  1. I was hoping to soap a couple of batches today, but had backed up pipes and had to call in the Rooter guy, had already had the sewer treatment tank guy here yesterday,l thinking it was that. Expensive weekend for plumping, but the good news, no soap or grease in pipes cotton and tape? or wet wipes, who knows, I don't have little kids, so no wet wipes here. Maybe a couple of batches tomorrow, I get a root canal on monday a.m. so I'm not going to be good for anything after that. You guys cook up some good soap porn, so I can at least look at what you guys have made this weekend.
  2. I have BB's Coconut Lemongrass FO, I actually add a little more Lemongrass EO in there. Great scent.
  3. Here are the cut photos for Cherry Blossom and Mayan Gold Cherry Blossom, I was hoping the natural color would be more beige, but next time I'll add white to it. Mayan Gold, I thought the base color would be more whitish, but it was yellow, I did a swirl with gold mica, but it doesn't show up.
  4. Hi all, I made two batches of Darwin's Basic Recipe yesterday, one with Bonsai and one with no color or fragrance. Here they are in the loaf and cut. Today I made a batch of Sheep's Milk (I use Heavy Cream-recipe from MMS Blog) with Cherry Blossom and another of Shortening and Shea with Mayan Gold. I haven't cut these, will probably wait until later tonight or tomorrow a.m. Bonsai Cut Darwin's with no color or fragrance Cut Cherry Blossom And, lastly, Mayan Gold Thanks for looking, I'll add cut photos tomorrow.
  5. I saw a little bump of a couple of dollars in the Coconut 76 at Soaper's choice. I figured I'd buy if it looked like it was really going to jump, but so far, it's been the same price for a couple of weeks. I heard they had weather problems where most of the coconut oil was produced and have shipped the same amount of oils they did ifor the whole of '09 in the first 7 months of this year, so demand is up also.
  6. Love the colors and the swirl, beautiful, as usual.
  7. Hi all, Here I am, again, with almost getting it, but not quite. I can't use this recipe, it just moves too fast, so I guess next time, I'll try a different one. This is for the Brambleberry F/O Swap. It's Sandalwood Vanilla. Very messy top But the inside really wasn't that bad, considering how thick it all was. Another My kitchen table was a complete mess after this one, the divider board dripped soap all over, then the hanger. It took awhile to clean up from this one. But I'm getting a little better each time and this is my favorite scent, so it wouldn't go to waste anyway. Thanks for looking! Have a great rest of the weekend.
  8. This is the soap I'm giving the little kids in the family for Christmas gifts.
  9. CP, made the gumballs the day before and made the main batch (white) yesterday. Poured some, added gumballs. I have to say, as much as I try not to achieve thick trace and always do, I didn't get it the two batches I did yesterday, don't know if it was the fragrance oil or just my rotten luck. Thicker trace would have held the gumballs where I wanted them better. The second batch I didn't use as many and they floated to the top of the soap.
  10. I actually bought one for this project and ended up rolling them anyway, easier. Photos are in the gallery.
  11. Here's the gumball soap I made yesterday. I hand rolled the gumballs, no mold. I was going to make the main batch light pink, but went with white instead. Here's the cut bars Thanks for looking
  12. Hi all, I'm going to make a soap sometime today, Bazooka Bubblegum scent (for the kids at Christmas). I handrolled some colored soaps into balls (if you can call them that) and am planning to put them in a pink soap batch. The question, how do you make them look more uniform? Do you wet them after getting them in the shape you need to make them smoother for the top of the soap? Do I need to do anything special to them when adding them to the pink soap base? Thanks a bunch.
  13. The soaps with milk (any kind coconut, heavy cream or goat's milk) have a great lather. I find them much more moisturizing. The soaps get harder quicker. I usually divide my liquids, add my lye to half the amount in water and then add my milk half at trace. It, usually, goes really quickly from adding the milk. I throw them in the fridge so they won't overheat (Louisiana temps can get really hot!), even in the winter, just to make sure. They do gel, but I'm not really trying to avoid it. Enjoy, they really are a treat to use.
  14. Thanks, I was keeping an eye on the dimensions, since my bars are nice size. I'm definately going to keep that page marked. It would make nice small gifts, like teachers and stuff. Thanks for the quick answer.
  15. kestagano04, Did you get your soap dishes from soapania.com yet? I was looking at getting about 48 for Christmas gifts (soap dish with soaps). I was wondering if they are as nice as they look on line? Thanks
  16. Hi all, I was going to try for the mantra swirl, but the soap batch had other plans. It thickened really fast and I had trouble getting the dividing board out of the mold (soapy gloves!). I ended up glopping the black on top and didn't like how it looked, gave up and put it to rest. BTW, It's BB's Sandalwood Vanilla- my personal favorite (so keeping it for myself wouldn't be so bad). Here's what it looked like. But imagine my surprise when I cut it and it wasn't so bad (drat!) I expect the left side (natural with a little white) to turn darker from the Vanilla, but the right side was lemon yellow and some white. So we'll see what other surprises are in store. Lastly, cleaned up with stamp on it Thanks for looking.
  17. Gosh girl, you have that swirl down pat! I love it, especially with the fragrance choice.
  18. I mainly use BB or WSP for e/o and f/o's. I just got some that I ordered from Sweet cakes, great, but expensive. I've tried NG and didn't like them at all, and SGS, they were okay, but didn't blow my skirt up. I really love BB, but hate the shipping and waiting for them, so WSP makes up the rest of my oils. I've had some that faded, but not many and most of them were just fine. I like the "free shipping" too, not that that saves me much money, I just buy more!
  19. You can try Darwin's basic recipe in the recipe section, also. It has shea butter and is very moisturizing. I love this soap.
  20. They're all so pretty, love the colors and the swirls. Too bad I can't smell them! Sandalwood Vanilla is my personal favorite fragrance oil right now, soap, perfume, body spray and body frosting. Yum
  21. Sam's has a 1.5 liter bottle for 5 something. Not to bad, mine just got it about a month and a half ago.
  22. I did Cranberry Realistic, have 2 batches of Frankincense & Myrrh (love that) and Vanilla Forest, but not too many others. I did about 3 fall scents, Autumn Wreath, Witching Hour and Arabian Spices (smells like pumpkin spices). I don't sell, so they are pretty much sitting on a shelf, ready right now. Christmas gifts. Any suggestions on christmas scents that are not the typical pine scent?
  23. I'm not quite sure exactly what I will soap, but I want to do a couple of batches. It helps me relax and all week long I do for everyone else, so the weekend I like to do for me! I just have to find time between getting new tires on jeep, cutting grass and washing 2 big labrador retrievers (that don't like baths). Should be a breeze! Everyone have a safe and relaxed labor day weekend. Happy soaping.
  24. The Frankincense and Myrrh E/O soap was made with goat's milk, it really made the lather nice and rich. I, actually, made a second batch the exact same way. I really love this recipe.
