  1. I was just going to search for an answer to this very question!! I just made my first M&P soap and it will be ready to take out of the molds soon. I need to figure out the best way to wrap it!
  2. I just poured the silk & shea a few minutes ago. I also bought it because of the rave reviews. It was very easy to work with, hopefully it won't be too bad to use. I also bought the goat milk base. I will try it tomorrow!!
  3. I am enjoying our Ohio weather today too.... but I can do without the wind. I am heading out now to go retrieve our garbage bags!! They have taken a tour of the neighborhood! LOL Enjoy
  4. We have our heat set to go down to 66 at night. I have actually used an electric heater in a bathroom to put my candles in so they could cool slowly. It worked and it is really easy to heat such a small space. I can get them poured before the heat drops, so the bathroom is just to cool slowly.
  5. Thanks Asheebeans.... that is the answer I was hoping for. Visual/hearing is MY style of learning so that would be a HUGE learning day for me! YAY I am so excited now!! YIPPY
  6. this might be a dumb question but..... Can anyone attend the event in strongsville?? I am not a soaper yet, but would love to get into it in a few months. I think it would be valuable to see what is available before getting started.
  7. I use the Ecosoya PB for my tarts and have never had a problem with frosting. It works very well for tarts. HTH
  8. Coffeebean, I mix 50/50 with 1tsp USA. You might actually have even better results than I have, you are closer to the person who had excellent results from that mix. I have had some frosting issues. It does give great CT/HT with a few days cure. HTH
  9. Jess05, Dolphin146 beat me to it....I get mine from WSP. $71 is still a bit crazy but way better than $101.50. That is 43% more..... that is unethical!! I wonder if that is a typo. Their other prices aren't as outrageous.
  10. Lorraine, KY pure soy has a melt point of 125 GB 415 has a melt point of 121-125 Someone else might be able to tell you if they are also the same product just under the KY name. If you want to try the GB 415, Candle Science has it and they are in NC. HTH Danielle
  11. Dee NG's soy wax is GB415. I have heard NG has quick shipping at reasonable rates, well as reasonable as shipping can be. I live right by them so I have not had personal experience with their shipping. I do however have their soy wax and it is GB415. ETA: candles and supplies in PA has GB415 also. Here is the link. http://shop.candlesandsupplies.com/candles/category.asp?catalog_name=Candles&category_name=Container+Waxes&Page=1 HTH Danielle
  12. thank you very much Judi.... now I at least have a starting point.
  13. Hello, I have 2 questions about this wax. I did a search and didn't find the info I am looking for. 1. is there a 6006 and a 6006a. I see it listed both ways. 2. does anyone know what % is soy/paraffin? Thanks for any and all info Have a great one Danielle
  14. I found too much CO can clog the wicks.... I didn't have an issue when I added it to ecosoya pure, but with the CBA I did.
  15. Ecosoya PB has a very good scent throw. I give my family tarts to test all the time and they have all commented on how good they smell and that they last a long time. This wax I am VERY happy with!! Now if I can come up with a container blend that makes me just as happy! HTH
  16. Welcome to the board!! When I was using straight CBA I tried the LX wicks and did not like the way they burned. I had the same issue. They also didn't do much for the throw. I ended up using CD wicks with very good results. HTH
  17. I will add.... location (climate) does have everything to do with soy performance. I thought in the beginning... how can that really play such a big role... but it does. A friend used the same exact formula and additives (same supplier for add.) as I, with totally different results. She got beautiful creamy candles.... I got a big snarky frost pit. I realized later that my humidifier had stopped working and the house had gotten very dry. Once I got the humidity level back up the frost really minimized. I now can make a pretty nice looking candle. I never had a frost issue with the CBA. I got very beautiful, creamy candles with no wet spots. Only issue was HT. Which if you can wait will be there after a long cure (it did for me). I am way too impatient for that so I have been on the quest for a great blend that works for me in my location. Keep testing and playing around. Just becasue it works for some, doesn't mean it will work for others AND just because others don't recommend something doesn't mean you can't try it!! Test on!! You WILL find a wax that works for you. Good Luck
  18. USA is not UV. USA = "Made Especially for Soy Wax! This Natural Universal Soy Wax Additive has a much higher melt point, so the more you add, the harder and firmer your candle will be. It also has emulsifying properties such as creating homogeneity and surface tension, which will give your soy wax a creamer and smoother appearance." UV = "This additive helps prevent color fading for all types of candles and all colors. A must for those who sell candles outdoors or under fluorescent lights!" HTH
  19. I bought my USA from JBN. It did help my blend. Coffeebean, for your tart issue, might I suggest using the Ecosoya PB. Makes for beautiful, great smelling tarts... no muss, no fuss!! HTH Have a great day Danielle
  20. I have the purely peppermint from peaks. It is really strong and safe for B&B. HTH
  21. I read the reviews and searched before I ordered LOL. I was trying to get some oils other than all fruity/bakery types. The Sweet Orange & Chili pepper had RAVE reviews. Actually I don't think I saw a post that didn't like it. I just opened that to take a wiff.... I smell orange sucker! I am at the tail end of a cold though so my nose can NOT be trusted! LOL Smells good though.
  22. I am using my own soy blend, but also had serious frosting issues. I ended up adding 2tsp USA pp and pouring between 100-105. I can now produce beautiful frost free candles. I am going to try backing the USA down to 1tsp pp as my humidifier is working again and the extreme dry seemed to intensify the problem. It was so dry in here there was static galore!! HTH
  23. I just rec'd my first order from MillCreek. I got a sampler pack of 10 fo's. My dilema is... on their "instruction" sheet they say to use 1.5 oz PP. I normally use 1oz PP. I have not used MillCreek oils yet so I have no experience with them, do most use the standard 1oz pp, or do these oils require more? I figured I'd ask before I started playing as not to waste them if they did require more. Thank you for any and all comments. ** Oh I got.... Sweet Orange & Chili pepper Mandarin Cocoa Lavender Vanilla Night Blooming Jasmine Cinnamon Vanilla Citrus & Sage Oatmeal Raisin Cookie Irish Cream Delight Lemon Drop Listea & Basil
  24. I haven't found one that compares in that manner. I figured some through testing and others from asking. from my testing I found HTP126 is close to LX24 HTP105 is close to CD18 HTH
  25. What are you wanting to compare? Which sizes match up, what they are made of, curl or straight?? this site has some useful info. http://www.wickit.net/products.html
