  1. I only wholesale and the only time i've ever used a contract is when I sign a sales rep or a permanent showroom at one of the national markets wants to rep my candles otherwise retailers just place their order with a Tax id...
  2. I carry the Ms. Randy's Vanilla Bean on my site www.wildfire-creations She gave me the rights to carry it after she decided to stop selling
  3. C'mon ladies, after your wipe out the pour pot yeah you might still smell the scent but i've never had it mix in with the next batch. Hopefully you have more than one pot so after you wipe it out you can let it air out a bit before using it again...
  4. This would be a welcome addition to us. I am curious though, if its free where is your cash flow coming from, advertising? Will it be available to retailers? Just curious
  5. Your welcome Michael. I was in your neck of the woods last weekend, exhibititing at the Dallas Market, all i do is trade shows and insurance is a requirement..
  6. yup thats a good deal, i just went out last night and bought a HP 2600n at Best Buy for $299 plus it had a full set of ink catridges, not starters. I'm loving it and have been changing over my labels most of the day. What a difference a laser printer makes. I was going thru printer catridges with my inkjet about every 6 weeks, with the laser i get 2000 pages and professional quality..
  7. I use this wax and gotta tell ya i pour at around 170. I don't get sink holes in the larger containers (as previously stated) just my smaller 5oz jar. Instead of repouring them or using a heat gun, i put them on a cookie tray in the oven at 350 for 10 minutes, works great. Wet spots, it will take you some time but you'll get past them.....
  8. The closer it gets to April 15th the less people spend till their over the hump...
  9. For those wanting to check on ins quotes the name of my ins company is Tedford Insurance and here is my agents email chris@tedford.net He said they are licensed to underwrite in 39 states so maybe they can help. They are located in Jenks and Tulsa, Oklahoma HTH's
  10. Humm...after 4 years i don't preheat my jars anymore and have never poked relief holes for jar candles. I use a (touted) one pour wax and if I pour to just where the jar starts to curve in and not to the top then I don't have sinkage in the center (16oz) now the 5oz jars always have sink holes, i just pop them in the over at 350 (yes 350) for 10 minutes or till the tops are remelted and this takes care of everything...
  11. just a thought here, i don't have this problem because I get my jars direct from TVG and since i only ship out in full cases i just use the box they come in (it has dividers) and double box. Wonder if you could contact TVG and see if they will sell you dividers or tell you where to buy them from?
  12. I think this is a waste of time and money...
  13. does your candle line have a theme or the name of your candle company? Guess what i'm saying is my candle company starts with a W so I had the letter incorporated into a flame and used two different colors. Actually i didn't come up with this, i hired a student in graphic design to design me a logo and thats what he came up with but i told him my company has a western theme and i wanted colors that were basic so they would not clash with all my candle colors.....
  14. Check the yellow pages for box companies in your area, surely there are some in Austin. I buy mine at a local box company in packs of 25 for .38ea, thats the 8x8x8. I can get the lg 20x15x15 for a buck each....
  15. I'm in OK and have mine with Ohio Casulty, $379 a year product liability, 2mil policy. Check with an independent agency that underwrites with OC....
  16. oops, i do know of a place in Muskogee that sells wax but you will need to call to find out prices and brands as last time i checked she didn't have that info on her website. I purchase J223 from her by the pallet... just google her phone number, Scentury Candles in Muskogee. I just tried to bring up her website but i'm not sure she still has one but i know she's still in biz..also if anyone is in OKC you can buy IGI waxes at Hampel Oil over off SE 27th street, you just need to call Marty and see if he has it in stock, if not he will get it from their Wichita whse, he delivers my mottling wax up to Tulsa N/C cause he puts it on a truck that delivering already and i just go pick it up...
  17. I have a new scent supply business close to Tulsa..
  18. I have a better idea, why not pick it up at the docK of the shippers? If you live in or near a large city usually the trucking company has a location and actually you should get a break on shipping since you would be picking it up at the dock. Be prepared to load it yourself though......find out who the shipper is and then call them to make sure you can pick up from there. A couple years back i was going to have some wax shipped and there was an extra charge if they had to deliver residential so i called to see if I could pick it up at the dock, no problem and shipping was cheaper....
  19. J223 is such a soft wax that when the candle gets to the bottom most of the wax is usually liquid. Try a smaller wick for sure. I use zinc wicks...
  20. To get your name out there and move into more wholesale accts you gotta start doing trade shows. Yes they are expensive but thats where you pick up wholesale accts and thats where the retailers go to buy for their stores. The best shows are usually Jan/Aug. Here's a list of just a few of the shows http://www.giftbusiness.com/indexes/tradeshows.html Good luck..
  21. One i sell lots of is Burberry for Men, London Type and another is Curve for men
  22. oh...sorry makes sense. Actually our UPS store always has extra bubble wrap as well. Not only do they get shipments but believe it or not people bring in their bubble wrap thinking they can resell it but they can't so thats why the PO and UPS store has extra and they are glad to get rid of it. Another thing you can do is your retail stores in your town have to dispose of theirs so you might call them and ask what they with it. In our town they are required to bag up their peanuts before they put them in the dumpster, i used to buy them trash bags and then go by and pick up the peanuts but i'm kinda beyond that now. They don't get enough shipments to keep up with my demand so thats why i purchase it now.
