  1. Daystar has it. I haven't tried it but have read it is identical
  2. Thanks, I will check that out. I have never ordered from Tony, any recs for soy?
  3. I have been asked by at least 10 customers for this one, I had never heard of it, but hey, what the heck---if it is that good, I will give it a go and see if I can find it. We use soy blend and 100% soy. TIA
  4. That is so frustrating. We have had folks nearby try to duplicate our scents a time or two. I started renaming the obvious scents, so it is impossible to find where they came from. I found out this guy at a local show was writing down our scent list ----good luck buddy I have no problem with competition, but I think they should get their product line going on their own merit and not from cheating and copying. I spent thousands of dollars testing before I came up with our line, I think they should have to do the same. IT is worse when it is your own relative, geez.
  5. We found FOH's to be the best. Awesome scent, excellent throw, it is so realistic and you can smell the ingredients in layers.
  6. I will have to try this one, I love a good coffee scent, and Starbucks is my favorite coffee. We have an espresso machine in our shop and go through 10 bags a week of coffee beans, between all of us--LOL.
  7. I sell the heck out of this one---KY roasted coffee, a plain coffee scent with no cream or sugar. We are in Seattle, the coffee capital of the world, and coffee candles are always top sellers. I love JS's oils, and the cinnamon latte is really strong on the coffee oob, will be pouring it this weekend. I think it smells like the new starbucks coffee cinnamon dulce. Some candlemakers said they didn't care for this scent, but as a coffee drinker I think it is pure heaven oob, and am crossing my fingers for it to have a decent hot throw. IF you are looking for a JS coffee, her cappuccino brulee is really strong in soy. SS has a nice hazelnut coffee, but I didn't care for SFS's version at all.
  8. To my nose the JS version is strong on the rum, and very sweet, too--just like the drink. But I know some folks hate rum, so it isn't for everyone. Becky herself doesn't like the scent, but we love it. I didn't get a butterscotch note at all. I can't imagine mixing almond with it--yikes I bet that was gross! We think it smells just like my family's old recipe for Hot Buttered Rum from the 40's. I think it is really good, and it is so strong, we can burn one of these candles and it will fill the entire 4000 sq ft. shop within 30 minutes.
  9. I like JS's version too. In my new soy the JS sugar cookie is lighter for me, I had a better throw in the ADM which I no longer use. I would recommend trying it to see how it does. Sugar cookie is one of those scents that are so hard to find a strong one---every soy works differently!
  10. I use the SS version Holly, and in our soy it is very strong. It is one of our best sellers for Valentine's Day. Maybe try it again after a few days. I have tested the soy you use, and I did notice that some scents didn't seem to throw as strong in it. Every soy is different---but I would try again before throwing in the towel.
  11. Hi welcome to soy candlemaking. I have noticed that weird odor to some soys myself. You aren't nuts. I just stay clear of those brands. I recently switched to JS soy www.justscent.com , and if you are looking for a great performing soy, I highly recommend this one. Good Luck!
  12. Just Scents Passionate Purple is a good one, and Hyacinth Chula Orchid.
  13. What works best for us: Pour a wickless candle, bore holes into the wax with a skewer, put the wicks (w/o tabs) in the holes, test burn, pull them out and start over with a new wick. I just cut the wicks off above the tab and insert. A good yank with pliers is all it takes to get the wick out of the container. hth
  14. Hi all, I am a bit late in the response, been away for holiday. I have had great success with the Frostop, and use it at 2%. I haven't noticed the goopy stuff in the meltpool, I am thinking it may not have melted completely when you added it to your wax? It does take a while to melt if you pour at lower temps. I add mine to the pouring pot and it melts just fine with the hot wax around 175. Good Luck!
  15. The best pear scent! I use in soy and 50/50.
  16. I agree with Just Scent. Becky is top notch, and what she doesn't carry, she is willing to find for you. Awesome customer service and great sales. I also use Ky, Heartfelt, ICS, Southern Scentsations, Scented Bean, SFS, Keystone, and a handfull of others, but most are being replaced with JS oil.
  17. We get ours at Richard's Packaging. They are quite inexpensive there. Can't remember the price......so tired right now... I use a 50/50 blend and soy---and what works for me is a LX24 in the blend, and in soy CD 16 or 18. I have to test a larger size LX in this one in soy, I don't have the larger sizes:)
  18. I'd say BCN has a great version. Throws great and is very very nice.
  19. We make ours chocolate brown with embeds of raspberries and oranges
  20. I agree, this one is perfect, and it really has a nice strong throw. I love JS's florals and fruity scents, we use many and all are so strong and they are perfect for B&B.
  21. Hi! Well, our favorite buttery vanilla is KY Southern Vanilla. (Don't judge this oob, I am telling you it is strong and a best seller. It seems kinda light oob, and I didn't test it for a year after ordering it. Then I was mad I had waited so long.) Another awesome vanilla is Daystar Ultimate Vanilla--it is much like CC Vanilla Voodoo, but not as expensive, great throw too. I call it Vanilla Voodoo, as we replaced our CC version with this one. We also sell the socks off of JS Becky's Ultimate Vanilla, and it is more of a straight vanilla--nothing like Daystars. I also sell quite a bit of her Vanilla Buttercream Crunch--it is really nice--just like WYW's Buttercream Crunch.
  22. Hi again, We just received our order with Passionate Purple, and it is wonderful. A very nice scent, smells like a sweet grape and citrus with a hint of floral--to my nose. We are pouring the testers tonight, and adding it to our Lotion to see how it does---my daughter really liked this one, and has requested a bottle herself.
  23. Last winter we received several pounds of vanilla scents that had huge sediment crystals in them. One was the Totally Scrumtious from JS, the other was CC's Vanilla Voodoo. After sitting in the room temp for a couple days they were fine, but the water bath works in a pinch. Don't worry there is nothing wrong, these scents that set up just have a very high concentrate of vanilla.
