  1. the glass manufacturer sells them as 10oz aplothys, but you can only fir 8oz of wax in them. I sell them for $9.99
  2. in my experience with this wax, it always needs at least a week to cure in order to get a good throw.
  3. Being a new candle maker can start out confusing. Don’t worry, you will make a lot of mistakes in the beginning, but just keep moving forward and learning from them. Don’t ever get discouraged. Don’t ever think any of your questions are dumb. Everyone on here has asked every sort of question before so don’t feel bad. You may want to start with some of these fragrance oil companies: Peaks, Sweet Cakes, Candlewic or King House. Those are the ones I see people use the most. With Cargill C-3 wax, you want to heat to about 165 and remove from heat, stir in your FO (1 - 1 1/2 oz per lb) and let cool down to around 100 degrees then pour. For wicks, I have had great sucess with RRDs with that wax and those tumblers. Try the RRD 50 or 55.
  4. be careful when adding soy, it is real greasy so only add a few ounces if making a 1lb batch.
  5. here is one that i use. Just run it through the soap calc and change the number of lbs at the top to 5 Olive 32% Coconut Oil 18.% Castor Oil 6% Avocado Oil 9% Soybean Oil 32% Shea Butter 3%
  6. the wax will most likely seep underneith the label when pouring and you wont be able to read it.
  7. I was wondering about this too, I wonder if it would help with the frosting or anything. hmmmm I will have to purchase a sample pack from Northstar since this is where I get my wicks from, and their prices are pretty reasonable.
  8. Whats ADM wax? Sorry, I have only used Calwax CB3, Naturewax C-3 and another kind I cant rememeber. Do you have a website for ADM?
  9. I think the microwaving suggestion is just a marketing strategy on Yaley's part. If you microwave in 30sec spirts is should be okay. As long as you use a glass Pyrex cup or what ever. But what scares me, is that some people are not as smart as others, and I am sure there have been a lot of accidents when using this method. To me, their wax looks just like Cargill Naturewax, so I bet it’s not really Yaley’s own brand, but a quality manufacturer’s brand.
  10. This actually happens with all waxes and not just the CB3. I have seen a lot of people warn others about not pouring to high. i use the apothys and it happens to with pouring to high on the apothys.
  11. I use the RRDs as well. I get mine from Northstar and theirs have a beeswax coating. http://www.northstar3c.com/cgi-bin/shop2/cp-app.cgi?usr=51H9990217&rnd=8387757&rrc=N&affl=&cip=209.74.96.60&act=&aff=&pg=cat&ref=RRD&catstr=HOME:9
  12. Great job girl. way to go on your first born
  13. i have noticed this too. i will pour a soy candle and get real bad frosting or blooming and then zap it in the mocrowave and let it set up again, and it is perfect.
  14. huh, very very werid. I have never had these problems with my CB3. I usually just heat to about 150-160, just right after the wax completely melts, I turn off the flame. Then i stir in FO and color and let cool to 120-130 and pour. :undecided
