  1. Hi, I think they all look great, I did notice longer wicks and off center in the last pic, but that can be fixed! I think they look very contemporary, not country, not sure which look you were going for... but they look GREAT regardless! Cant wait to see more of your work also!
  2. Looks like a dream come true! Much luck to you !
  3. you may want to try adding coconut oil too. I noticed a big difference when I started using it. I use it in almost all of my oils, except for my super strong ones. There are various threads about how much to use, I just had to play w/' it and figure out what was enough, and what was too much for various batch sizes.
  4. Well, I wanted to update this, my computer has been down, was beginning to have internet withdrawls, lol. So, anyway, I ended up going to Candlemakers store and buying 5 cases of 444 and 20 cases of jars/lids. So, we will see how long that lasts. The drive wasnt too bad. I think after I do it a few more times, it wont be too bad. I get really anxious about being on highways. So, just wanted to post a follow up to this. Thanks for everyones help and suggestions.
  5. I am going to call them for sure, Just to see what the cost is in comparison if nothing else! Thanks again!
  6. Islandgirl, I tried to get on that site and did notice it was down, or atleast noticed something wasnt working right, LOL . I am def going to look into that, thank you for the heads up! At this pt, I am going to go to candlemaker store in ohio, its a an hr drive one way, BUT if i buy enough at one time, then its worth it and saves me $177 on the entire cost, I am figuring what I pay for jars/lids and wax. Shipping is what gets us!! There for a minute I thought I may have to quit making candles!! I just do it for a hobby, dont really mind not making $$$, but I sure as heck dont want it to COST me to make em! Thank you to everyone for all the TIPS! Love this site! and everyone that makes it what it is!
  7. I was getting it from Boleks crafts in ohio. I was shocked at the price increase. I realize it is a fluctuating market, but thats a BIG jump!
  8. Candlemakers is a little farther than I would like to drive, but i may have to do that, and just buy enough to make the trip worth it! Thanks for the feedback!
  9. Well, I called today to order more soy wax and the cost went from $45 per case to $75 per case!!! That isnt including what it costs to ship on top of that! I am sooooooo aggravated! I already changed my wax once to accomodate product cost/ shipping cost and now I have to do it AGAIN! So, does anyone in ohio know of a supplier w/ soy wax that is comparable to gw 444??? I did alot of research when I had to switch the last time, so I am going to to back to my notes and see what I had down, but if prices have changed that much, I am pretty much back to point A at this time! Ok, well I am done complaining now! I just wondered if soy wax increased in price across the board for all suppliers????
  10. Hi! I dont mind sharing at all! Let me start by saying I do this as a hobby and to keep myself and family and friends stocked w/ great smelling candles. However, I do buy in larger bulk, like the 5lb. jugs of FO, and atleast 2 boxes of wax, If i could find a supplier closer (pick up), I would buy more! I dont mind not making money really, I just dont want to lose money. However, for being a hobby, it has sure picked up lots, and feels like a business, and in the future we may lean towards that more, but not at this time. 8 oz jelly jars (6 oz fill) gb444, also used 464, like them both I sell them for $6 each or 4/$20. * I havent had any complaints w/ any of my prices. As for tarts, I pkg in bakery bags and weigh them all out at approx 5 oz per bag. Some may be 4.9 and some may be 5.1 or 5.2, just depends what molds i use. Sometimes if i have extra left and I dont want the remaining tarts then I even throw them in as extra, just depends what the scent is! I sell my bakery bags for $3 per bag. I am told all the time that my tarts are much better than the big name brands that you see selling in the mall. Well, hope this helps you. I am still very new to this all, but if you have any questions, I will be glad to help! oh, FYI, I was making mine all on the stove top (double boiler type system) and the presto pot is SOOOO much better! Wish I would have discovered that months ago!
  11. If you decide to try the country spice from the candlemakers store, let me know what ya think! I just bought some the other day, and got it today, poured tonight, and it is sooooo super strong! I did get the grade A, just a fyi. Take care:)
  12. The candlemakers store has a scent called country spice, i got a sample of grade a, and this is a great country / spicy scent. I had so many "spice" scents that i actually re-named it to "country store" b/c that is the first thing that came to mind when i smelled it. I only had the sample, so i only made tarts in it, but everyone that bought the tarts is requesting more of it! hth, natalie
  13. That was GREAT! got a nice little chuckle out of that:)
  14. I second Harvest Pumpkin from cierras! it is great! i put in 444 and 464:)
  15. I saw some very cute, non electric ones at "crafts 2000" in springfield ohio. I dont know if they ship, or have an online catalog? I saw them in the store. HtH, Natalie
  16. Thank you soooo much! I am soooo glad to hear that! I definatley feel a boost of confidence! Thanks again:) your words are very encouraging:)
  17. They are real baby food jars, however, I did paint the lids and I add some decor to the tops, these ones in pics i had the silk leaves on, b/c that was the theme for the order, but usually i get these wooden stars, and paint them a burgandy or rust color and add them to the top. I dont leave them bare w/ the gerber advertising. I also have some little cinnamon looking brooms that I thought I could put on top for the harvest season. Thanks for your opinion! I really appreciate all the feedback that I have gotten.
  18. Thank you everyone for your responses! I really appreciate it! I will keep the price as is for now, and maybe put them "on sale" if I dont move them by christmas time. Thanks again, Natalie
  19. ok, I have a question. I am making candles in baby food jars, calling them "Baby Melts" I fill them w/ 3oz of weighed wax. I have been charging $3 or 4/$10. These candles are highly fragrant too. I have had a few people say "Three Dollars?" like it is too much, Is it. I have been trying to price my stuff at $1 an oz just b/c it is so tricky, to figure out, and that just seems more simple. I have done that price up to 12 oz. I figure if I make larger candles, then I cant do that price then, but I will think about that when the time comes. Just as an FYI~ i charge my 8 oz JJ (6oz of fill) $6 each or 4/$20 and 120z candles ( i usually fill 12.5 oz) $12 each or 2 for $20. Fair pricing? or Too much. Also, I make these "Thank You" tags, that I have been charging .25 cents for. I forget what they weigh, but not much at all. Is .25 cents too much?I havent sold as many of them yet, they are more of a special request item. I really appreciate and respect everyones opinions, so be honest....Thanks Much:)
  20. I use the scallped ones and have more recently started using ice cube trays. They arent as "pretty",but they sure are easy to fill and release from trays (the scallped ones scratched my finger tips all up). None of the people I sell to have complained about how they look, they get melted down anyway. I also use lots of candy molds, they are cheap enough and do make nicer tarts also. I package my tarts in 1/2 # bakery bags.
  21. Thank you so much for sharing! I dont know if there is a dollar tree around me, but I will definatley do a search on it! Great price, cant beat that!
  22. I got their email and put a list together! I wish they would get more FO! I LOVE their 3 green leaf ratings!
  23. I have used apple creek, pumpkin spice, and harvest from there. They all smelled great in 464 . I just put in another order and am going to try their maple toddy.
