  1. thank you everyone! I use the Cold Process method.
  2. I wanted to share some pics of soaps I have been happily experimenting with.....hope you all like. I have a website for anyone interested in purchasing any of my soaps. www.michelessoapcafe.com
  3. I decided to try using Goats milk in my Oatmeal Milk & Honey soap. I was really happy at the outcome. I had very good luck with using the goats milk at the nearly frozen state. After doing a lot of investigating that was the best way to keep the milk from being scorched. So I not only used the nearly frozen milk, but I kept it in an ice bath and gradually added the lye to keep the temp constantly under 90 degrees. It took about 10 mins to get the lye fully incorporated. Patience makes perfect. Now I have to wait for the soap to cure before seeing how it feels on my skin. Will post again with the results.
  4. I just made my first batch of Pine Tar Soap. I have family members that have severe cases of Psoriasis and I am hoping this soap will help. I was a little nervous about using Pine Tar, just being unfamiliar with it. But to my surprise it was very easy to use. I did a lot of researching and found that you need to use at least 20% but not more than 25% Pine tar or it wont benefit the soap. I stuck with 20%. I have to say that it does trace quickly. I had both the oils and the lye at 60 degrees. Once they are mixed together I used a whisk and it traced in a matter of 2 mins tops. Looked like brownie mix. It set up very quickly in the mold too. I am now waiting for it to be cool and then I will unmold and cut as recommended. So at this time I can not comment on whether it was helpful, but I will post again once I have my testers use and report back. *Crossing fingers
  5. I recently made a batch of soap using both Turmeric (beige) and Cayenne Pepper (dark brown). It has a faint smell, but I used no FO as I wanted to see what the spices did on their own. I am trying them out to see if they help with psoriasis. I used the Cayenne as the swirling part. It came out very nice. But I would definitely like to use a FO next time.
