  1. I would try my grater with my cusinart. I like the idea of scoopable melts!
  2. HI! I also have kids and do soaping. I make sure it is up high and locked up. I use my liquor cabinet for these. As long as you are responsible with it you should be fine. I treat it like any chemical in the house. I don't want them touching bleach or cleaners either.
  3. I don't know if I could inject a stuffed bear. LOL
  4. Thanks Alwayswondering! These were a great reference. I am just starting to make tarts and found this helpful. I've only done one batch but I would have to say that I wouldn't do it with out a candy thermometer and a scale. I am not good at judging what is a good temp or propert measurement of oils,FO or wax. Using these things are habit that I have from soaping. Most of the items you can get really cheap at Walmart also.
  5. Also I did 2 ounces for 1 lb of wax. I figured that was a good starting point, but then I did some checking and it may be high. The informatino on KY wax that I am using states 10% max. That would be 1.6 ounces. So I am going to back off to that in the future. The flash point stuff has me scared.
  6. thanks! I took some to my parents house yesterday and tested some. They smelled really really good. I am going to try some more scents tonight.
  7. I had to share that I poured my first clam shell tonight. I am playing with some Ky Para-Soy Tart/Votive Blend purchased off of here. I have been doing soaps for some time now and thought this would be fun and ya know I haven't spent enough on soaping supplies . When my BF/Fiance saw me melting wax he just shook his head and wandered away. :rolleyes2 Right now they are just going to be Christmas presents. They are white and I did peppermint for Christmas. Only did 1 lb and have like 12 more pounds to play with. :rolleyes2
  8. look nice... what is in the bags on the wall?
  9. For good prices on bulk stuff I use www.columbusfoods.com for all my stuff Woops didn't see the link to the soaperschoice above. That is the same supplier.

    Big Oops

short bursts... it will heat up fast and you will burn off your FO.
  11. Hi! Has anyone tried the Nature's Garden or even found them? I check today but couldn't see them on the site yet.
  12. I was able to find Shea, coconut and other oils at health food stores and places like that when I only needed a little bit to experiment with at first. Those totally work. Once you have a recipe and a process it is good to stick to the same product and supplier so you producing consistant product. I do this with my CP soap but I also pour 100 ounces at a time per fragrance. Not sure what supplier you are looking at so it is hard to comment on their product. I've only gotten from a few places on line but others have gone through a lot of suppliers.

I've always been able to to just remelt the M/P soap. It is going to harden up on you while you pour and you will have to heat it up again as you go. It will stick to the side etc. i also haven't covered it while cooling... but I am not an expert.
  14. Hi... so you make candle arrangements? Do you make the candles also? They are cute. The only thing that would worry me is the first one I saw looks like it was set up on Styria foam. Wouldn’t that be really flammable? PS I am NOT a candle maker... I am a soap chick.
  15. Hi... yup too late. I think the bars of soap were a hit. The shower was last weekend.
  16. Hi.. I never replied to this.. Sorry about that. I have various soaps ready. I have to cut them down tonight and get them ready. My normal bars are 4 or 5 ounces but I can't be handing out that much. I am going to split them in 3... I think. I said I would provide 100 samples. I have wax bags that I could put them in and then fold over and seal with my sticker label. I really don't want to wrap 100 bars tongiht. Does that sound ok?
  17. Hi.. very nice. Is this melt and pour or CP?
