  1. SickyWick that is how I do it with my wax. I use IGI 4625 not sure of other waxes. Something you have to test until you get it like you want. Rob in tx
  2. Not sure if it will solve your bubbles on the outside. But what I do is after the candle sets for about 45 minutes. I use a wooden skewer and poke four holes around the wick. If you are using the WCT or the Wick Pin same thing. I go down about 1" from the bottom which is actually the top. Anyway I keep putting the skeweres in the holes. Then I do my second pour. HTH Rob in tx
  3. Stickywick are you poking relief holes while the candle cures. Rob in tx
  4. creeksidecandles If you ordered the small or the medium they only have one hole. The only Wick Centering Tool for containers that has multiple holes that match the holes on the Multi EZ Wick Setter is the large. If you ordered the Large and received a tool with one hole. Check back with BCN and make sure you ordered the Large. HTH Rob in tx
  5. I bet a bunch of Lawyers out there can't wait for this to take place. Blaming the candle makers for a consumer not burning the candle correctly would never hold up in court. I have been on a lot of different boards and this board for a long time. I can't remember anybody posting that they were sued and lost. We make safe candles that burn great. We don't have to worry, but some of the larger companies that mass produce for outlet stores do. I'm not talking about the Yankmes and such. But companies that make candles and other products. GlaXX has had some major problems and look at some of thier candles the wick is not centered and pull the sticker off the bottom it is off centered and sometimes not even secured. I have seen some candles where the wick was not secured at the bottom of the container with a wick stick um, glue dot or anything. That causes the wick to float when it gets close to the bottom. The instructions say never burn a candle lower than about a half an inch or so. But nobody ever pays attention even if you tell them not to. I have a picture a customer of ours sent to us, of a big named Candle Co. I won't give their name but the wick was not secured on the bottom of the container and it floated to one side and busted the container. You can see the name of the company on a piece of glass laying on the counter. As soon as I find it I will post it. Glass going from extremly different temperatures is what mainly causes containers to crack. Normally from a wick that is not centered or the wick tab is not secured at the bottom. I have seen some containers that are very thin and I would never make a candle in one. I'm sure ya'll are just like I am, whenever I go somewhere, if I see Candles, I open them to check the scent and I always look at the wick. I think about 90% of the mass produced candles from companies overseas and some here are an accident waiting to happen. I looked at one candle at a Kroger store and it was 16oz apothecary jar for about $1.99 so you know the quality of the candle. I could actually see the wick touching the side of the container in the middle of one of the candles. I found a 4" square pillar candle and the wick was perfectly centered at the top. I took the caution label that covered the complete bottom of the candle off and the wick tab was in the corner on the bottom. The candle will not burn right it will have a blow out on the side about half way down. I watched Congress on tv and they were discussing house fires and some of the causes. They were hard on the mattress and candle industry. The guy representing the Candle Manufactures said that they are taking every measure to make candles safer. The Fire Marshall or whatever he was said he didn't agree. When the consumer buys some of these candles from these candle manufacturers they are unsafe before they leave the store. If they would just put standards on these companies it would probably help. I know a lot of the people on the board and in general I know that everybody here is very paticular about their candles and how they are made. We are not the problem. Someone suggested to us a long time ago to contact our local paper and ask them to do an article on candle safety. We did and they did a big article in our local paper. They contacted the Fire Marshall and interviewed him and he agreed with us that most candle fires are caused by the consumers not burning them correctly. I would suggest to everyone to contact their local paper and tell them you want to do a story on candle safety. Plus it is good advertisment for your company. Anyway thats my opionion. Sorry it so long. It just chaps my ass when they talk about things like this because it groups us with the companies that dont really care about making safe candles. And after meeting and talking to a lot of the handmade candle makers large or small we make safe candles. The Fire Marshall can tell you exactly what caused a fire and why. JMHO Rob in tx
  6. Dang girl!!! IF that is a screw-up, I'd take it!! You make it look so appealing!! Love the packaging. You got some magic!! Steph in tx
  7. oh, oh, oh....are you doing early online sales??? lol I'd have to buy extra just for the slice of cheesecake!! *see what ya went & made me post under??*
  8. Liquid Dyes that come in squeeze bottles tend to clog or thicken. You can become a "Smurfette" in a matter of seconds!! roflmao Wicks from different suppliers aren't all the same (size wise) even though they are marked that way. If using different suppliers for wicks, buy samples first. ***When one or more CT posters are on one computer....notice who is on line!!***
  9. We have all had or will have days of "duh". I've only just started with CP Soaps, but have decided that swirls are not in my vocabulary (or my soaps...lol). But I will keep trying to something with it. I had a real pretty almost swirl and pretty colors, but forgot to add my fo !! Iwas sooo mad. Hope your soap comes out o.k. anyway!! Your kitchen soap as well. Steph in tx
  10. I don't use this wax, but I did a Google search with j-50 wax in the box, and came up with several suppliers of this wax.....BCN, CandleScience,Tristate candle supplies just to name a few...HTH
  11. and I've been in a slump, because of health issues, but who doesn't want to make all our soaps so pretty with the swirls?? I would love to come even close to some of the delights I've seen lately!! There is hope around the corner, we just have to keep trying. :highfive:
  12. You'll have several different answers for this question. Everyone likes the wax they use. We use straight paraffin w/ additives use zinc core wicks and have consistent candles, because we have done our homework and found what works for us. Everyone has different tastes.
