I am a full time mom and Registere nurse. I work in an Emergency room. I decided to give candle making a try b/c I spend so much $$$ buying them. There is alot more to it than what i ever imagined! I am having fun doing this, for me it is a hobby, something to keep me busy! Glad I found this site!

  1. I am glad to hear you have had "great customer service" - your re bottle suggestion still wouldn't solve the problem to the issue I had with their jug. Thanks anyway;)
  2. I LOVE their oils, but I have to admit, their customer service leaves something to be desired. I called with a pouring issue in their 5lb jug. I noticed that when I get down to the last 7-10 oz and pour the oil, it leaks everywhere and runs down my arm, makes a mess on the floor, etc. I cannot afford to waste oil. They were not very receptive of the constructive criticism. They commented that their customers actually prefer this container. This current jug looks like a laundry detergent jug. I asked if I could buy the same 5lbs in the 16 oz bottles, (at the 5lb pricing) and they wouldn't allow me to do that. I was very disappointed and have even started looking into trying to buy the pumpkin soufflé from another dealer.
  3. I use 444 for my tarts and they do frost, but that doesnt bother me. They release well. I used to use the 464, but they tended to stick to the molds and were a bit soft for my needs. I have also done the 444 in clamshells. they release great, but they are very crumbly and can be messy. I didnt like that about it.
  4. I am looking for a new pumpkin scent. I tried the new one at cs, i am not loving it. It wasnt strong enough for me:( I have these samples from candle source on the way and glad to hear that everyone likes them so well. Cant wait to test them:)
  5. spiced cranberry and country spice throw great for me. They are strong enough that I can use the B version. I use soy 444
  6. That looks awesome!!! I cant wait to see it cut!
  7. Those look awesome!!! I wish I could make amazing soap like that!!!!
  8. Welcome to candlemaking! I love it. It started out as a hobby for me and then quickly started to take a business route! This past christmas was our second christmas that we have been in business and we finally got out of debt to the candle business. The business now supports itself, and we have a little extra even. I think that if we paid ourselves and deducted the electric and some other expenses it would be questionable if we "made money" but it is still a hobby too, and since I love to make them, I havent counted every single cost. I am sure that too, will change in time. So, moral of the story, lol, it does take time and lots of $$$$ . I found some really good deals on craigslist when I was just getting started, ppl were selling out LOTS of candlemaking stuff, you may want to check there for good deals on supplies, etc to save some $$. Good luck and have fun w/ it. It will all come together in time:)
  9. I agree on the hit and miss. My favorites in 444 and 464 were vanilla bean noel and cranberry spice or spiced cranberry. I know get the spiced cranberry at candlemakers though. it is cheaper and throws great!
  10. I have used very vanilla in M&p and it is AWESOME. It will turn brown though.
  11. I LOVE this board!!! Everyone was so helpful in giving me tips along the way and I did LOTS of reading and posting at first, but now I am sooo busy w/ our candles and my other job and being a mom,etc etc, Im not on here as much:(. I used to work 7p-7a and get on here during our slow hrs but now i work 3p-3a and there arent any "slow" hrs on that shift!. Thank you to everyone one that keeps this board going and all the users, you are so very much appreciated:)
  12. The owner of 1803 was on here at one time. I forget her name???? If I think of it I will let ya know. I too was interested in some of her scents and did some research into what suppliers she used.
  13. HI, I started out using eco 10 in my JJ but for some scents they burnt to fast and others they didnt seem to get hot enough to get complete melt pool. SOOOOO I have been working w/ the htps now and they seem to be JUST the balance that I was looking for. The htp 105 does great w/ the spicier scents and on the other hand doesnt seem to burn up the other easier wicked scents. I can also wick down to 104 on easier scents, like blueberry for example. Hope that helps and have fun w/ candle making!! Mine started out as hobby, and this year we are going to make it an actual busines. funny how things change. you can read back on my old posts and see where I have even commented about just being a hobby!! Have a merry christmas!
  14. Great display pics!! I have been looking for something to display my clamshell tartz on!!
  15. I have only done one show this year, I only do it b/c I used to work there and they do it as a fundraiser. Anyway, after reading all this I think this is something that I would like to get into more!! Is there a site listing local craft shows and any other info that goes along w/ that?? I have searched online, and found some, but no big hits on a free listing. Thanks. Glad to hear shows went so well for everyone
