  1. I know it's old fashion....but I use playtex gloves and lots of paper towels. Usually use Dawn "grease cutter" type dish liquid. With the gloves on, my hands can stand a bit hotter water. HTH Karen
  2. I agree...CS Misteltoe is fab or KY's Christmas Past. (I think that's the name).
  3. Carole...thank you so very much...I actually have some cd 7 & 8's and will pour those tomorrow. I really appreciate that info . Carrie...will try those as well..since I'm pouring. Thanks you guys...I look forward to reporting success in a few days after testing to the bitter end. Karen
  4. I'd like to know too. I've never had any luck with citrus FO's not eventually smelling like fuel. Even a pineapple eventually smells like fuel after a few burns (to me at least). Would like to find one of those that didn't.
  5. Well...it's back to the drawing board...really thought the Peaks Cotton Core wicks were going to be the bomb...haha...that's exactly what they did...BOMBED!! They're not hot enough to create a decent melt pool and therefore a decent HT. I used C-70's and C-75's in 8oz. 3" dia. tins and on several FO's the C-75's drowned after only 3 1/2 - 4 hrs. I'm awaiting a delivery on Tuesday for zinc wicks to try. I poured 3 testers today using CDNs to see how they work. Didn't have the appropriate size of just CD's. Poured 2 tins-one with a CDN 12 and one with a CDN 10 (thought a 14 would be way too big) and a 8 oz. square mason jar with a CDN 12. Will start testing these on Tuesday. FO is Sage-Pomegranate( 1 oz/lb) from CS and Bayberry dye chip from CS. I really like this wax and am desperately trying to get the wicking solved. My little storage room (aka spare bedroom) looks like a tester graveyard. Performing last rites on them tomorrow ! Forgot to mention...I do add 10% extra of GB 464 to the 6006. Will post my CDN and zinc results when I have them. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I've read all the past posts many, many times. I'm still determined to succeed. Any one else out there testing this wax too? (misery loves company). Karen
  6. Oooh...how pretty...love the ones with the swirly tops! Terrific job...also love the colors you chose.
  7. I'm expecting an order from them on Tuesday...I sure hope I get it as a sample. I ordered a couple of packs of wicks from them and didn't get a free sample. I know they say if sending a free sample changes the shipping they don't include one , so I hope I get one this time!
  8. I'm an IGI girl as well. I can pick up locally. The only wax I have to have shipped is my KY tart wax. Now wicks are a different story. Can't purchase locally what I use. Wish they had a wider range of wicks and candle accessories..
  9. I use KY tart wax with 20% soy added which aids in smoother tops. CT & HT have always been great. No problem with frosting.
  10. So pretty...I almost want to take a bite out of them! . Very creative of you.
  11. tootie...are you using Glass Glow? What wicks will you be trying? CD's or CDN's?
  12. I've always wanted to do that too. Let us know how it turns out. Never was happy with 464 on its own.
  13. Thanks Stella...I didn't think there was much use for it in my parrafin based wax but was just wondering.
  14. Amen to that...I've got quite a collection of wicks going on myself...whatever comes up...I'm ready:yay:
  15. I've never heard of it either but was just wondering. I use 6006 straight and don't have problems with sink holes or wet spots but then I mostly use 8 oz tins and 8 oz square mason jars. The wax seems to like these sizes and shapes. I too would add a little extra soy if problems occured. In my idle time (yes, I occasionally have a bit of that..especially while my haircolor processes ). I was just wondering if there was a benefit.
  16. Does anyone use coconut oil in their 6006 wax? I've read in the Veggie forum that some add this to their soy wax and was wondering if anyone has tried or uses it in the 6006. Just curious as to what purpose it performs.
  17. Thanks Dirtybird...I was just looking for fruity but got distracted..I'm ADD when it comes to FO's:embarasse ..can't seem to help myself! This is my first time ordering from BW so thanks for turning me on to her. Can't wait to test them out. I have a good feeling about these. CS is close to me and I can pick up and save on shipping but I've not been totally in love with their fruit scents.
  18. Thanks for all your suggestions. Just ordered from BW Tropical Fusion Pomegranate Peach Blackberry Patch and couldn't resist..Pumpkin Cornbread and Honey Gingerbread Can't wait to try them all.
  19. Yum..may have to break out the old credit card and try them all...what a shame!! Off to do my part in stimulating the economy. Thanks for the suggestions.
  20. Oops..forgot to add I use igi 6006 straight.
  21. Still can't seem to find a really strong throwing fruit scent. I've tried Macintosh Apple from CS, Brandied Pear from CS, Jamaica Me Crazy from Peaks (smelled like fuel to me after about the 3rd burn). Any suggestions? I don't have a great fruit scent for my line yet or at least one I'm happy with. Thanks for any suggestions. Karen
  22. Yum..that sounds good! Let us know how the HT is. Sounds like a very interesting FO that would sell good around here.
  23. Having a bit of problem trying to wick Peaks Amish Harvest in my 8 oz. square mason jars - 3 1/8 dia. I use Peaks cotton core wicks. Tried a C75 and wick was drowning on the first burn. I'm afraid C80 would just be too big..what do you think? I did use 1.5 oz FO to 1 pound igi 6006, 1/2 tsp. UV and 1 CS Brown dye chip. I know this is a heavy oil so next time I'll probably cut back on the FO but am stumped on wick size. Anyone successfully wick this FO using igi 6006? I would appreciate any input. Karen
  24. CS Hansel & Gretel's House in igi 6006.....totally fab scent...getting ready to order a bigger bottle! Perfect for the upcoming fall/winter season. Thought I would have to wick up with this but just wasn't the case.
  25. Very nice!! I like #1 & #3 as well. Good job.
