  1. Thanks all for your replies! Judy, USMC, My plan was to start on FL (I am from PR) and drive trough all the east coast stopping at each location from south to north. But that is still just a plan...hopefully by July or September we'll be able to do it. A lot of people make candles here in PR I mean a LOT! But we want to see and try to make some good business relations with suppliers I know that could be done trough the internet as we already deal with a lot of the before mentions but we want to experience candle making first hand from other supplier and vendor trough classes and seminars and all the good stuff you could think off. It might seem like a long trip but I used to be a long haul trucker in the good U.S. of A! So I am actually looking forward to the road trip to remember the good old times on the road. Again thanks all for the sugestions!! Keep'em coming! Dan
  2. Hello everyone! I would like to know where can I go on the east coast to experience different kinds of candles. I would like to visit manufactures of different products related to candle making and candle making places and stores. The main intention of the trip would be to try and create some business relations with different people and to have a small trip to experience different things candle related. Oh and I am mainly interested in anywhere I can find any variety of candle molds! I would appreciate suggestions greatly!! Dan
  3. Yesterday I made a few candles(the bright colored ones) and used a pillar blend wax from candlewic. It was pretty good and gave very good results IMO. Now I'm looking all over the forum for a recipe that someone sugested some time ago and I believe that it was recomended from one of the owners of candlewic. It was I believe a blend of wax, luster crystals, stearic and I'm not sure if there was also vybar in it. Please if you remember the thread or know what I'm talking about let me know I want to fine tune that to the wax I have available. Yeah I know silly me should had written it down while I saw it!!! here they are Dan
  4. lovemylabs, I don't know if you started testing already but I do use LX wicks with the 4045H. I have had good results. Dan
  5. lovemylabs, I use 4045H for my mottled candles and it works great. CW is located in PA so yeah they're close to the east coast. Dan
  6. IS North Valley Candle Molds still operating? I have written them like a million times requesting their price list and haven't gotten back any answer. Also tried to get a quote on some molds from them awhile and no answer... anybody?? Dan
  7. Robert, Welcome to the board I am also a guy. I agree on everything that has been posted already. No craft store stuff and Peak has great quality stuff...you will notice a difference on the fragrance quality immediately compared to the solid blocks. The options in candle making are almost unlimited you'll see that pretty fast. Dan
  8. Actually I have seen another called Kamasutra...but thats pretty much it..just called. I belive it's from french color and fragrance..haven't even bothered buying it it does not smell anything like the one we used to use (at least I suppose that the ones I tried before came from NG at least some of the descriptions fit perfectly) Dan
  9. EccoLights, Thank you for your reply! That's what I like to hear!! Dan
  10. Ok nevermind about finding them....how good is natures garden FO wise?
  11. I am looking for Lick me all over and Kamasutra fragrances. These two have very fruity tones in them and actually smell very similar. I did google them and found that Natures Garden has the LMAO. Not sure about NG. I have never ordered from them. Kamasutra I am not sure where to get yet. I'd apreciate any help guys!! Also if you have used them what has been your experience with them cold and hot throw wise. Dan
  12. Tonyjazz, love the candle looks great! You could try pvc pipes with couplers you can get very good results with them as molds. I've made a few big candles all you need to do is make a lid that fits inside the coupler and push the pipe inside make a hole for your wick on the top/lid and thats it! No need for glue or anything. I like that I can open it to clean it inside if needed. Dan
  13. WOW That sounds so familiar. Unfortunately most people are so ignorant about how marketing draws them into buying things thata manufactured. I for one can say that the best things I have ever had I have made myself or made or made by anyother crafts person. America is actually very much in need of makers. Dan
  14. I don't mean to hijack the thread. But can anyone tell me whats so much better about any of these candles other than the packaging? I mean i think candledelirium is based in hollywood Californi and cam rob blind any celebreties they want but really can anyone explain to me the expense of these candles! Dan
  15. Well that's good to know. I customer service deserves points and if their pigment is good we could have a winner here as for FO sources. I did talk to a gentleman the and I actually asked about the claim of 1% and he did state that what they were selling was probably as concentrate as it could be. I hope I'm impressed when I use the fragrance I ordered. Dan
  16. The website states that they are a manufacturer. I talked to somebody there today and also will be ordering to check how good the really are. Will report as soon as I get my stuff. Dan
  17. Wow. These guys recommend 1% FO and claim that a 32 oz bottle of their scent will scent 380 pounds of wax. Anybody tried them?? I am sure interested if they're as concentrate as they claim. Dan
  18. Hmmm she might be selling that scentsy thing probably. If not she should Learn how to complain properly.
  19. This is happening everywhere in someway or another. Here where I live there's a huge amount of people making candles. God knows what goes on when they make candles. There is no testing at all they use the local FO which colored water almost. The problem is this is promoting very unsafe candle making. I mean this people slap on whatever wick the store is selling which almost everytime is 3 diferent rols and thats it! From the myriad of diferent ones or just preasembled ones. What pisses me off is that I test I do not use cheap FO and still people are always more impressed with some silly s*** that was put together with their eyes closed. Anyway let me shut up cause I feel my chest tightning already. Dan
  20. Guys i need a good MP mold supplier with descent prices. I am giving a small shop on the basics of MP and i need a variety of molds. Sugestions? Dan
  21. Hello everyone! I would like to know if a candle leveler is worth the money. I have seen candles from some people with perfect flat bottoms and I love how they look. I can only assume they used a leveler. Any sugestions. Dan
  22. Wow! My kind of topic. Although I haven't worked with any typenof machining I read about 3d printers all the time in Make magazine. I also would like to make my molds I have some crazy ideas for candles that would probably be more sculptural than anything I gues. More like what you mention. I have also thought about printing the wax itself in 3d. Only problem for me is that I would have to get All the stuff to make molds metals, soldering equipment, cutting and all the other stuff that goes with handling sheet metal. And this is just for basic molds.
  23. Wow! I love them!! I've tried painting a bit but this is the stuff I like...IMO they're awsome
  24. Guys, thanks for your replies! I have been to the candle science site and the don't have what Im looking for. My customer specificaly asked for some sizes. On the moon seamless aluminum mold it mighted been poly carbonate. This was a 10 pound moon though and i haven't seen many big polyc molds out there. So im not sure. Dan
