  1. Vio, that is interesting specially since my sister and I both had bad reactions to coconut as children and have avoided it ever since. Strange that is showed up a few years ago, but I do know that your body changes and allergies go in 7 year cycles! Things that make you go hhmmmmmm!!
  2. Soycrazy.... thanks, that gives me hope. I have some soap coming to try. I can't wait. If I had the same problem with body wash, i'd be in a world of hurt. I really feel for what your hubby went through before you made it all better!! Damn that itching and welting can make you rip your skin off!! Thanks again Danielle
  3. I would bring it to their attention that you are very displeased!! I think they would make it right for you. I was in there one day and heard them talking about e-mailing a customer due to an order change.... I thought that was their policy. Sorry you have had a bad experience! I hope they fix it for you
  4. They do have a show room where you can see and smell all of their products, order and take the same day. If you are ever up for a little road trip it is well worth it. I am a hands on kinda person. I love the fact that I can smell them all, ask all the silly questions I want and then drive to the back and go home with my loot!! I have never had a bad customer service experience. I am actually heading out there again next week. I have heard their shipping is a little crazy. If you are ever in the market for a large order it might be cheaper and more fun to choose the "road trip" option!!
  5. I am sorry I am not more help... LOL All I can say at this point is it has to be something that makes it a bar. I never found the ingredients on all the soaps I have use so I could not even compare them. I can rule out color and fragrance as they are in the liquids that don't bother me. If it was just one bar that would be different, but everyone I tried produces the same results. Like I said from mild to harsh.... all have the same itching welting effect. I wish I knew!! Danielle
  6. thank you all for the replies and help..... Doesn't seem to be a fragrance thing, all the liquid soaps I use are scented. I use lotions that are scented too. This "allergy" came on a few years ago, before that I never had a problem. Bar soaps don't seem to dry my skin. When I was still using it, my skin looked good and was not flakey, and lotion did NOT help. It has not be a diagnosed "allergy" as it really got bad after hours!! I gave up and stopped using bar soap. All has been right in "skinsville" ever since!! Thanks again Danielle
  7. I can't even use Dove... nothing in bar form. If I do I itch so bad then if I touch my skin it looks like I have been caned!! My DH took a pic one night it was so bad. Strange thing is.. the itching and welts started in the late afternoon to early evening.... after the Dr.'s are closed. One night it was so bad I almost went to the emergency room. I finally figured it out by accident. My DH bought me some "soap free" body wash from BBW, first use... no more itching. Now all I use is liquid body wash. Not one has bothered me. Strange part... I have a house cleaning business.... my hand are in soaps and cheicals all day. Non of that bothers me.... just bar soap. I thought it might be something that keeps it in "bar" form. I do want to try handmade soaps, I am not sure if one "process" of making it would be better than another. Any suggestions?? Maybe I should purchase a few from other members and see what happens. Thank you for the responses Danielle
  8. I am allergic to bar soap, everything from ivory to zest. I can use liquid soap though. I have started to read all the soap making info in this section and will continue to do so. The information I am looking for is if anyone knows of, or can suggest a "type" of soap to try that I might not be allergic too. I would love to be able to make my own one day so I am starting to research now. I am not sure what it is that I am allergic too though. I do not have a problem with lotions either. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. If it comes down to having to use liquid the rest of my life then at least I can learn to make that. TIA Danielle
  9. I have used the TL wicks from CS. Sorry to say they didn't perform well in my CBA. They were all too small. The 3.8mm neck wasn't an issue with me as I didn't glue the tab in, so it comsumed the wax through the bottom of the wick. It was suggested to me to try CD3 & HTP31. I haven't tried them yet as I kinda gave up on them for awhile. HTH
  10. With the liquid dye..... some places have much more concentrated stuff. Some say an oz will do 40lb of wax and others an oz will do 200lbs of wax both to a medium shade. CS is the 40lb place. Shop around as some liquids work much better with soy than others in regards to frosting. HTH
  11. Since I can drive to NG and WSP.... I'd say mainly them, at least for the big stuff. I do get stuff from CS, JBN and Scottcrew ent. also!!
  12. it sounds to me like it has kinda crystalized. Like honey does. When you put it in warm water to liquify it again, make sure to loosen the cap.
  13. a co-op for those just closed this evening. I was at a local "card shop" and they had the electric ones. $20 though. Sorry I couldn't really help.
  14. When I was testing LX wicks in my 3.5 inch diameter apothecary jars I used one LX 24 with good burn results. Not keen on the shrooms though. The 22oz Yank is just shy of 4 inches. So I would start with the 24 or 26 depending on FO. I was testing Eggnog and Vanilla/mint in CBA at the time. HTH Danielle
  15. Eden Sass, I too can pick up my Ecosoya, that is why I wanted it to WORK!! LOL I was shock with the results, I am glad it seemed to work for you too. I LOVE when things work right!!
  16. I used 50/50 with a little CO... but now that i have my USA I am going to make it with that instead. The difference in throw will amaze you... but you still keep the good qualities of the CBA. HTH
  17. I will be getting my CSN22's tomorrow... I expected them today but the mail lady didn't leave me any presents! I am curious now to see if they create a problem.
  18. I use a template also, but since I have been doing construction around here I have a lot of styrofoam insulation. I took one piece, traced my jars on it and cut out the circles, then placed a paper template behind it with my wick drawing centered on it, then backed that up with another piece of foam. The entire thing is only 1 inch deep. So when I am ready to wick, I just put the jars in the "slots" and wick away!! I use the "tube" of a bic pen to press my wicks down. It is nice and sturdy and easy to store in my wicking drawer. Danielle
  19. ETA: sometimes I crack me up.... I read your post and for some reason skipped right over the "Bruce" part!! LMAO at any rate I am using the same "samples" as you are too with out the big flame issues. let me check.....on 1/4/08 I ordered the CSN wick kit from CS. HTH
  20. I am burning a CSN 16 in a 3.5inch diameter apothecary jar right now.... the flame is 1/2 inch. Not large at all. I actually think this jar needs a 18, but until they make one......lol. I think the 22 might be too large. I think I will test anyway. I e-mailed CS on 2/3/08 about adding the new wicks to the sample... they work fast!! ETA: this is in CBA
  21. Kellie, this will just prove that each person you hear from may have a different opinion. I have never used C3, so that I can not speak on. I do however use CBA... I love the way it looks, nice and creamy... wonderful. The hot throw isn't all that great, but I have found if you mix Ecosoya pure and the CBA... you get the best of both worlds. You get a great looking candle that throws too!! Good Luck with your wax quest! Danielle
  22. Back to the Co-op idea. I wonder what a 1,000 wicks from them cost?? I bet there would be a good amount of people interested. things that make you go hhmmmmm!! LOL
  23. This place carries size 6 - 24 CDN wicks. They seem a little pricey to me, but for the harder to find sizes it is an option. http://naturalcandlesupply.com.au/browse.php?cid=34 ETA: I just saw this place is in Australia!! maybe a CDN co-op is in order for the smaller, harder to find sizes. Have a great one Danielle
  24. Welcome Kellie, Ecosoya has 3 different soy waxes.... CBA, 135 & Pure. Which one were you thinking of using? Danielle