  13. xverion, when I first got Stephanies site which is now my site all the search engines I looked at were very expensive to get on and sometimes could take up to six months. But I found a company called Wpromote and they guarantee to have you up on 185 search engines in 48 hours and also promise to put you on the top 10 no longer than 10 days, I think it has been a while. It cost 24.94 a month I believe but it was worth every penny. You can pay an additional 49.95 one time fee and they will go in and evaluate your site for you. They check you meta tags and other things like that. They had me change a few things on my homepage like dont use all caps just capatilize what needs to be and the use lower case on the rest but they will tell you what they think you need to change and also tell you some words for your meta tags when the net does a search. Plus they relist you every month. I used them for about a year and then cancelled with them. but im still on all the search engines there are. Well worth the money for me I know Yahoo at that time want about 250.00 to list with them so I think I saved money going with them I was not unhappy with them at all. I think it is still www.Wpromote.com HTH If you have any questions let me know. There might be some out there cheaper by now I just havent taken a look. I know these people are good. Rob in tx
  14. As always, Great Looking Candles!! Don't know how you do it, but they are all so Beautiful. Nice Save too! Steph in tx Edited because I can't spell

  16. Like I said, this was a special order. I don't know that I would trust others to pull out extra wicks when they needed to. I don't know what to tell you if you plan to mass produce. :tiptoe: Rob in tx
  17. Barncat I widked a container about like the one your are talking about. This might sound crazy but it worked. I dont know what wicks are wax you use so I will just explain it to you with the wicks and wax I use. I use a parrafin 2281 and I have to do a second pour. I use zinc core wicks. Let me see if I can explain this. I put a 51 in the center on the bottom. I poured the candle about half way up or where I though the 51 would have a good melt pool and I poured the wax to that point. Then I trimmed the wick about 3/4" above the wax line and let the was harden slightly. Then I placed 3 #44's and made a 3 wick candle out of it from that point on. I made sure the customer knew that when she burned the candle down and the wick appeared in the center of the candle I made sure she watched the 3 wicks and when the wick tabs appeared I had her pull them out and the she had a single wick candle the rest of the way. It worked out great. This was a long time customer and I had trust that she would pull the 3 wicks out when she saw them. I made sure she knew that she did not want to burn the 3 wicks to far so they would not float to the side of the container and burst. It worked out well and she refilled it a few times the same way. I hope that makes sense and I hope it helps you. HTH Rob in tx
  18. Natty, I love that look for pillars! Great Job. Sabrina, should you decide to package instead of just store your Pillars, I think what Nattie did would work for you. You won't have to worry about the heat gun this way. You could leave some of your Pillars naked, but these would be really great selling point packaged like mentioned...IMHO. HTH Steph in tx
  19. Robin, way to go! Hope it brings you lots of business!
  20. Yep, Walmart has a good price on them. Robert
  21. georgia30240, this is Robert with EZ Wick Systems if you have a setter and a paticular jar that you use and the tool does not fit we can modify it to fit your container at no charge. HTH. Sandie, I used to sell these on my site, if it helps any it is better if you punch the hole in them instead of drilling. Drilling kind of bends them a little bit when the drill bit goes thru the hole. Then you have to grind the burr off of the opposite side. You can get a punch at northern tools for about 12 to 15 dollars and they put a perfect hole in them. Also you can use the wide mouth jelly jar tops and put a couple of holes for double wicking. HTH Rob in tx
  22. by one of our customers, that in the Product Catalog the prices for the Wick Centering Tools for Containers showed that the prices were for each. I fixed it and now it shows that the prices are by the dozen. HTH Rob in Tx www.ezwicksys.com
  23. Thanks islandgirl for the compliments. I know you're busy making tons of candles for your fundraiser. Hope the tools helped you out! :highfive: I know these are new products and it seems that the names of the tools get confusing to some people. So I am going to post some pictures to help describe which tools are which. In the first picture is the EZ Wick Setter for placing the wick in the bottom of the containers. The middle tool is the Single EZ Wick Setter. The tool on the right is the Multi EZ Wick Setter set up for double wicking. The tool on the left is the Multi EZ Wick Setter set up for triple wicking. The Single EZ Wick Setter fits smaller containers for single wicking. The Multi fits a little bit larger containers for double and triple wicking containers. The EZ Wick Setter and the Wick Centering Tools for containers combined, equals the EZ Wick System. http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e166/Beginner101/EZWickSystems057.jpg The second picture is the Wick Centering Tool for Containers. This picture is the small WCT that fits the 8oz Jelly Jar and also fits other continers. http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e166/Beginner101/EZWickSystems055.jpg The third picture is the small WCT sitting on the 8oz Jelly Jars it shows a couple hundred or more containers. It also shows that you can place the containers close together and the tools will not move on you while the candle cures. http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e166/Beginner101/EZWickSystems053.jpg These are pictures taken from my partner Don and his wife Sara's latest fundraiser they did. This is only a small amount of what they actually had to pour. He is not only a Co-Owner of the company but also a client. LOL HTH clarify the different tools. Thanks Rob and Don
  24. Thanks islandgirl for the compliments I know you are pouring a ton of candles for your fundraiser. idacandlelady I think bella soy is talking about the Wick Centering Tools for the containers.
