  1. I had a customer request this recently and couldn't find it from my current suppliers. The other day I was browsing through Lone Star Candle Supply and they have it. I ordered it in 4oz. It has a great OOB and cold throw, not sure on hot yet, just made it last night. It is a really nice FO. It is a VS type. Thought I would share this with you all. It would be a great Valentine's Day FO. Amy
  2. How easy would it be to pass these 2 off as the same FO? I have an order for 4 Hot Apple Pie and now realize that I am out of that FO. I have exactly 4 Apple Cinnamon made up and ready to deliver. Have any of you ever had 2 fragrances that were very similiar and just change the label to suit your needs? :rolleyes2 Opinions needed. TIA....Amy
  3. I really like the gift boxes with bows. I never thought of that. Will have to remember than for next year. Where do you get those?
  4. I made up a case of wickless candles in a 16oz jar. I sold maybe a few at shows. Not many asked for them. I did not place them anywhere near my wicked candles. I do not make them anymore. They just don't sell for me. Most people that buy them for the warmers tell me they either leave the wick in it anyway. I would up having to give what was left of the case to my babysitter. She uses ones. She hides it behind some picture frames on a shelf. Although she did have it in a different place before this and one of the kids knocked it over and it got all over the carpet and she can't get it all out. There is a huge red stain there now. I have one customer that will order them wickless and that is fine. She loves them, but she also came to a show I was at recently and still bought the ones with a wick in them.
  5. The only way I would offer COD is with MO or Cashier's Check.
  6. Have to finish labeling candles, making shower gels, lotion, and sprays. Have a craft fair next weekend that is supposed to be strictly "handmade". Sure hope so.
  7. I read the posts about tealights and have gathered that I can use my container wax for tealights. I want to use the plastic instead of metal. How many of you use plastic or metal? Also, I read that some stick the wick in after it has started to cool. One person said tacky was or glue or something. I want to know what is the best way to go for someone just learning. I thought these would be good to make with leftover amounts of wax when I am pouring my containers. I also have had a few requests for them. Thanks Amy
  8. I would also like the same info. I have excel.
  9. Oh Gosh!!! Thanks Chris I was so excited I forgot all about that, lol. :tiptoe: I will try it with my name bigger...TY
  10. Thanks to Sweetcam I now have the confidence to approach some local shops with my products. I never did have a nice enough label or so I thought. Sweetcam did an awesome job. I did do the text. If it needs anything let me know. Can't thank you enough.
  11. Wow Slow Burn you have got it together. I need you as a partner to do the business part and I will just make the products . I hate the business part. I wish my mom didn't have to work and she would do that part for me. Maybe someday. I will think about this and make a deicision soon. I can't leave her hanging. Thanks so much!!!!
  12. I get it. I have been to several craft shows this year and have one this month. I wanted to make sure I understood the difference. I am not sure what to do about this chick. I may do the take up and order deal and she can have 10-15% of what she sells and we will see how long she lasts. I did contact her old avon leader and said she was hard to motivate, but she was honest and would pay for her items, she thought anyway. I will think about it and decide something.
  13. No I need this info. I know nothing about this type of thing. I almost think it might be more trouble to fool with that I want right now. I already setup at craft shows and things myself. I am funny about someone else selling my products. Theres another problem. I would have to know that she knew what she was doing. What is the difference in a trade show and craft show? I have never been to one of those.
  14. I am thinking of doing the same thing. I also carry these 2 scents. I thought about this. Sweet Pea=Sweet Kisses Juniper Breeze=Fresh Breeze This way we still have part of the name in it and if people say it smells like something familiar we can tell them.
