  1. I will be pouring containers in Christmas scents, as well as, my regular scents. Getting ready for a show on Nov. 11, 12 & 13th. Have to get b & b items made. Clamshells. Got soy melts done last week. Also have to put together a wedding basket for a friend. Everyone have a great weekend!!!
  2. I have never done a home show, but in my opinion take whatever you have on hand and sell it. If they want anything you don't have take orders. I would give them an estimated time of delivery. I am sure it will be quicker than the PH lady.
  3. I sympathize with you. I am worrying about not enough product and customers not buying because I don't have what they want. I did a small show Oct. 3rd, then a festival with about 10,000 the 8th and now going to do a festival the 14th, 15th & 16th with 30-40,000. I am low on some things, but had to house sit for 5 days for a lady I work for, so no time to make candles. I am worried that I will not have what people want, but I keep telling myself not to worry and if you run out they won't know I ever had it unless someone told them, lol. I have been told that the festivals are not as good as craft shows, this is my first year doing shows, learning. We are going to a craft show next month that is strictly handmade items and I think we will do good. It is indoor and 3 days. Just take what you have and make the best of it. Sorry to rambleon about myself so much, got carried away. :rolleyes2
  4. I do not make pillars, but I would buy one with the fingernailing. It looks like you made it that way on purpose. I like them, but I like things that are different.
  5. For those who make Lotions & Body Butters...Do you buy a premade base or do you make your own?
  6. I am thinking of starting a mailing list. When we go to shows out of town I would set up a clipboard with a printed off sheet for name address, email address, phone, favorite scent, etc. I was wanting to know if any of you do this already? I would like to send them info of upcoming shows we will be attending, new scents or any that we are discontinuing. If I do this would I send it out monthly or every 3 months or what do you think?
  7. Do you package it in a 4oz or 8oz jar? I am looking at round ones either white frosted or clear. Not sure what to use.
  8. 36 other candle makers WOW! The most I have ever seen at a show we have done is total of 4. Although, this is my first year attending craft shows. We are learning where to go and not too. I am in KY. I would like to check out some of these in OH for next year. I have a friend in Middletown, I will have to call her. One question though, even though there are 36, each of them has something different, right?
  9. I use the Tshirt bags also. I get them at Sam's 1000 for 11.88. I also use the kraft bags, but with no handle. They are like a lunch sack. I get 500 of those for 8.62 at Sam's. I bought some of the handled ones and I had the handles come out on a few of them. I also have never ordered from Nashville wraps, but I plan to someday. For now this is more cost effective for me.
  10. I have had a HP 2210 all in one for at least 2 years now. I love mine. I have no problems with it. I am currently looking at a different type of printer to use for waterproof labels. A member on the boards here suggested XYRON. I am checking into it. It is supposed to be great for labels and other things. GOod luck to you.
  11. I didn't think it would be from stirring, but wanted to make sure, lol. TY
  12. I am trying to make shower gel. I am using a base from WSP. All of the ones I made turned out fine, but one type (Pink VS kind) I made was thin and watery. Can you stir the shower gel to much and cause it to be thin? I know I have read adding to much oil can do this, but I thought mayeb I stirred it too much. TIA Amy
  13. This was my 1st year of selling. I live in KY. It was really slow this summer. It is hot and humid. I don't burn as many candles in the summer as I do in fall/winter. It is just the thought of the heat for many I believe. We have 2 shows this month and I hope everyone is ready for shopping. I did make a basket to take to show my regular customers Friday and someone bought it. They all loved it. Have orders for 4 more, woohoo!!! In the summer lots of people take vacations, kids are out of school (some have to pay daycare), and work on their yards. I feel that I am going to have a good Holdiay season. Hope you do to.
  14. I sell to a local realty company. I do not have a contract though. They do not resell them. They give them out to buyers and sellers and other advertising things. I use her logo on the label and it has the realtors name and phone number. I make my own caution label for them and my name and the scent of the candle is on the bottom. That is the way she wanted it. They usually order from me about every 2-3 months. I do give them a different price than other buyers because they buy them a case at the time. HTH...some.
  15. I have been told that if you order 200lbs or more UPS gives you a shipping break.
  16. I wait until they are good and dry before I put it on there. They might have a spot or two, but not bad enough they can't read it. I haven't had any problems yet.
  17. I order mine from Wholesale Supplie Plus. They are easier and cheaper than me trying to print them myself. I also stick mine on the inside of the lid. When they open it, they will see it. HTH
  18. I purchased some cardboard risers from a member here and I have seen that others use them. Where do you get these type of risers? I may want more at a later date.
  19. Has enyone ever used this? If so, how did you like it? TIA
  20. Have I read this right though. I can't color it? So therefore I would have to use the aluminum bottles. Is the perfumer's alcohol the same as cyclo? I will eventually get all this together. I have a lady wanting a basket in 2 weeks with the set of b & b to go with my candles. I have the lotion and shower gel, no spray though. Where is the best place to get this? I am in KY.
  21. Is there a better way than using a funnel to get the lotion into the bottle. I placed it in the sink in hot water to try and make it easier to get in the bottle, but I am having to beat the funnel against the bottle to get it to go down in there. What am I doing wrong?
  22. I am not planning on carrying just pine. I don't want to have it left over and have to see it sit on the shelf. I have so far went with Harvest Spice, Christmas Splendor (spicy blend of fruits and everything wonderful at xmas), Christmas Eve (warm sugar cookie with a hint of spice and a pine undertone. This one really is not bad even thought it has pine), Pumpkin Pie, Mulled Cider. I have sold out of the mulled Cider and the company I order from won't have it until sometime this week. I started carrying mulberry cause I had do many requests for it and now it seems that nobody wants it. Candle shoppers are one of a kind shoppers. Every show I do is so different. Most of the time Love Spell is my number one seller, but not at the last one. I sold the least of that one. I also ordered the Home for the Holidays, we will see what happens with that. How many holiday scents to most of you carry?
  23. I am wanting to make body spray and possibly room spray. I am so confused. After I read posts and websites I get so overwhelmed that I get it all messed up. Can I order, for example, luxury mist from WSP or Perfumer's alcohol from Candlemakers store, add color and FO and have a body spray? I would like to package them in clear bottles and color them. On room spray do I use the same thing and make it the same way and put it in an aluminum bottle and call it room spray. I just can't seem to get this together.
  24. I bought Print shop home & office labels at office max. I like it. It was like 9.99. There are probably better ones for more money, but this works fine for me at this time.
