  1. I posted in the other forum about ordering some soy pillar wax and was going to make wax melts with it. I so far like it. Have not tested them yet. Will send to my mom for her opinion. I am going to order some container wax and also try that too. The pellets were so easy. No cutting wax . Here are the pics....
  2. I have noticed some here and there on my white doors and on my pc:rolleyes2. It comes off. I have natural gas and I would believe that would cause it. I have had other people tell me that gas will cause walls, curtains and other things to discolor. It always comes off. I use gas for heat in the winter and for my water all year around. I do not cook with it. HTH.....Amy
  3. I use Avery 8293 for my mason and jelly jars. I bought print shop pro program for...I think....9.99 or something like that. It has all kinds of pics and everything on it. I love it. HTH....Amy
  4. Thank you all for your responses. Everyone is always so helpful in this board. I am going to try it out today. I have some tins, I will try it in one of those and see what happens. I should have ordered the container wax as well. I am mostly going to make melts out of it. If I have good results with them, then I will work with the container soy wax next. Thanks so much....Amy
  5. I also meant to ask... It is a pillar wax, what would happen if I poured it into a container? I do not know why, but I am nervous about soy wax. It is like I am starting all over before I learned to make candles.
  6. I recieved the Homegrown Blend of Soy Wax (Pillar Blend). I was planning to use it for wax melts in clamshells. The only thing that worries me is it says melt at 200 degrees. It says they only use metal molds (for pillars that is). Is this going to be to hot for a clamshell? I am afraid it will melt it. I have never worked with soy. These are the only directions and I tried to call them, but they are not open until tomorrow morning. If it will melt them I will have to pour them into individual tart molds (metal) and package them differently. I started the clamshells to get away from the individual melts. I hope someone has an answer to this. I don't want to make a huge mess
  7. I have been using wax 1275 from Candles & Supplies, but I have been reading lots of posts on this board about J50 & J223. I was wondering if anyone else had used this 1275 that I use. It is a veg/par blend and is so easy to work with. I get a great cold throw from this wax. I also get a good hot throw, but there are some FO's that do not have a hot throw with this. Comments wanted.....
  8. Anything to get rid of these oils. I have a show this weekend and next, so I may mix them and try to sell them at next weeks. Not sure I can get them made in time for Saturday. I did a layered candle with the banana. It took awhile to sell. People only bought it because it was pretty, so they said . It was in a 16oz mason jar nothing fancy. As far as pillars, I have never done those yet. I am only familiar with containers. I am not sure if pillars are popular in this area. I will try and post a pic of the banana one. It is Cherry, Banana & Strawberry. I called it Banana Split . I had a lady that placed an order and she wanted Lilac, Jasmine & Lily of the Valley. It was pretty, looked like an easter candle because of the colors.
  9. This is our pillar blend soy wax. We tested many different types of soy waxes and we believe this is the best available. A natural soybean wax, made in the USA with domestically grown crops. Because this is a natural wax product, The crude soybean oil may be different color from batch to batch. Therefore our wax which is the finished product of the oil may vary in color from time to time. This is normal with a natural wax product. The color has no effect on the quality or burn factor of the wax. This is what it says about it on the site. I copied it. Hope this helps. They say that all orders will come with complete instructions, so I guess I will find out that way. I thought since it was a pillar wax I could use it for tarts.
  10. I placed an order for a sample container from At Wix End today and while I was browsing I ordered 3lbs of the Homegrown Soy (Pillar Blend). I am so curious to try soy I couldn't help myself. I have no clue what to do with soy when I get it. I have read some posts that you pour it when it is slushy. I ordered it to try and make some wax melts in clamshells with. I have some small amounts of FO's leftover and thought I could test the wax with them. Couple of questions: 1. Can I even use this for the clamshells? 2. I have never heard of Homegrown soy. I always read here about the Ecosoya, so what's the difference? I feel kind of dumb at this point , but it was only 1.49 per lb, so I didn't spend a bunch. Any comments are greatly appreciated.
  11. I have some scents that I got within the past 6 months that either someone asked for or I tried and it did not sell very well and now I have the oils sitting here and I would like to see them gone. If any of you can come up with some mixing ideas I would greatly appreciate it. I printed out the scent mixing idea sheet from this site also. Here is what I have: Spring Rain Juniper Breeze Tropical Cooler Banana Lily of the Valley Bay Breeze Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Margaritaville Peony Jasmine Thanks for any help...Amy
  12. There used to be a Michael's about 30 minutes from me, but they closed it. I think the nearest one to me now is at least 1 hour or more. I miss it.
