  1. i decided not to add dye to my latest soy blend container because i've been having problems with wicking lately and the flame being really low. i have a 4 oz and 6 oz tin with an htp 83 wick. by not adding dye, will that affect the burn of the wick? thanks
  2. the reason i thought i had the right wick is thats what the owner of one of the candle supply sites recommended for that size tin. i personally emailed them and they responded with htp 83. i thought he shoulda been right out of anyone. ahh well, back to the drawing board
  3. i am using a soy wax blend in a 4 oz tin with a htp 83 wick and i am still not getting a full melt pool. and even worse, the flame on the wick burns out! i thought i first cut the wick to small so i made another one with the wick longer, and it STILL dies out. i am so confused. i dont know what causes this and what i should do besides double wick. please help! i wanted to give these tins as xmas gifts. now i dont know what i'm going to do with this 100$ worth of supplies if i cant figure this out..
  4. i am looking to upload a free web template to my website but am unsure of what free FTP program to download. i am clueless how to go about it too but i found some nice templates i would like to use on my site. suggestions? directions? lol i'm lost. just trying to get on the web with my candles one day....not having the best luck. thanks
  5. SatinDucky, it says i dont have enough memory on my hard drive. that i need 128 gb or mb of space to install it but i know i have tons of space. i have almost nothing on my computer to take up that amount of space! its' practically new. i think theres a glich in the program maybe. i'm kinda bummed because i'd like to try it.
  6. i'm using a soy container blend from cargil if that helps.....
  7. thanks kerry! one more question to anyone who can help: for soy tins do i want a cool flame or what? i see the zinc wick makes a cool flame. is that good for soy or do i want a different flame?
  8. where can i order htp wicks for my soy tin containers that has cheap shipping? i cant believe most places charge 7-8 bucks shipping and all i want are wicks! oh, and is it bad to use zinc core in soy tins?
  9. when i try to download avery design pro i always have a problem installing it onto my computer. it says i dont have enough memory, but i definately do. i have tons. whats up with that?
  10. i really need to know what wick will work well in a 4 oz and 8 oz soy tin. i dont have the money to keep 'experimenting' and find out which is best for me. i've had too many failed attempts with low/small flames, and bad melt pool. i'd like to hear what you guys use in your soy tins and what is successful. cd? htp? cotton raw? and what size. also, should i double wick in the 8 oz? thanks
  11. i have been having problems with my wicks lately. i'm using 32-24 cotton core waxed wick, also known as the C wick, from genwax since it was recommended for use in my soy blend wax. but the flame is really weak and my melt pool isn't reaching the sides of my 2.5 oz tins and glass jars. what wick should i be looking for? and where do you get yours from?

  13. thanks guys for the advice. i will just need to do a repour. thats what i did on this one and it worked out better. jennifer, i curled the wick by wrapping it around a wooden sckewer that rested on top of the jar to hold the wick in the center while the wax cooled
  14. kathleen, thanks for the tip! but wont the heat gun melt the wax off the wick though? or is it really precise?
  15. I'm still doing tests on my soy jars and i always get something that looks like this after a few hours: what am i doing wrong? it's happened on my 2 oz mini jar and it happened on this larger 7 oz jar. i am using a soy blend from genwax. i heated my jars before pouring. i poured at 130 degrees as directed. i know that the wax condenses as it cools but how can i avoid this? am i pouring too high in the jar? (it's a square shaped jar. maybe that has to do with it...i'm not sure) any tips?
