  1. I read all the posts in this thread and wanted to add my two cents...I used to test all my samples in tarts only...to see if I liked the scent mostly, and I LOVE melting tarts. I made the mistake a few times of ordereing whole lbs. of these awesome scents only to find that I couldn't make them throw, sometimes at ALL in a candle...VERY frustrating!! So, from now on, before I'll order a lb. of scent, I will pour the sample into a candle and wick it to be SURE it will perform the way I need it to in a jar FIRST! I hope this saves someone else from this aggrevation!!
  2. Awesome answers guys!!!!! Thanks for all the wonderful ideas!!!!!
  3. We have had success w/ the CD wicks in the 50/50 blends, but as I recall reading here, you have to wick down quite a but from what you'd use in a 100% soy container. In our straight half pint jj's, we use the CD 8 for most oils, and in the wide mouth half pint and pint jj's, we use a CD 10. I found out the hard way, that the hotter burning CD wick produces a MUCH better scent throw and w/ out much cure time, as opposed to the cooler burning zinc. HTH!
  4. Day Star's Ultimate Vanilla is awesome, nice, strong throw in my 50/50!!
  5. We pour in the straight 8 oz JJ's AND the wide mouth 8 oz-I call them our fatty 8's~ These jars sell much better than the straight 8's for some reason, I like them for the wider mouth-wider melt pool. HTH!
  6. Mill Creek's!! Throw's awesome in 50/50, love this scent!!!
  7. Not to hijack this thread, but I have another question about one of her Vanillas; Becky's Nutty Van. Spice... I did this in tarts and I LOVE this scent-I am thinking about taking the plunge and ordering a pound of it, but someone else here had problems w/ it throwing, I think she got a throw after a longer cure... Anyone else try out this oil??? I use 50/50... Thanks!!!
  8. I use straight Par (no additives) (container paraffin) and add vybar and a 10% load (a lot of FO, cause I love a STRONG tart!!!) add FO at 165' mix well...I don't know if this helps or not...:undecided
  9. Thanks, But I also sell the Snowy Pine straight by itself, the addition of the Vanilla adds something creamy to it, makes it more like a food scent, the minty-ness and creamy vanilla are what stands out...Hope this makes sense... Thanks for the suggestion.. I have some ideas from the girls at work, tell me which of these sound good, or if you have any more ideas... Mint Cookies? Christmas Mints? Thanks!!!!!!!!:smiley2:
  10. for Snowy Pine and Ultimate Vanilla-this pine has a light minty-ness to it, mixed w/ Daystar's Ultmate vanilla-Oooohhhh....soooooo nice!!! BUT, I need a name!!! Any help??:undecided
  11. I love Peak's Pink Sugar, once people smell it, they love it, but I wonder if people would even smell the jar if I hadn't brought it to their attention...it's a scent that I've wondered if I should change the name to something else...
  12. My vote would go to JS also, I have been happy w/ many of Becky's oils...and she IS very generous, she really wants folks to try out her oils!!
  13. Hi I second Meredyth's vote Candles and Supplies, we sell a lot of this it is very strong in Par/soy blend also!
  14. Ditto, wicking hotter (safely!) helps w/ scent throw a lot, IMO!
  15. I personally didn't think it was all that great, and we used a BIG percentage of it mixed w/ the 1275-lots of sooting problems, and folks around us really are big into the soy, but no way am I into going 100% soy, so far I am happy w/ this wax, I am not going to say that we might not experiment again sometime...
  16. I just caught up with all of your posts: I have also experienced to cracks along the outer edge of a FEW jars w/ this wax, I attributed it to the soy content, I can fix it some of the time w/ the heat gun. I am not too worried about it, although, I haven't had it crack across the wick! :undecided I have not heated my jars, (I am trying to get all my holiday pouring done now, before my basement gets too cold...) I pour at 165-175... I was also told by Cindy @ C&S hat this wax has a recommended cure time by the manufacturer of 1 week. I have found that i can greatly reduce a cure time on most scents by using the CD wicks. (I usd to use zinc, I found that they didn't throw well for me w/ this wax)
  17. I also use this wax. I was mixing it w/ J223, but frankly got tired of figuring out my ratios, and was finding that I would have no luck getting some scents to throw, plus too much soot!SO, now I am liking the Soypour 1275 alone, MUCH cleaner burn, scents throwing great, I use CD wicks, and get a nice burn-great throw, AND this makes a nice, creamy looking candle.HTH!
  18. I have poured the Hearth and Home @9%, J223, 50/50 blend, CD wicks-Threw really nice, I liked it, had a touch of pine and some other things(been awhile) but I did like the scent and it did throw well. I got a sample of home, as I recall it was like a buttery cinnamon, I never poured it though. HTH!
  19. Tuscan Nights!-Peak Witches Brew-C&S both throw great!
  20. Mill Creek's Nashiki Grapefruit was strong for us in J223/50/50 blend, but they do formulate their oils to throw well in 100% soy... HTH!
  21. Her Ultimate Vanilla is great and throws terrific (mixes well too) in my 50/50, also her Creme de la Creme is wonderful (hints of Butterscotch!), and I ditto her Vanilla Bean Noel-great straight vanilla-light and fresh!
  22. Winter Candy Apple~ (BBW)Mill Creek Snowy Pine~Candle Supply by Farmhouse (can't make enough of this one!) Ultimate Vanilla~Daystar Cinn. Cider~JS (one of my Fav's) Bayberry~Mill Creek
  23. That was funny, I read the name of your thread and had to see if you were mixing THOSE two..ewwwww! I have read that folks mix vanilla w/ leather, making like a new car scent...sounds good, I know we couldn't sell plain leather for nuthin":sad2:
  24. :laugh2: :rolleyes2 :rolleyes2 You all Baaaaaddd.......!! LOL!