  13. I am so excited. Thanks to all of you on this board I found something that I have been looking for since I started selling candles, but never suited me until yesterday. I was reading a post and there was a post for something at wix end. I had never heard of them, so I checked out there site and I found the perfect item for taking samples to my customers. I have been having to have them come to the car or try and mix up in a box what I think they will like and lug it in. When I call to see if they are ready for me to come by they say yes, bring your samples....I didn't have any, but now I will. I sell to several local businesses, so this will take a huge load off of me. I cannot wait for it to get here. Especially with the holidays coming up. Just thought I would share this will all of you. http://www.atwixend.com/product_info.php?products_id=243&category_id=2
  14. Thanks for the answers. I think I will keep on doing as I am. I have done well with it. I realize that I cannot have every scent and wax type that every single person wants all the time. Soy can wait. Amy
  15. I just let him talk and in the meantime was thinking..man I have a pretty nice product. Not bragging....but....I decided once he came over to my booth and saw that I had 4-5 the stock that he had brought he had to say things to make himself feel better. I have worked with the public since I was 15 so I have learned to ignore people when they are rambling. I worked as a waitress and bartender for 3 years and man the stuff you learn about peoples lives, but this guy was so full of doo doo he smelled . They actually crack me up.
  16. If it were me I would tell her that I am not available in January that I am booked already that month. In fact....oif she ever asked me to do a FR again I would always be booked up with something. Even if I wasn't!!! I had a HI rep tell me about the FR 50% thing about 2 weeks ago. They are going to kill candlemakers getting FR's at the schools. I have a FR with my daughters Girl Scout troop next month. I also agree about an agreement. They are going to have a meeting and then let me know the exact date. I haven't ordered anything yet. I told her once they set a date that I would meet with them and we would go over the "paperwork". Do any of your children attend this school? If not, as stated above I just would cut her off and maybe that will teach her a lesson. Hope something else great comes along for you.
  17. I did a small show this weekend and had several people ask if I had soy candles. I use 1275 vegetable/parrafin blend and have great results and my current customers are happy with it. What I want to know are there any of you that use this type or paraffin and also have a soy line with it? I thought mayeb after the holidays, during slow months I might start testing soy and just have a small line to go with my other. What are your opinions on this? TIA....Amy
  18. I have trouble with Clean Cotton. Not when I make the candles, but I had some wax melts I made and put them in my electric burner and the 2nd day I had to take them out. They were way to strong for me, but I have customers that say what are your strongest candles. I don't like Red Hot Cinnamon either. Pralines & Cream made me sick at my stomach the first time I made it. My husband had to finish it. I had to go lay down. The 2nd time I did fine. It is too sweet for me. I like Plumeria, Love Spell, Banana Nut Bread and things like that. As far as replacing I would do that. I have not had anyone complain so far. It seems the stronger they are the more they want them. I would have to say that Downy is probably one of my fav's.
  19. Thanks for the quick response. I will definately check this out.
  20. I am interested in learning how to make B & B products someday and would like to read up on it. I did a search for how to make shower gel on here and that did not work. I have no idea where to start. I currently am a candle maker, but would like to add B & B in the future, but at this time am curious as to what to use to make the stuff, lol. If there is a site that has info please post. Thanks for any help.
  21. Nope..I guess that is not me...sorry. My full business name is Southern Scents of KY.
  22. I have also been buying them from the local Big Lots and Dollar General Market and am paying $6.00 a dozen for the 1/2 pint and $7.00 for the pint. I have a fundraiser next month. I better go and talk to the Walmart here. Thanks
  23. sorry for double posts. My pc acted up and I thought it didn't go through. If someone knows how to delete it or can, please erase one of them. Thanks
  24. I will have to agree with you when someone asks is it easier for them to come to my house...I wanna bust out laughing. As far as the tins are concerned.....I personally love them and used to buy several before I started making candles. I make a 6oz tin and did a small show Saturday and it was way to hot. I only sold 1 tin. I think that some people are not sure about them. They are so used to a glass jar type. I do not use soy, but had 2 people ask for it Saturday and have had others ask for it in past. Might decide to add that sometime in the future, to my regular line. If they don't sell I will burn them for myself or donate some to the local schools for the fall festivals. They have an auction for donated items. Helps advertise. I am not sure what size and type of tin you are using from WSP, but I just received an order from them Friday and I got 50 6oz tins. You are meaning Wholesale Supplies Plus?