  15. I believe I have read on here before that some of you have sales reps, right? I used to sell Avon and one of the former reps ran into me at a show 3 weeks ago and said she wanted some candles. So I sent her a price sheet and a scent list. And also told her this: I forgot to tell you that you can also take orders and you receive 20% of the dollar amount that you sell in free candles. That is just a thought. I know money can sometimes be tight this time of year. Let me know if you are interested in doing that and I will mail you some info. This is her reply: THAT SOUNDS GOOD, THAT WAS WHAT I WAS WANTING TO DO WITH THE OTHER CANDLES PEOPLE, BUT DID NOT LIKE THERE SMELL OR LASTING OF CANDLES. ALL I WANTED TO DO IN AVON IS TO MAKE AT LEAST 50.00 A MONTH AND THAT WAS IMPOSSIBLE FOR ME TO DO, I WAS SPENDING OUT MORE THAN I WAS MAKING. I AM WANTING TO HAVE SOME KIND OF MONEY THAT IS MINE INSTEAD OF ASKING MY HUSBAND FOR MONEY, THAT SUCKS. DO YOU THINK I CAN MAKE ANYTHING FROM IT? if so let's get STARTED WHAT ARE WE WAITING ON,.LOL SOUNDS GREAT WOULD LIKE SOME INFORMATION ABOUT IT. Did I word my reply wrong? I meant for her just to take up an order like 2-3 times a year to get herself some free candles. She took it as I wanted her to sell for me. Should I do this or not. I have never given anyone money before. I have had people take orders and then they choose 20% of their sales in free candles. What do I offer her if I want to do this? Sorry So long. Amy
  16. I do not like Mulberry or Harvest Berries. I can't keep it stocked though. I run out of it at every show we do. DH and I both think it reeks. I hate making it. I also didn't like Pralines & Cream the first time I made it. It was so sweet. I got sick at my stomach and had to lay down. I use Creme Brulee with a hint of cappucino now and it is not as bad. It is a hot seller also. Wonder how these workers in big candle factories stand the smell if it is one they don't like.
  17. I have tried the 16oz Apothecary and they did not sell as well for me as the 8oz jj na d16oz Wide mouth mason jar. So I no longer carry those. I am planning to try the 22 or 26oz Apothecary and see how they do. It all depends on where you live and the type of market. I buy my jars local and that cuts down on costs since I don't have to pay shipping. Although I am thinking of trying a different jj and approaching some local shops.
  18. Good luck to you. I have never bought that brand of candles, but I have a former customer of theirs. She used to buy theirs and then bought one of mine and tried it and loves it. I have seen a catalog and their prices are high.
  19. I have had good results with At Wix End Mulled Cider. I sell out of it everytime I get it made up. I have never smelled WYW's though.
  20. I agree with Bev. We had a big show 2 weeks ago. I had people buying Honeysuckle and Magnolia and ran out of it. Sweet Pea is also a good year round seller for me. People tell me that the bakery scents make them want to eat.
  21. I may be stupid here, but what is the difference in the Bubble Wash Concentrate and the Crystal Clear Shower Gel?? http://www.wholesalesuppliesplus.com/Product.aspx?Tab=1&CatalogID=2&GroupID=332&CatalogTitle=0&CategoryID=828&CategoryName=Shower+Gel
  22. Can we make candles in coffee mugs and soup bowls? I have only used glass containers.
  23. I have ordered supplies before COD and UPS will not leave them without MO or cashiers check. I would be leary also. Ask them to provide you with their # and ask if it is okay to call them and discuss this.
  24. I put one in my bedroom or bathroom in the back of the house and one in the living room. I also give them to my sis in law, mother and a customer that has been with me from day one. She is good. She tells me exactly what I need to know.
  25. I have someone interested in a fundraiser and I have a couple questions for some that have done this before. I did get the forms from candle cauldron. I have decided to offer only a 16oz mason jar. I normally sell these for 8.00 each. So I can let them have them for 7.00 each and they can sell them for 10.00 each. It is a girl scout troop. There are 15 girls. I would like to do this since it is a small group and I can learn before I try and take on a larger group. What % do most of you give them? Do you bag each customers order seperate for the children? If so, do you suggest a kraft paper bag or the thank you type? What do you usually print the order forms for them to take orders on? Do you give each child one candle to take to show that size and quality of the candle they will be receiving? Any other comments would be greatly appreciated. TIA....Amy
