  1. I was reading also and it looks like you can try it for free. The trial is the full version just allows you a limited amount of entries. I am in the process of installing it now then gonna give it a try. From all the different ones I have found this one looks the best and is the most expensive. But hey if it works well this will be awesome.
  2. I ran across this thread but it is under soapmaking and I want the candlemakers opinion. I want to know if this program would work just as good for candlemaking other than the use of the recipe calculator. http://www.candletech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=28070 Other questions would be if anyone has converted it to candlemaking what did they have to change and was it accurate. Also if it didn't do the job is there one out there for a candlemaker. TIA
  3. I was looking into this for candles as I can't find anything for specifically candles. It sounds great but will it work as good for candles? Also are those still the only providers of the program? TIA
  4. Anything coconut or anything with a noticeable coconut is my worst. I don't know what it is about coconut but even baking with it makes me gag. I also have an issue with anything floral but thats cause of my asthma. I just sneeze my but off till I am done and get them packaged.
  5. Cute burner hope it works well with tarts, it looks almost identical to my Aunt's burner for tarts and she loves it. As for the oil mixture when I started out I was told to use a 2-1 DPG to FO ratio. I have always done it that way with happy results and no smoking with most my oils. The ones that have smoked are the ones usually with Vanilla in them or the thicker oils and I just don't offer them as refreshers. HTH
  6. I made one scented WinterSnow and it was a very light blue. It is now a brownish color, it almost looks dirty. I was told 2 different things when I was inquiring, the first was that the wet crystals soak up oder and that is causing the discoloration. The second was that because I don't add alcohol of some sort for preservation that they were going bad. I have been way too busy to test either theory but it might give you something to go on. HTH
  7. I am another one that puts it directly into the presto pot and I second the always use a thermometer. I then use a measuring cup to pour it into my pour pot on my scale and mix in my color and FO in the pour pot. I have been thinking about getting a presto pot with with the spout but have heard mixed opinions on them.
  8. I am another that uses the impulse sealer.....I don't know what kind mine is but where my heat is set when I seal mine it basically cuts and starts the new bag. I was originally cutting squares and folding them to the bottom with a tiny piece of tape but didn't like the finished look. HTH
  9. The insert disk that comes with the jars when you buy them.....the canning one.....is the one I use. It works just great and I find they seal just a little better than the plastic discs. HTH
  10. Sounds like a huge helper. I really hope someone knows the site your talking about or one like it.
  11. I also put "Handmade" on mine. I find a lot of the shows in my area are made up of resellers.
  12. Mine is www.scentedlites.ca it is just starting up so is very basic right now. I am SB friendly just have to put the info in the comment box.
  13. I just keep it on the lowest setting and it is fine. DH while moving things around has bumped it and I didn't notice then YES it smokes. But he does the same thing to my presto pot, he just has to learn to not touch my stuff even if it is in the way.
  14. I found the lighter method to be time consuming and a PITA. I went to a thrift store and found myself and old electric griddle. Now I can do up a batch of votives and quickly seal the wick in, works great even for large orders. HTH
  15. I make all my orders with them via e-mail (if using paypal) or directly from their site (using my CC) and I have never had any problems. My orders always come quickly. The only time I find a delay with them is if you try to get them late afternoon Friday or on the weekends, but they are usually caught up by Tuesday morning. The one problem I ever had was when one of my items was OOS and she had forgot to let me know. HTH
  16. To my understanding you can not use candle dye as it is oil based. Smelly Jelly's are a water based item and the B&B color is also. I haven't tried but I think I saw somewhere that if you use candle dye it just sits in gobs. I could be wrong but that is just what I remember reading.
  17. A small hint....and most of the companies I order from in the US do this also.....in description just put "candle supplies", even if it is only oils. Also I was told at my post office to always ship oils parcel post never airmail, I am not sure if it is called the same thing in the US. HTH
  18. I agree with you both and would love a solution to this problem also if anyone out there has one. I am usually OK if I do 1lb batches or smaller but when doing a bunch of one scent then it is a pain.
  19. I use a pry bar and a hammer. Works great, gets out all anger:yay: and gets you fairly uniform pieces so they all fit in my presto.
  20. This is an awesome idea! I can't take a good picture to save my life. If I could find an affordable photographer I would get them to do my photo's in a heartbeat.
  21. Specifically right now all I want is a box for my 3" ball pillars. This will make it a million times better for all my labels. In the long run I may box all my pillars but I am just not sure yet. Thank-you all!
  22. Thank-you, a couple of those I had not found and were very helpful. I appreciate the help I will see what I can do with the ones found.
  23. OK I have searched my fingers off! I had a link for a template site I had gotten off of this site about a year ago. The link I have is not working and I am wondering if anyone out there knows of somewhere you can download different types of templates? TIA
  24. I use the Geographics brand and I have no problems printing on both sides with my ink jet. You can get them from Wal-mart or Staples that I know of.
  25. I want to get a little more specific with my pillar wicks. Right now I only make them for myself and family, locally I can only pick-up square braid in various sizes. I was looking into ordering some different wicks from Peaks with my next order. I just really don't know where to start testing.(HTP, LX etc.) If you all could please give me an idea of where to start. I have molds for 3" balls, 3 wicks, 2" wide round pillars in different heights and 3" wide pillars in different heights/shapes. I hope this is enough info so that you can all give me a starting point. Also which is better pre-tabbed or not? TIA
