  1. Silicone works very well. You can buy it at Walmart. The tube is about $3.00 and seems to last forever. I've tried hot glue and wickums, but like the silicone best.
  2. I use silicone. I buy it at Walmart. It works fantastic!
  3. I can't find a "technique" section . . . can you point me in the right direction? Thanks.
  4. Here are two blends that are really nice . . . 1. Berry Patch - 3/4 Raspberry; 1/4 Patchouli 2. Exotic Cherry - equal parts of Black Cherry and Patchouli Hope this helps.
  5. I agree, try wicking up to HTP 73. Also, I use wick pins and they work great, I never make votives without them! Hope this helps.
  6. I use Eucalyptus Spearment from Fragrance Oil Heaven. It rocks!
  7. I have a cinnamon bun mold and want to start making these buns for the holidays. My question is . . . can I use soy to make these? I'm guessing that I need to use some sort of votive or pillar soy. Any suggestions? Has anyone done this before? Hoping someone can help me!
  8. They have some great specials too! I've been looking at the 1 lb. of Bayberry and the 1 lb. of Pine for only $7 per pound. I've called Steve to ask some questions . . . he is very nice and extremely helpful. The one thing that I didn't like is that there are no scent descriptions listed.
  9. I got the following from the Snowtop website: 1. A combination of Rose Bouquet, Lilac Blossoms, and Fresh Linen (1/3 of each). 2. Another winner is 50% Rose Bouquet and 50% Lavender. I made the Rose-Lavender votives for a wedding in July and they were fantastic! Hope this helps.
  10. I've tried Honey Baked Pears, Teaberry, and Cantaloupe. Maybe it's just me, but I was not impressed. Their service is really great. However, the man who answers the phone is new and knows less than me about candle making. Next time I order, I'm going to ask for someone else to speak with and ask what fo's do well in soy. I'm not giving up on them!
  11. I registered for scentreview just a couple of weeks ago. No problem. Try again . . . maybe you'll luck out this time!
  12. Check out www.scentreview.szenasi.ca. You'll find a lot of information regarding many suppliers and fo's. I think the companies you mentioned are listed. Hope this helps.
  13. I've been using Snowtop for quite a while now and I love it. I heat the wax in my microwave to about 190 degrees - I use a large, 32 oz, Pyrex measuring cup. Then I add the color - stir. I add the fo at 175 degrees - stir well. I pour at about 100 degrees (slushy stage) - stir very well! The tops are always smooth. The scent throw is great! I also use Snowtop's fragrance oil. I usually make 8oz tins using HTP 1212 wicks. Since Snowtop doesn't carry a votive wax yet, I've been thinking about using KY pillar/votive blend for my votives. I've heard a lot of good things about KY too! If you check out their website, they have a message board that can give you alot of information. Hopes this helps.
  14. Thanks everyone. I really appreciate your help scottopus, I'll order a sample pac of the HTP's and start with the 104. Thanks again!
  15. Thank you all for your great ideas! I really like the Q-tip test; I think I'm really gonna like this mixing thing!!! Thanks again!
  16. I have a few summer scents (Cantaloupe, Teaberry, Honey Baked Pears). I would like to turn them into fall or holiday fragrances if possible. I've never mixed scents before so I don't know what to mix with (or how much) or what to call them. I've thought about maybe mixing with vanilla's or cinnamon's but thought I would ask for help first. I'd really appreciate everyone's ideas! Thanks.
  17. I'm testing soy in a 4oz jelly jar (2and 5/8" diameter). The only wicks I have on hand are 44-24-18z. I don't want to waste my soy or fo . . . any opinions or suggestions? Thanks!
  18. I must of missed that hyperlink to the scent reviews . . . could you give it again? Thanks.
  19. Thanks everyone for your help . . . . I really appreciate it! Casey: Let me know how the KY works out for you. About the wicking with the Ecosoya PB . . . I know someone that uses 44-24-18c and they're happy with the results! I have not tested that wick, however, I use 44-24-18z (burns at 4.32) on paraffin votives and the cotton one (burns at 5.74) burns hotter, so it's like wicking up with the soy. That's the wick I'm going to test. I think I may just order samples of both waxes - but it seems as though KY is a winner! Thanks again everyone!
  20. I'm trying to decide which wax to use for votives; right now it's between Ky votive/pillar blend or Ecosoya votive/piller blend. I'd really appreciate feedback from anyone who has used either of these waxes or has done any comparison tests. Thanks so much.
