  1. lovemylabs...I had forgotten to come back to this thread. For the candleI posted....I used 1343, a 1/4 tsp vybar...and fo at .75oz I added the vybar because I wanted a more uneven mottle and adding vybar was recommended by Scented, I think. For rustics...I add about 3tbls stearic pp to the 1343...I also chill the molds a bit, but not sure that's necessary. I too use flat braid wicking
  2. that's a most amazing looking shroom. how was the hot throw? lol
  3. CS carries the 1343a...which is what I use. It mottles great. here is a mottled pillar with 1343 it also is good for rustics...just add stearic I love this wax.
  4. your welcome would this have been the crafter you saw then? glad they are close. hope you can get one. let us know please maybe one day I will try this. I was thinking.... pouring a thin layer...laying your wicks in when it's not "quite" set up...then pouring another thin layer, removing while pliable...and shape accordingly?
  5. here you go...found on etsy http://www.etsy.com/listing/57496861/handmade-flat-candle-bend-90
  6. Does everyone do a second pour to eliminate the dip in tarts? Or do you just deal with the dip in the middle? I use either 1343 or 4625 for my tarts and I just can't get rid of that dip in the center. Should I pour cooler? I pour at 170. Thanks.
  7. There is a tiny bit of bleed on the red into the white...but not as noticable to others as it is to me I think. That's before use. While using in the shower...there is more bleed. Here it is after using in shower for the last few days.
  8. I love it! I usually cp too...but m&p is so much fun. Love your swirls
  9. Thanks everyone. The red just really pops in person. I love it! lol Nancy...I used Celestial Colors Cherry and Emerald. I used about 1/4 tsp pp to get that red. Same with the green. That was the last of my clear base. I need to order more so I can do another loaf. I don't sell ann marie...but I would happily do a trade lol
  10. I want to make a scrub today thought of trying this one. Wouldn't this need a preservative though?
  11. I made this for my cousin for her christmas gifts. Hope the recipients like it. It's scented with Pomegranate and Northwoods Christmas. Those two scents work pretty well together. I love working with M&P. Such a surprise when you unmold it. and I love that I can get RED!!! lol
  12. I use a bayberry dye chip Sometimes I add a touch of brown to it to give it that sage green color.
  13. This is what I use. Works GREAT! It's at JoAnn's. You could get it at a Michaels or whatever craft store is near you http://www.joann.com/joann/catalog/productdetail.jsp?CATID=cat2115&PRODID=prd37408
  14. search palm wax and you will find several great threads. I don't believe that ply wicking is recommended at all for palm waxes...but you can certainly try. I tried wicking with thirty ply, sorry...the numbers don't work on this laptop lol...coffee spill...anyway...it didn't burn too good. I think cdn or csn are your best bets on wicking these waxes. hth
  15. I just noticed a typo in my last post. It was supposed to be 1343N. Thank you Scented...I will try the vybar.
  16. Hi Scented. Thank you. I was just researching mottling on here and finally found the post alan posted eons ago lol http://www.candletech.com/cgi-local/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=Discussions;action=display;num=1057327348;start=10#10 I have not tried adding stearic to it...but will try that. I will try the vybar as well. Umm...I have 2 different vybars. I believe I will need the one for the higher melt point right? I have not used that one yet and can't even think of the number of it. I like the look of the 1243N with 3% stearic added. Really cool look.
  17. How would I get a less dense mottle? Not sure if dense is the word I am looking for here... The pillar below is made with 1343 1oz of fo. I was wanting a mottle which is more spread out if that makes sense. Am I making sense?
  18. I don't sell yet, however I was a huge yankee tart buyer before I started making my own stuff. I loved buying them individually...and would buy several different scents at a time. I like variety. I actually like the option of single tarts for those of us who like to switch the scent up alot. I believe I was paying 1.49 a tart? Maybe more? Yankee online is showing 1.00 per tart. I know I paid more than that when I was buying them.
  19. I could have given you a review of soapcrafters fo's and colorants, had I ever received the order I placed with them over a year ago. Apparently they claim they never received my order...though they sure kept my paypal pymt of 100.00. According to correspondance I had with the lady who finally answered my email...the company was sold back to the original owner and she had no record of my purchase. I'm curious if they went under or if Elements is just carrying the fo and colorants only? I see Elements is now carrying some moonworks oils? Maybe someone with a better experience with soapcrafters will chime in. I would have loved to help...if I'd gotten my dang order And of course...their customer service does not reflect on their fo's...so forget that I said anything. I'm just still bitching about it...ticks me off still.
  20. I burned both salsa jars last night....and no voids at all so far. Burned for 3 hours. Interested to get to the bottom of the jars now.
  21. I tried that technique yesterday of flipping them over. I will let you know how it works. I only made two candles as that was all the gg I had left. They are 12 oz salsa jars. Nothing leaked at all. I'm going to burn today at some point and will report back. Did you try it candybee?
  22. I really like that crackled look in the second pic. But I want to know how you got them to be soooo shiney? The shine is stunning. I would love to have a shine like that. To get the crackled look...don't you submerge the mold with wax into a cold water bath?
  23. Personally, I would have just measured it myself and left the sarcasm at the door. That would have taken the mystery right out of it. Just sayin. Goodness wheels....I usually don't speak up but the eric of einstein comment wasn't very nice. He was trying to be helpful, even after you called for Top of Murray Hill to answer because those who answered you weren't "getting it". Anyway...hope you got your answer.
  24. Hi TallTayl...Love your name btw Yes, usual formula. It did not gel. I figured it not gelling was the reason. I use a wooden mold with silicone liner and wrapped in a towel and it still didn't gel. I should have just let it be and not been so antsy to see how the swirling came out. I'm going to have to really trim up the bars lol. I do usually stick blend to a cake batter consistency...so was a bit nervous doing it at such a light light trace. The swirl was definetly easier to do though this way. ILVCandles....how did your soap turn out? Did the oil soak back in?
  25. I watched that swirl tutorial from elements also and decided to try a batch that way. It took 48 hours for the soap to be firm enough to unmold...and even then...it suffered some damage from my fingers it was so soft. While the soap swirls came out great...I've not done soap that way so was shocked at how soft it was after that long. I think I will stick blend it a bit more next time. I didn't get seperation...but the slab was just way too soft for me to work with. I guess I could have let it sit a few more days in the mold. No rush here as I only give as gifts...not sure what my hurry was. LOL...ok...I wanted to see how the swirling came out...that's why I got tired of waiting
