  1. I am a newbie also and have been working with IGI 4627 and found that this wax has excellent ct and ht when you use the proper amount of fo. IGI states it can hold 2 oz fo per 1 lb wax but found 1oz to 1lb works alot better. This wax can be messy to work with and I go throught alot of towels keeping my hands clean so I dont get wax every where. Note: 4627 seems to mix well and pour well at 160-165 degrees. Also try working with one wax not multiple as it gets very frustrating getting one wax correct. I am hoping to make this a business after I have perfected my techinque and maybe make some money from it but i will see. Just don't rush or it will take longer. Good luck
  2. I have been working for a couple of months with 4627 and found that ECO wicks actually give no visible soot and give an excellent scent throw when lit. I have burned my candles for 2 hours to test and also marathon burn (I know not recommended but need as much info as possible). I am currently using 1oz per lb for fo. And am using 8oz jj. I have currently three fo's down consistently, Cinnamon, Pumpkin Spice, and Apple Pie. I also mix and pour at around 165 to keep from getting any scent. Good luck it is a messy wax but man it has gret ct and ht. Hope this helps.
  3. i would like to thank everyone for keeping me interested in candles. I have been working on container candles for several months and finally got one scent to work correctly. This post has to do with all the tester candles i made. i kept all of them and have been stock piling these candles to use in case of an emergency. well today we had a power surge where I live and has knocked out the power since 10:30am. It is now dark here and have been forced to live by candle lite, and you guessed it, i lit some of my candle testers so we have light at the house. And by the way I am typing by candle light and using my laptop with my wireless internet card. So if there are any typos I am sorry. Thanks for all your help, now that i have creme brulee down, it is off to cinnamon.
  4. I have a question about that. I threw a book of matches into one of my candle and it didn't light. I want to know how hers are able to light when you throw a book of matches in it. I threw about 20 or 30 books of matches in the candle and they just sat on top of the wax. Might want to find out what kind of soy wax that is.
  5. You can actually copy the picture in either firefox or internet explorer with little problems, I like the idea behind it, only wish it would work for all manners of trying to copy pictures. Great idea though, good luck with your website, it looks great.
  6. lindsaycb - I would like to see a copy of the sheet they fill out for virtual terminal so you can process them and make sure you have all the information.
  7. In the main area of the forum there is a selection down towards the bottom below business and it states supplier annoucements and that is where you will find the information about the warmers
  8. I understand doing your homework take tons of notes and continue to test for consistency. It just is more of a question of what people have found works best for them as i am still experimenting with it being new and am trying to find out as much information on the waxes as possible. I propbably have spent more time going through the old and new forums then I have at work over the last month doing research but it all seems to be out there. By the way thanks for the input on what you use.
  9. I am currently using a parrafin blend by igi. I noticed alot of people talking about soy and soy/parafin blends. I was wondering beside the health advantage of soy candles. Do soy candle provide more consistent candles when you recreate the same candle over again. Basically what works best, parafin, soy, or a soy/parafin blend.
  10. You can get sample packs of almost all wicks from Lonestar
  11. Just so you know I compared price between let it shine and peak's and found that on the single case order peaks is better, but on multiple case orders Let It shine is usualy better. You have to call and speak to someone if you want to order 2 or more cases, as they offer discounts on wholesale purchases starting as low as 2 cases.
  12. I purchased my first batch from Lone Star Candle but Let it Shine is based in Washington and they offer discounts on purchases of 2 or more cases. Here is there web site address www.letitshineusa.com You have to call to get the discount for more then one case. Otherwise I find the Lonestar with there shipping is just a few pennies cheaper if you just want one case. How is the 4630 for ht and ct on candles. I am open to whatever works just trying to make a good candle
  13. I have let my cure for 3 days a tried it this afternoon. I know I will need to wick up for the next candle will this have an effect on the HT?
  14. i was wondering how long to cure a candle after making it to get the best ht from it. Can Anyone help
  15. Well first, I must say thank you for letting your husband protect our freedom. I wish him a safe return from Iraq and please thank him for me. Second thanks for the reminder about Christmas, but also don't forget Thanksgiving. I wish you and you family well this holiday season.
