  1. HI Henry, Yes, the zincs did mushroom if they weren't trimmed, but they do perform well. I just think the Hemp or LX are superior. If you use the LX, you will really like them.
  2. I love hemp wicks, and they don't smoke in my 50/50 wax. After the rec. from ChrisR, I ordered the LX wicks and they are wonderful. Try them, they are my new best friend. LOL No mushrooms, no soot, no smoke. Just a very nice clean burn. I am switching to LX.
  3. Hi, Well I have been using it for a while. It is a great wax, and my personal favorite, although the JS soy is right there, and easier to get, btw. ADM has an excellent throw, hot and cold, little frosting, nice tops when using the additive, Pannalite, which is soy based. I also found it to be very inexensive when ordering larger amounts. Here are the downsides, it is very difficult to work with this company! I have had orders lost, screwed up, and arriving half melted! So that to be said, it is a pain to deal with ADM. Love the product, can't stand the customer service. I have been testing the JS soy and it is supurb. A very nice wax, I do add either beeswax, or a universal additive for smoother tops. Heard through the grapevine that Daphne at www.barnloftcandles.com has a great no frost additive coming out, so maybe that would be helpful. Anyhow, that is my experience with adm. Jordan
  4. ADM, it is awesome. I also have tested the Calsoy CB-3 recently, and I had way too much frosting and my FO leaked to the top with 8-9% load. Not sure what the deal was with that???
  5. What % load does this soy have, do you know? Just curious how high you can go without leakage. Thanks
  6. That is weird. Sounds like it may have been made differently than mine. Tell me this, is your pot completely melted when you have the clog in the spigot? The only time I have issues at all, is if I try to pour before the spigots completely heat up too. Usually takes just a few minutes first time heating it up each day. Maybe tell Gena it isn't working properly.
  7. Just did that yesterday! I have been sick with a fever for a few days, needless to say-- I have made many a mistake during that time! I am not pouring any more candles until my mind clears;)
  8. Sounds like your spigot may have not been put together right. If they are made out of brass, they carry the heat from the pot and never clog. I bought mine from Heartfelt, and Gena's are made perfectly. You can pump out some serious candles if you get four of these going at once, I measure and pour directly from the pots and don't use pouring pots anymore. The wax melts so much faster than in the big melters, and I don't even use it anymore.
  9. Easily over 5,000. I am a perfectionist in every way, and there was no way I was going to sell in inferior product and ruin my name, LOL. So I kept testing until I felt I had the best product I could be proud of and put my label on. Now years later, I am still revamping my line, and still am a bit anal about it, but hey, what the heck. We all do things differently, I just want my candles to be a product every one is clammering to buy-- not one that everyone comments on how terrible it burned, smelled, or whatever. So those are the standards I hold to. I have kissed many frogs before I found my prince, so to speak, when it comes to creating the perfect candle! Jordan
  10. Hi-- I have to agree with getting a basic kit to start with. There are just too many options, and that 300 won't stretch far. Get samples of a couple different waxes, and just go from there. My first candles were jelly jars, and they were really an easy place to start. I would also recommend Just Scent for oils, she has great oils and gives out lots of free samples. She is in Ohio and has great waxes, too. The main thing to remember is that you are going to go through lots of testing before your candles are ready to sell. Most of us worked at it for a couple years at least before feeling confident about selling our line of candles. So don't take if personally when you hear folks telling you to test first before selling---this is sound advice coming from people that have been in your shoes before. We just hear lots of newbies wanting to make a candle to sell in a week, and that is just scary. Candles require lots of testing before ever being put on the market. Have fun--- Jordan www.justscent.com Good luck with your child, and enjoy creating.
  11. Hi, I have the same issue, I read that you can send it in to them and they will make one for you that fits your container. Don't know if I am going to do that or not, but thought it might help.
  12. I have to disagree with you on that one, this tool helps me get my jars wicked in 1/4 of the time I spent previously. I don't like the multi wicker as much as the single, mine tends to 'stick' and not move as freely as the single wicker. Maybe I got a bad one. Other than that, I love these tools. Have had the single wicker for a year of so.
  13. I also use this wax, and it is wonderful to work with. I have been enjoying the 50/50, and it is also a wonderful wax. I would give either a try.
  14. Orange Chiffon from Southern Scentsations is perfect, and no fuel!
  15. I am currently testing with Hemp in my apothecary jars, and they are wonderful! No more curling wicks like RRDs and CD wicks. Do you use them in sq. masons or hexes at all? Waiting for my sample pack to see which sizes work best. Jordan
  16. Well, We use quite a few here, but I have to agree on the cranberry spice, cranberry sauce, and cranberry orange, outstanding! All three are just wonderful. I think most of Becky's scents are wonderful, there are only a handful that don't work for me. Others to give a whirl are: Vanilla Buttercream Crunch Creme de la Creme--love this one! Totally Scrumptious Cinnamon Rolls with icing (this one is wonderful) Berry Buttercream Cinnamon Cider--wonderful throw. My special recipe egg nog--the best one yet. My mammas blueberry cobbler blueberry cheesecake appleberry spice cranberry cobbler spiced apple pecan cinnamon vanilla Well, these are good ones for the holidays..... Jordan
  17. There are many variables that can cause sink holes. Some waxes are really more prone than others in my experience. My 50/50 cannot be poured past the neck of the jars--where it starts to come in--or sink hole city. If we pour right at that point, it is just fine. Go figure. My soy will get sink holes if we pour too hot, or move/bump the jars. What jars are you using? That may be the culprit. J
  18. I love this tool, too. We bought a dozen of them when they first came out, and it really saves time. Anyone know when the multi wicker is coming out, it says on the site in August, but I don't see any updates. Jordan
  19. I have never tried that one! I will go and order a sample. I can't thank you enough for the tip:)
  20. that is the problem, gotta weigh those oils. The heavier oils weigh more, so if you are measuring them, you are adding wayyy to much. Jordan
  21. I have been using BNL sugar cookie, and I am still looking for a dupe of Keeper's of the Light's scent. It is so good, and we sell lots of it at our store. Thanks
  22. This happened to me once when my domain expired and I had to renew.
  23. This is one that I have not found yet. Any suggestions would be appreciated! Jordan
  24. I would say it has to do with a couple variables. Some oils are heavier and tend to pool, so I would suggest adding a universal additive, and take the time to really mix in the oils at a higher temp. It helps to bind the oils to the wax. Secondly, yes, humidity can wreak havoc on your candlemaking, we have been having issues for a couple months due to the heat, maybe try making your candles in your/an air conditioned house and see if it helps. Our shop gets too humid in the summer, and I have to actually pour candles at my house during these two months. I usually try to stock up for the summer so we don't have to do too much pouring at home, but sometimes you can't second guess what will be a hot seller. Jordan
  25. This one will blow your doors off in soy and 50/50. We use it, and it is very very strong. Not one of my personal favorites, but many customers go nuts over it.
