  1. So, how quickly did the oils get there? It usually takes around 3 days for them to get to me, really quick, considering. They really do have the best prices and really fast shipping.
  2. Or two different ITP swirls swirled together? Don't know if I'd have enough time to pull that off! Just a thought.
  3. Hi all, I treated myself to a new mold for my birthday and it came yesterday. I made a milk soap recipe and used Blue Sugar from The Scent Works. Here are some shots of the mold and the resulting soap New Vertical mold. Soap in it Now the bars I used a 3 ft long ruler to swirl (2 circles). I'll be buying a long dowel really soon. They actually turned out alot better than I thought they would. I made the soap around 10:00 a.m. and unmolded around 7:30 p.m. Thanks for looking
  4. They're in Des Plaines, IL. (just north of O'hare airport in Chicago!) Sometimes when DH is up in St Louis for business (then he goes further north up the Mississippi) he can swing right past there, but not when I need oils, go figure. The shipping equals out to around .03/oz, which is not really that bad. Last time I bought I had 74 lbs and it cost 37.38. I've had worse shipping bills and that was for all fragrance oils (yes, they were wrapped really well) but 13.00 for 10 bottles of f/o's. And it took 3 weeks to get them with order back ups and shipping across the country. I'm in Louisiana and I haven't found anything cheaper that Soaper's Choice and they ship really quickly, I usually have my order within 4 days of ordering.
  5. I'm pretty stocked up (just got castor and another 50 lb cube of palm), but am hesitant to soap just for the heck of it. I guess with the prices up, I'll have to plan all my batches to try and keep prices down. But when I have to reorder and the prices are still high, prices will have to go up. What a drag! Does everything have to go up at the same time!
  6. I went to the post office after Christmas to mail a package and asked the guy working behind the counter about the new regional boxes. He didn't even know what I was talking about, lovely, just what we need, informed employees! I order some of the boxes from the USPS site and should have them soon. I did a click and print today and a 2.4 lb package (in a priority mail box-9.6 x 6.6 x 2.25) cost 9.68 to mail! If I had the regional box it would have only been 7.68, even though the box is bigger than the one I'm using. It really doesn't make much sense!
  7. I'm still waiting for my package from BrambleBerry (it, hopefully, might be here on friday) so I can get some Valentine's soaps made. I did make a half of a batch of Whipped Body Frosting, I got 7 jars out of it. My Sister drives me nuts for the stuff. So maybe next weekend I'll get my valentine's stuff done.
  8. Those look great. My first salt bars looked pretty pathetic, but were usable!
  9. The balls fused with the white soap once it gelled. I can't say for the kids using it, they all just got it for Christmas and I haven't heard anything back. All the girls loved it and walked around sniffing the bar all day. I did a take out gift box with bath fizzes, soap and bubblebath with a puff on top. They loved it.
  10. DH picked it up in a Feed Store in Rural Kentucky while deer hunting up there. I look a couple of place here, but no luck.
  11. I did the same as Kitn, I warmed it with my oils and added my lye/water to it, oils were 109 degrees and lye/water was 88 degrees. It didn't take long for it to trace, but I didn't have any trouble with it. It turned out really well, I added Rainforest E/O blend from WSP to it and it smells nice. I did figure my pine tar into my oil %. I only did 11% Pine tar, with OO, PO, PKO Flakes and Cocoa Butter. Good luck.
  12. Bump Can you make this with SLS instead of SLSA? I want to make a bubble bath for little girls (neices) to get as part of their christmas present. I have SLS and hate make an order just for one ingredient. Thanks
  13. I put some of Sweetcakes Sandalwood Vanilla in lotion bars (just try outs for me!). Like the scent, subtle. I haven't tried it in CP, it runs about 4.80/oz. I've bought Sandalwood f/o from WSP, BB, SS, SC and CG, I like them all, but haven't tried them all in CP, I already made 2 batches of BB's Sandalwood Vanilla and just sent one batch in for their Swap. I've used it in Whipped Body Frosting, lotion and made perfume with it. I also did a batch of CP in their Indian Sandalwood, really nice.
  14. WSP has Cherry Blossom, from what I understand, it's like the original one. I also have the Japanese Cherry Blossom from New Directions Aromatics. I don't especially like either, way to sweet, floral for me.
  15. Actually, BB discontinued it a while back, and is supposed to reformulate it. They brought it back one more time, or so they told me. I got the last 2.4 oz the last time and then they brought more in, I ordered 4 more oz.
  16. Most "legimate" suppliers have to pay a $22.50 (I think) hazmat fee for shipping anything over 8 lbs of lye. I get mine from Essential Depot off of ebay, he doesn't pay this and I usually order 32 lbs at a time. That is in addition to the normal shipping fee, so it does add up. I don't know how some people get around charging it, but they do. Have fun with your new shipment of lye.
  17. Never mind, I found the answer in another thread on another board. Thanks anyway.
  18. Hi all, I'm getting ready to do a batch of pine tar soap. I have a recipe I like and have read that you can just add the pine tar to any basic recipe. Soapcalc says it has no FA value, so it shouldn't make a difference to the lye/water calculations. So, should I do my calculation for a 50 oz (oils) batch and just add 20% pine tar to it and use my regular mold (I usually do 60 oz of oils)? Or should I calculate it into Soapcalc as a 60 oz batch with the pine tar included? Does that make sense? Thanks so much.
  19. For Rain scents, I use blues, greens and whites mostly. It depends on the scent. I don't have any cotton or linen scents, mainly rain and or clean scents. Bamboo, a nice clean, green scent- I used light green.

  21. This is a good recipe to use a slab mold and practice swirls and stuff. I've used it a bunch of times and even did it in a loaf mold a time or two. Nice bar of soap!
  22. Here are the photos of the last two batches from yesterday Lavender E/O Blend Another And Sleep Time (which, thank goodness, this morning smells less like Desitin!) thanks for looking.
  23. Hi all, I finally got to make some soap, after 2 weeks of plumbing problems and hives driving me crazy. Here's the batches so far, Sheep's Milk Soap (I use heavy cream), no color or scent added Cut photos Black Amber Musk cut Today's, so no cut photos yet, I'll try to add them later Lavender E/O Blend (WSP) And, finally, Sleep Time E/O Blend (WSP)-smells like Desitin (diaper rash ointment) to me Thanks for looking, hope to see some soap photos from you guys.
  24. Someone hijacked my hotmail account this august, I've only had it for about 20 years. Not fun trying to get back and figure out what else they did. So it's not only businesses, it's just about anything, wished they'd go find honest work and leave people alone. Good luck.
  25. I just made two batches of this last weekend, one with Bonsai f/o again and one with no fragrance or color (for people who are too sensitive for that stuff). The one with no fragrance or color came out white. Here's some photos of them. I love this recipe.
