You have to click on the product you like and in the product description they have the coupon code. I had trouble sunday night finding the same info, it wouldn't let me go to the product page at all. I ended up calling them and after that it worked for me. Let me know if it doesn't work. I just went to the site and it worked for me. Good luck.
  5. Hi all, I stumbled onto a good sale for the new Avery Merchandise and Branding labels/tags at Staples.com. It's buy one/get one free, so you have to buy 2 of the same labels or tags and added the coupon code in at check (it takes it off at checkout). Then you get a $5.00 rebate for each pack of label/tags you bought. I, also, got free shipping because I bought over $45.00. So I ended up paying $81.61 (15.00/pack and tax) for 10 packs of labels, then I'll get back $50.00 back with the rebate! So I got 10 packs of labels/tags for 31.61! Not bad at all! Here's the link to the Avery Merchandise and Branding Line http://www.staples.com/Avery-Printable-White-Tags-with-Strings-for-Inkjet-Printers-2-x-3/product_323806 Just in case anyone needs to stock up for Christmas products and such. Sale is through October 22!
  6. I make a Hunter's soap with a blend of Dirt f/o, grass stain f/o, sweetgrass f/o, patchouli e/o, fir needle and cedarwood e/o. This batch smells mostly of dirt, but that's what DH wanted. The batch I made last year smell equally of pine and dirt. I don't know about baking soda, but he should be able to use a bar of soap that had no fragrance added to it, if he doesn't want to use one with a cover scent.
  7. I just did four batches of salt bars, including this one. I rushed getting one out the mold, so they're a mess. One batch was soap on a stick and looks really rustic. So only 2 batches came out good, I haven't thought about the next batch. Maybe another batch of the Oatmeal, Milk & Honey ones once I get to test this batch out. I did look at the little brownie bite mold when I got the salt bar molds out, good idea for the face ones, I don't have dead sea mud, though. I do have charcoal, could I use just regular kaolin clay? I, also, have rose kaolin clay. I'll have to think it over, I know I like to use them on my face every now and then.
  8. No, I divide my liquid amount in half and do half Aloe juice to mix with lye. I then add the other half of liquid as the heavy cream at trace, along with the oatmeal and honey.
  9. Yep, my Oatmeal, Milk & Honey recipe (16 oz oils) ground oatmeal, heavy cream and honey then I just threw in 12 oz of sea salt and poured into mold. I put them in a 170 degree oven for about 30 minutes, turned off the oven when I saw them start to gel and left them in the oven for about an hour. They just popped right out of the molds after they were cooled. so far, so good.
  10. Okay guys, Here's some photos of my little experiment with combining Oatmeal, Milk & Honey recipe and adding sea salt. Just poured, the honey turned it golden Just after turning them out of the mold Just have to wait until cured to try them out. Hopefully, it will have the best of both soaps in one. Thanks for looking.
  11. Well, I made my Oatmeal, Milk & honey recipe and added 12 oz of sea salt. I was a little leary of putting them in the oven (at 170 degrees) to force gel, like I usually do with salt bars. But it came out fine, I just turned them out of the mold and they look fine, just have to wait 6 weeks to test them out in the bath. thanks for all the advice. I'll add some photos into the gallery section tonight.
  12. I thought I'd try a test batch tomorrow sometime, but would have to wait until cure to try it out. Gosh, I wish I had some patience! 6 weeks.
  13. I was thinking about it this evening. Would it even be possible? I want something that might be a little milder on the skin but still have the salt in it, too.
  14. Right now, I don't have a microwave in the soap house, so I'm using my presto pot to melt my hard oils. I pour them into my bucket I use for mixing than add my liquid oils.
  15. Love the colors, bet it smells great, too. Nice job.
  16. I've got a pretty good collection of Sandalwood and Sandalwood Vanilla's right now, from a bunch of different suppliers. I just got a Sandalwood F/O from EOU yesterday, really nice. I ordered it thursday night and it shipped out friday a.m. I got it yesterday afternoon! Great service, to boot. I have a couple of different Coconut Lime Verbena, and really, I like the original one from WSP best. I'd like to find a good Patchouli f/o, so I wouldn't have to hock the house to buy the e/o version. I've heard Moonworks have a great one, but it's been sold out since around January (I heard that her supplier lost the recipe?). I'll keep looking!
  17. I worked on the lawn tonight, but still need to finish up tomorrow night. I might try to sneak in 2 batches tomorrow. I got Lebermuth f/o's from a coop on the dish and haven't tried any of them and, also, mixed up sweet orange and patchouli and want to try it in CP. I can't make too much, I'm out of room and the soap house is on hold (dh is sick of working on it right now). You guys have a good soaping weekend and show us some photos of your soap. Happy Easter.
  18. I just ordered some of the new neon colors from Bramble berry today. We'll see how they do once they get here. I still have my original pack of POP colors and still have a pretty good amount left, so I can see how they do side by side.
  19. I usually do half water to mix lye with and then add the other half as heavy cream/whipping cream at trace. It really does make a great bar of soap.
  20. I mixed some f/o and e/o's for DH's hunter's soap. I also made some body sprays that we ran low on. I might do some lady's shaving soap tomorrow (I already did some Wasabi and the other half of that batch was Amber and Patchouli a couple of weeks ago). And I have a couple of blends that I put together last week, Dude, Rapture, Renaissance and Italian Gold. I might soap one of those. We were supposed to work on the soap house, but DH finally admitted defeat with the sheetrock mudding (2 sprained fingers and wrist problems) he's supposed to try and get someone who knows what they are doing in, thank God! Next up floors and cabinets! Although, I might have to paint after the texture is finally on the walls and dried. The next 2 weekends after that, DH is out of town, so we can't work on the house anyway. Soap weekends are back! Yeah.
  21. Don't feel bad about hoarding, I have a collection of Sandalwood Vanilla from just about every supplier going (can you tell I like it?). Those soaps look specatular! Great job.
  22. My DH got Lifelock after fraud on a credit card he had for a really long time. We cancelled the credit card and he joined Lifelock afterwards. We didn't hear anything from Lifelock or the old credit card company and one day got a call from a collection agency. We ended up calling the old credit card company, it turned out someone called and REOPENED out account that we closed because of fraud. The credit card company didn't try to call us or anything to verify anything. This card was reopened and they changed the address so the bills and new cards would not come to our house. It was an fake address in a New Orleans neighborhood abandoned after Katrina! We called Lifelock, they told us they couldn't help us because it wasn't new fraud! It was an old (existing) account that was reopened. My DH closed the Lifelock account and told them they were falsely advertising their services. We got some of our yearly payment back and called it quits. What use is it to have a service like this when they don't help you like they advertise? what a bunch of smucks. Don't waste your money.
  23. Hi all, Here are the 2 soaps I did today. Both are E/O-F/O Blends. First batch was Amber F/O, Patchouli E/O and a smidge of Wasabi F/O Cut Bars Second Batch today was Sensual Soul (Rainbow Meadows blend) Patchouli, Neroli and Bergamot. Cut Bars Thanks for looking.
  24. Gosh, that's beautiful, bet it smells good, too!
  25. Here's the second soap from the vertical mold. Lemon Verbena Mint, I tried and ITP swirl for each side (hah! and the god's laughed) with lemon and apple green pop colors. I used a different recipe and it wasn't quite ready to come out of the mold, so I helped it a little (fillet knife). In the mold Cut bars Smells good and it came out alright, but could have been better.
