  1. Here is a new one I have tried and really like. Burmese Wood by Crafters Choice
  2. I am also interested in information on this. At present I am trying to infuse oil with these powders. I get a slight fragrance from the sandalwood, but not much from the others.
  3. At different times, I have used cucumbers, mango nectar and parsley powder.
  4. I ordered the formulator's alcohol from Snowdrift Farms. It works great for after shave and cologne.
  5. Essential Depot has technical grade sodium hydroxide 2 lbs. for $3.99. I was pleased with my order. http://www.essentialdepot.com/servlet/the-Sodium-dsh-Hydroxide-dsh-Lye-dsh-Tech-dsh-Grade/Categories
  6. Sorry this was a duplicate post and I didn't know how to delete it.
  7. These were recipes that I found on the Internet. I can't remember where I found them or I would have posted the credits. I think the clay probably helps absorb the moisture. It also helps the deodorant glide on. Both recipes work, but recipe #1 is my favorite.
  8. Here are a couple of recipes that I use: Recipe #1 8 oz. sweet almond oil 2 oz. besswax 2 tsp. wheat germ oil or Vit. E 1 tsp. bergamot e.o. 15 drops tea tree e.o. 30 drops geranium e.o. 1 tsp. lavender e.o. 1 oz. white clay 1 oz. baking soda Melt together 2 oz. beeswax with 8 oz sweet almond oil. Combine essential oils and Wheat germ oil or Vit. E. ( I used Vit. E). When beeswax and sweet almond oil has cooled, add essential oil mixture and stir well. Add clay and baking soda and stir until the mixture begins to thicken. Pour into containers. Recipe #2Heat 1/2 cup coconut oil and 1 1/2 Tbsp. bees wax until melted. Add 1/4 cup baking soda and stir constantly as it cools. When mixture begins to thicken, add 12 drops essential oil. Some suggestions are rosemary, white sage, lavender, lemon or thyme. Pour into twist-up deodorant container and set upright until solid.
  9. I think the picture came out great. I haven't tried swirling yet, but would like to try.
  10. I have read that many essential oils are toxic to cats, because they cannot metabolize the e.o.s. I have also read that pennyroyal, tansy and rue e.o.s are toxic to dogs.
  11. I use Optiphen Plus. It has worked very well for me so far.
  12. I am going to make an acne soap for my grandson with aloe gel, glycerine and Dead Sea Mud.
  13. With Printmaster you can use the rectangle drawing tool and create a cigar band any width and length you choose. From there you can choose the fill color, add graphics and text boxes. You can probably do about the same with Microsoft Word.
  14. Using a licensed and inspected facility does not guarantee that one won't find foreign material in a product. Who hasn't found a hair in their food at a restaurant or something foreign in a bath and body product?
  15. I use a combination of Virginia Cedarwood and Sweet Orange. It is a great scent for men.
  16. Go to Snowdrift Farm, they have the product and the instructions on how to use it.
  17. You might try using rain water or distilled water to dissolve your soap in also. I believe soft water works better. Mine separates also. I just give it a good shake every time before using. You might also use a stick blender on what you already have to see if you can blend it together before tossing it.
  18. You can use 1/2 to 2/3 of a bar. I made a laundry soap with lard and coconut oil. It also had borax, sugar and ammonia as ingredients. I wouldn't want to use a conditioning bar for laundry soap. I think older soap is much harder than new, so in my opinion it would be better to use. I grated my soap and added it to almost boiling distilled water that I had removed from the stove. I think I had about 2 quarts hot water. I stirred in my soap shreds until they had melted and then added borax and washing soda. After everything was dissolved, I added enough distilled water to make a gallon of soap gel. You have to shake this up well before using each time. Washing soda is different than baking soda; but if you don't have washing soda, baking soda is ok to use.
  19. The recipe I use is almost exactly the same. Here it is: Mechanics Dream Bar 8 ounces olive oil 4 ounces coconut oil 4 ounces palm oil 1 ounce of lanolin added at trace 1 teaspoon finely ground pumice added at trace 1/8 cup finely ground expresso added at trace 2.3 ounces lye 7 ounces water 1 teaspoon Sandalwood Fragrance oil I use cold coffee instead of water for the lye solution. It helps deodorize as does the expresso. I just grind regular coffee until it is like expresso.
  20. How do you mix your shredded soap? I mix mine with really hot water and stir until the soap is dissolved, then add 1/2 each of borax and washing soda. Stir to dissolve. This makes a gel that you will need to shake up before using. Hope this helps.

  22. My new crockpot also gets a lot hotter than the old ones. Maybe you could find an older second hand crockpot at Good Will or a thrift shop.
  23. SOS's Rice Flower & Shea is a great duplicte for the Bath & Body Works fragrance.
  24. You will need to clean your bacon fat first. Dump the fat into a pot with an equal amount of water. Simmer it for about ten to fifteen minutes. Turn off the heat and let the pot cool a bit. Set your pan in a sink full of ice water and the fat will separate from the water. After the soap has hardened, lift it out or pour off the water. Run your recipe through Soapcalc9 and click on lard. Fill in the amounts in oz. or lbs whichever you choose. Click on "comput recipe." Soapcalc will automatically give you the right amount of water and lye to use with your recipe. http://www.soapcalc.com/calc/soapcalcWP.asp
